We never intended to get involved with this company and only became one of their victims thanks to a broker that lied to us. Looking at you US Standard Van Lines, who throughout the entire process represented they would be moving us and flat out lied about being a broker when I asked. Instead of moving us, they farmed us out to the Shit show that is Western Van lines. The drivers showed up 30 minutes after the quoted time reeking of weed. They charged additional $250 because of the stairs, which is fine and I can understand. What I can't understand is the gross underestimate of space. This is an industry trick - they will suck you in with a lowball quote by quoting you for less space than you actually need. We ended up removing a dining set from the quote and we still filled up all of the quoted space and had to leave some items behind. Now, to the good part. The driver calls a few days before delivery and says he can't deliver downtown Chicago. Excuse me, what? You literally had my address for months and you agreed to deliver and unload my items at said address. That is the basic term of the contract! The driver has the nerve to tell me I have 2 options: 1) hire a Uhaul and meet him in the suburbs to get my stuff at which point I will have to unload and carry the furniture into the apartment myself (I'm 5'5 130 lbs), or 2) I pay him additional $750 that's not in the contract to literally do the job I already paid this company $2,500 to do. What the fuck? If I wanted to move shit myself, I would have rented a Uhaul in the first place and not hired a moving company and paid thousands of dollars!!! That's extortion and the driver is lucky I'm not pressing criminal charges or call ICE on him! His justification for $750 - there is no access for 18 wheeler! Total bullshit. See photos of the unloading dock attached. Upon delivery the driver was rude as fuck and told me to my face he wasn't answering my calls to confirm delivery date "because I'm bossy." I have a recording of him saying that. After he argued with me he has the audacity to ask for a tip. I was finally refunded $400 but that doesn't make me whole bc I paid $750 that wasn't in the contract. The math isn't mathing, western Van lines. I'll tell you what your options are: 1) refund my $350 or I will take you to small claims court and get my entire $3,000 back because you are in breach and the contract is void. I will also file complaints with DOT, FMCSA, fl attorney general and won't stop until you can't do business anymore you pissed off the wrong attorney, suckers. Contracts are my bread and butter. Update as of 10/13/2020: I cannot find a word to describe the nerve, the impertinence and infamy of this company, Western Van Lines. WE HAVE NOT BEEN DELIVERED OUR HOUSEHOLD ITEMS - NOTHING, it has been one and a half months waiting for our things. This Company lies to the BBB the lies to Customers, they get away with crimes to good faith families with impunity. Please someone get this company and their owner HOFIT AZUELOS to pay for all the damage they have caused. Take it out of business. Update as of 10/17/2020: We FINALY received our things on Wednesday, Oct 15th. One and half months after our pick up in Parkland and 34 business days later, AFTER the first "available" delivery date... The abuse and disrespect from this company has no known name. A driver whose name we only new was "Serguei" but then it was "Alexander the Great" (For real, that is what the driver told us). This driver, who refused to give us his last name, called us on Tuesday night, at 6:10 pm, saying he was 2 hours away and that he will be delivering our things the next morning, sometime from 7 to 8am, and that we should have the balance due before unloading the truck. That phone call, should have happened with 48 hours in advanced, we received the phone call just from morning to night after waitting and struggling with the inexistent Customer Service from Western Van Lines for a whole month and a half, my husband had to go to several ATMs to try to get the balance due that same night since we were given no warning at about the delivery. THESE DRIVERS, WHO ARE PART OF THE SCAM AND GROUP OF LOW LIFE VANDALS, DO THIS SO THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY THEM IN CASH (since the post office is not open after 5 and opens in the morning only at 8am), NOT A MONEY ORDER, AND TO AVOID PAYING TAXES ON IT. That's why they DO NOT WARN YOU 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE NOT EVEN 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. But this is not all, around 35% of our things were broken, boxes and containers broken, furniture with multiple scratches, my son's bike looks as if it was thrown down from a 3 story building. