Complete scam and lots of fraud
Original move estimate 2500. Paid the deposit. Had a follow up appointment and asked to have my grill, fireplace, end table, and nightstands added to the move. I was charged more money and the total came to $4800 dollars. 300 to 425 cf. I was told by Bill Thompson that I would not have to pay for anything that was not shipped/moved nor would I have to pay for cf I did not use. I called customer service and they said that this was not their policy. Bill "they don't know what they're taking about".
Bill told me I would be able to move the date without charge. I called to move the date due to work conflict and it's was $350. I was contacted the next day that the day I paid for was unavailable and they picked the day after. No refund and it conflicted with work.
When the movers showed up they were not able to move the items listed above. The pick up movers stated my cf was less than what I paid for. I emailed and called countless times with no response. I have not received a refund. I have not had the money deducted. No one has contacted me regarding the items not shipped and being charged for space that wasn't used.
At pick up and delivery they would only accept cash payments. They've received approx 2500 in cash which is reflected in my withdrawals. They forced me to pay $500 dollars at drop off/delivery without explanation for a "shuttle service" that was not discussed nor authorized by me. It was not agreed upon or part of the contract. There was no proof that they used a shuttle service and when I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor they stated that they wouldn't and told me that I would not receive my delivery unless I paid $500 on the spot through Zelle. He watched me as a I did it. Zelle is like cash and hard to dispute or file fraud.
Delivery was to be within 24 hrs notice. They gave me 12 hrs notice. I was out of town assuming I'd have 24hrs since it's clearly stated in their literature. I was told by the driver for delivery that if I was unable to be there I would have to pay more money. Wow, we haven't even moved yet and let me tell you what a nightmare this has been. They have messed up our pick up date and rescheduled it 3 times. We had also been told we will get towing for our car and the people they hired to move us said they don't tow cars, now we aren't sure what we are going to do. There is a reason they have a lot of bad review and try to play off the vanguard name. We even mentioned their bad reviews to them over the phone to which the woman said "well people are more inclined to leave bad reviews than good ones" and assured us we would get the best quality, we hadn't even received any good quality to that point and still have not. We made the mistake thinking this was the company on google with the good review and have been really mistaken. This company is robbing people and holding their belonging hostage. They moved a family member of mine from one state to another without providing a valid contact. They actually forged their signature on 16 different pages of a fake contract which they left on a box (they didn't give it to my family members on purpose).
In February of 2022, they gave them a quote of $3606 and promised them a "locked in" price. Upon delivery, they demanded 4 times the amount quoted. That's highway robbery and they are not FMCSA registered as they claim to be. My family had been put in contact with an FBI agent who is currently following multiple files of fraud on this broker who poses as an actual moving company.
Apparently, they have a long history of taking advantage of people. My family members are in their 70's and live on their SSI and Pension. This company flat out takes advantage of seniors and they think this is just a joke. I'm about to channel my inner bureaucrat and bury this company legally in every manner possible.
So, my family had to pursue this company for weeks to find out about delivery. They were completely ignored until the FBI agent contacted the company and stated they had to driver within 7 days.
When they arrived with less than 24 hours notice, they left 80% of their stuff outside on the curb. They threw their stuff off the truck and broke every single piece of furniture. They also failed to deliver multiple high ticket items like their large plasma TV, both their box springs, a safe, a chaise lounge and other pieces of furniture. They broke most of their items in boxes notes as Fragile.
The people who delivered it were three jerks from some moving company out of Arlington, TX called the Najjar Brothers who are also not licensed for interstate moves with the FMCSA. They also have a history of extorting people as they did to my family upon delivery. They wouldn't even open the truck until they were given $8500. They wanted cash but had to take the amount divided into 2 cashiers checks. They left no receipt for the monies they were given, just a faked and forged contract I mentioned above.
I would avoid this company at all costs!! We have the police, FMCSA, FBI and the Home Owner's insurance involved now who are aggressively pursuing both Vanguard Moving LLC and The Najjar Brothers legally.
I wish negative stars was an option. Also, all their positive reviews on Google are from family, employees and friends. Every time one person makes an honest post about being ripped off by these jerks, 20 "false positive" posts pop up within hours. Shady as the day is long.

First I will say, I am a real person and we had a great experience with Vanguard. There's been some concern in other reviews that they are faked. All I can say is that I am a real person and I worked with Vanguard Moving Services LLC to complete our move.
We moved from California to Massachusetts - a whopping 3100 mile move. Vanguard was always very responsive with quoting, and working with us to complete our move. After I had paid the deposit ($4000) I read about the negative reviews and started to get worried - but we went through with it anyways.
Yes they are a broker and they subcontract to other movers, but all I know is that we got our stuff and on time. Vanguard was always very responsive in answering questions about timelines and quoting. Even when I was put on hold on their call line but had to hang up to take care of something else, they knew about it and called me back later.
I will say that yes we under-estimated the amount of stuff because for those inventory phone calls you do your best to list items but it's very difficult to remember everything you have. So, when they did show up on move day with a 1600 cubic foot truck we landed up using it all, even though we only quoted 1200, so I had to pay more - but it was at the same rate as the quote. I think if you're good with numbers and can accurately estimate the cubic footage of stuff you are going to use then you won't have any issue with quote being in-line with the total. Also you should treat this as a DIY move - meaning you should pack things yourself as much as possible. We used U-haul boxes and packing materials, the movers also did some packing and charged us for packing materials, but it wasn't outrageous.

Hands down the most awful experience I've ever had moving. My furniture was picked up 10 days late. I was told "pick up and delivery are not guaranteed, it's a scheduling window." 10 days!! Vanguard can't secure a professional timeline? How are they still in business?!
When the carrier said they would be there, they were no shows, several times. Vanguard told me to call the carrier and the driver myself...what am I paying them for if I'm to keep the carrier/driver on track? I could have booked my own freight and saved thousands.
I paid extra to have a unique Longhorn packed. They snapped off one of the horns, wrapped it in a blanket and shoved it in a box. See pictures. I was also charged $1000 extra for fees including using an elevator and a "long haul". Vanguard knew my storage unit was on the 3rd floor.
They took no ownership for the situation and offered no compensation for the huge delay, broken and missing items and unprofessionalism they displayed. Save yourself the headache, anxiety, and money rent a UHaul. Read More
