UNPROFESSIONAL SHYSTERS! I have never left a negative review before but feel compelled to WARN others. I hired Royal Moving Company in Jacksonville based on their rating on Google. After researching, the majority of the positive reviews are from family and friends not customers; please read the one star reviews and a pattern emerges consistent with our experience. If I could, I would give them 0 stars. I hired Royal to move 9 items for our son (loveseat, small desk and chair, 2 barstools, mattress, bed base, nightstand and TV) to a destination 20 minutes away. Sonny (manager) stated they should be able to move all 9 items in 2 hours. Further, all items would be handled with care, quilt-pad wrapped, and that they were fully bonded and insured for the full value of the items. The crew arrived at 10:00 am on 8/27/20. After seeing the items, the crew concurred “no problem, we can easily move all 9 items in 2 hours”. The furniture was previously covered in plastic and the TV was boxed; all items were ready to be quilt-pad wrapped and moved by Royal. While moving, the items were NOT handled with care, none of the furniture was quilt-pad wrapped, items were piled on top of each other, and the crew used their feet kicking the furniture and TV to cram the items into the elevator. Upon arrival at the destination at 11:10 am, the crew sat in the truck smoking, talking with the office and completing paperwork for 20 mins (while on the clock). They presented an invoice for 2.5 hours labor, forecasting 1 hr 20 mins to unload (though it had only taken a total of 1 hr 10 mins to jockey the truck in place, load AND drive 20 mins to the destination). We disagreed with the time/cost and requested to pay when the job was completed as previously stated by Sonny. The crew argued with our son and held his furniture hostage in the truck (refusing to unload) until he signed/paid the invoice under duress with NO opportunity to assess the condition of the items. The workers instructed him to contact the office with any issues. The crew finally started unloading at 11:30 am and departed at 11:50 am (just 1 hr 50 mins after arriving at the pickup location, 20 mins to unload). I emailed Sonny about the damage (including photos) and we spoke on the phone the next day 8/28/20; Sonny was very rude and unprofessional cutting me off, denying he quoted 2 hours for the move, and blaming it on our son “being on a budget resulting in the crew having to drag the bed base”! Based on discussion with upholsters in Jax, the bed base is unrepairable. I emailed Sonny on 8/31/20 requesting he file a claim with his insurance carrier. The bed base is < 1 year old with a purchase price of $300. Sonny replied the next day 9/1/20, now claiming they are not responsible because our son “assisted the crew to keep the move within 2 hours”. Our son did assist the crew when they struggled with the weight of a couple items, NOT because of a time constraint. I replied to Sonny on 9/1/20 correcting him regarding the assistance provided, noting that assisting the crew when they struggled does not relieve Royal of their responsibility and again requested they file an insurance claim. They are NOT taking responsibility for their actions nor the damage caused by their crew. I'm so upset with this company moving my things. I trusted their reviews and this has been the worse decision I've ever made. Before I hired them, I have made it very clear that I had heavy furniture in all rooms of my apartment. I've explained that I live on the 3rd floor and were moving in another apartment on the 3rd floor. First day, they came in and complained about how many hours it was gonna take instead of moving my things right away. They took a break on the time that I've paid for, broke the legs to my 65in TV, broke some of my dishes, broke one of my very expensive vase that I just saw today... which had "GLASS PLEASE BE CAREFUL" on the box. They were placing things in my house that had "GARAGE" on the box instead of placing them in the garage. I understood that this would be a difficult move so I had over paid to leave a tip for their hard work... WAY before they even finished moving my things, but because they broke the legs on my TV, the guy had to give me the money for it. I went back to my old apartment to do a walk thru and while walking towards one of the rest rooms, we've noticed a bad smell in there. I opened the toilet and saw poop all in it and this pisses me off because I cleaned the entire bathroom out before they came in to move my things. I knew one of them had to use the restroom, but I didn't know it was like that. Today is day 4 and I'm officially done with unpacking and noticed that they took my whole pack of paper towels and tissues with them. I guess they needed it bad because it was raining that day. But I bought those in bulk for us to use, not for them!!! This took them over 6hrs to do and over $1000 for me... even with my brother in law breaking down all furniture, moving boxes and bags, and with him putting back up all the furniture. I understood that this would be a difficult move so I had over paid to leave a tip for their hard work... WAY before they even finished moving my things, but because they broke the legs on my TV, the guy had to give me the money for it. I went back to my old apartment to do a walk thru and while walking towards one of the rest rooms, we've noticed a bad smell in there. I opened the toilet and saw poop all in it and this pisses me off because I cleaned the entire bathroom out before they came in to move my things. I knew one of them had to use the restroom, but I didn't know it was like that. Today is day 4 and I'm officially done with unpacking and noticed that they took my whole pack of paper towels and tissues with them. I guess they needed it bad because it was raining that day. But I bought those in bulk for us to use, not for them!!! This took them over 6hrs to do and over $1000 for me... even with my brother in law breaking down all furniture, moving boxes and bags, and with him putting back up all the furniture. I'm so upset with this company moving my things. I trusted their reviews and this has been the worse decision I've ever made. Before I hired them, I have made it very clear that I had heavy furniture in all rooms of my apartment. I've explained that I live on the 3rd floor and were moving in another apartment on the 3rd floor. First day, they came in and complained about how many hours it was gonna take instead of moving my things right away. They took a break on the time that I've paid for, broke the legs to my 65in TV, broke some of my dishes, broke one of my very expensive vase that I just saw today... which had "GLASS PLEASE BE CAREFUL" on the box. They were placing things in my house that had "GARAGE" on the box instead of placing them in the garage.