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT RESPECT YOU OR YOUR THINGS. We were so exhausted and drained from this experience that just paid the guy so that he lived and we are now trying to make it with what was left usable of our things. To end my update, I want the public to remember that these guys, WESTERN VAN LINES, are subcontractors, that you only know about them the day of the pick up when you cannot do anything, the company/broker General Storage and Moving is the one that gets you into this mess, offering you an attractive rate and the exploiting you for every little things and applying fees that were not discussed initially. If anyone is reading this and is doing something to make these criminals pay for their ILLEGAL actions, let me know how I can help and feel free to use my documented experience to that end. In waiting so long for our things, we spent around $1,500 on things we wouldn't need to buy if the Carrier had delivered in a timely manner. So I unpacked my house this weekend. Western Van Lines has not delivered many of my belongings. On top of that, they have delivered other customers items to my residence. These THIEVES are refusing to deliver the rest of my items until they have have the balance of the contract due their driver didn't ask for. LAURA told me via phone (Of course not in writing), that they had the rest of my possessions. Now billing can only file a "Claim" on my missing items unless they are paid in full. UPDATE***Owner's name is HOFIT AZUELOS. She's from Miami and her family owns many moving companies. They ARE NOT "family owned" in Boise for generations like they'll claim on the phone. They scam everyone. They will charge you double what they tell you your estimate is, charge you in increments and demand cash for the last payment. WALK AWAY. Complete BS. Get a quote in WRITING on paper before you agree to any moving company contract. This company is doing ILLEGAL business. LIES from the beginning. Don't fall for it. Taking to small claims. DO NOT use Western Van lines. They quoted us $6500, walked us through each room and item twice. Also said they compensated extra in the quote. Claimed to be family owned in boise. Once the truck was loaded at 9pm after 8 hours they said the cost was $12k+!!!!!!! We were livid! Not how we wanted to leave our home. They're now telling us at least 13k. We aren't done moving with them but we were extremely upset. Next time we will research better, if there's a next time. Had i known we'd be grossly taken advantage of, i would have sold everything and bought it new in idaho! we are a young family with little kids. So upset they're taking advantage of people like this. If I could give them less than one , I definitely would. In the being my rep Sean was very responsive and helpful. Then when I didn't get the call letting me know when my items were going to picked up things changed. I asked for a refund of deposit so I could go another route when I couldn't get a response and that wasn't an option. Well next thing I knew, they were picking up my things. When the drivers got there they stated that I would have to pay $17 per box that I didn't include. (That's a negative. They were already late). The driver then said I should receive my items between 8/14 and 17. Well that didn't happen. So when myself and others began to call, I was told several different stories ranging from the wrong date was shared as well as we don't have drivers. Since there was no driver, my things were in storage somewhere in GA. Mind you I moved from NC to TX with all of my things in their hands. I asked if I could come get my things from storage and I was told I would have a pay a daily storage fee until I come get it ( another negative-- not paying you to complete your job). None of my phone calls were returned, Sean stopped responding, and I've been here for 2 weeks without my items. I called again and then was told I finally had a driver but they didn't know when it was going to be delivered so call back in two days. I did just that and I was told that they couldn't see the job anymore. She was going to investigate and call me back and as you can guess-- no call. The driver then calls to tell me when they would be here in the midst of a hurricane. My items arrive. Boxes were crushed, furniture damaged. When I called the company, all they could tell me was to file a claim. And yet and still I can't use some of my furniture. As I continued to unpack, I have more broken things ( glasses, picture frames, TV tray storage rack). None of my phone calls were returned, Sean stopped responding, and I've been here for 2 weeks without my items. I called again and then was told I finally had a driver but they didn't know when it was going to be delivered so call back in two days. I did just that and I was told that they couldn't see the job anymore. She was going to investigate and call me back and as you can guess-- no call. The driver then calls to tell me when they would be here in the midst of a hurricane. My items arrive. Boxes were crushed, furniture damaged. When I called the company, all they could tell me was to file a claim. And yet and still I can't use some of my furniture. As I continued to unpack, I have more broken things ( glasses, picture frames, TV tray storage rack). If I could give them less than one , I definitely would. In the being my rep Sean was very responsive and helpful. Then when I didn't get the call letting me know when my items were going to picked up things changed. I asked for a refund of deposit so I could go another route when I couldn't get a response and that wasn't an option. Well next thing I knew, they were picking up my things. When the drivers got there they stated that I would have to pay $17 per box that I didn't include. (That's a negative. They were already late). The driver then said I should receive my items between 8/14 and 17. Well that didn't happen. So when myself and others began to call, I was told several different stories ranging from the wrong date was shared as well as we don't have drivers. Since there was no driver, my things were in storage somewhere in GA. Mind you I moved from NC to TX with all of my things in their hands. I asked if I could come get my things from storage and I was told I would have a pay a daily storage fee until I come get it ( another negative-- not paying you to complete your job). Bryan had me walk through room by room, listing off my furniture items. He told me so long as I do not add any extra furniture, this will be the cost of the move. It came to $6100 with the packing, loading, and move. I was very particular in describing the size and number of items. (I actually ended up selling a sofa, two tables, and a desk beforehand, so I had even less furniture than was in my quote). He took my credit card deposit on the phone during our initial call ($2100) without any problem. Bryan assured me he would be available to me for any questions or problems any day of the week and at any time. I emailed him a few weeks later, and he answered within minutes. Packing/moving day was supposed to be on Friday morning, I was told. I had to call several times to figure out when, and it was pushed back to Friday evening. Then Saturday morning. Mind you, I sold/closed on my home Monday, so I had to be out of the house entirely. Two movers in a Penske truck showed up Saturday mid-afternoon. They did not have sufficient packing supplies with them. It was only two men. The main mover walked through my home, cross-referenced the furniture list I had provided with the items in my home, and informed me I would have to pay an ADDITIONAL $6000 (on top of the $6100 I had agreed to pay) to have them pack/move my home, or else they would leave and I could forfeit my $2100 deposit and find a new company. It was Saturday afternoon and I didn't have time to "find a new company." I called [redacted] several times, left him several voicemails, and emailed him about 8 times that day. I called dispatch -- closed on Saturday. I asked to have the movers call someone to speak with me. After an hour, I was finally put in touch with someone at WVL, and was told that [redacted] underestimated my square footage and I had to pay $12100 or else the movers would leave. So what choice did I have? I agreed because I was so angry and needed to get out of my home. The two movers didn't have help packing or the necessary supplies. The movers used boxes I had already on hand, had me start packing my things (when I paid for full packing which includes packing supplies and labor), and they left to get boxes and lunch. While they were gone, three strangers came to my door. They informed me they were called by someone from Craigslist to help pack. I was not notified of this, and I (female) was home alone with my small child. I felt unsafe and uneasy. I had them wait outside until the movers came back. I packed half of my home myself. I labeled the boxes from what room they came from (who doesn't do this?!). The movers packed the other half, and did not label any boxes.They dropped my 60" flatscreen TV, which upon arrival does not work. They spilled a full coke on my carpet, and bashed a hole in my wall. They delivered my items to IN 6 days after I was quoted. The two delivery movers (different ones) didn't know where to put boxes because half were not labeled. Then I noticed that when I called her number, I couldn't even leave a voicemail for her anymore - I would just get routed directly to customer service. Is this woman even doing her job? 2. Broken The back of my tall bookcase got smashed in during the move, and the lids of two of my plastic storage bins got completely mangled. One cardboard box arrived ripped all down the side; most were smashed. 3. Missing I had a leather loveseat (expensive when new - and the item/manufacturer is now out of business) and the two back pieces could be taken off for easier moving. Those back pieces are now GONE and Western Van Lines is making 0 effort to find them. I have half a couch now which might as well be no couch because it's non-functional without the back. Where could they have gone??? I am not holding my breath that they'll find them considering everything that's happened so far. I also don't think we'll get anything near the cost of a replacement back.
