We recently moved to a new home and used Two Men and a Truck as our moving company. I got quotes from multiple companies but the type of packages and services they offer were the best as compared to others. Booking them was a breeze. You fill a super easy form on their website and within few mins I received a phone call from their office. On the phone, they will try to fully understand your moving needs, for e.g. how the big the current house, size of new home, how many bedrooms, moving furniture from upstairs, how many beds, tv, treadmill, stuff in garage-- the whole nine yard. Basically they will ask about each room in your house and the items that you will like them to pack and move. Based upon the initial assessment they will give you options. My options were - Option A) 2 trucks with 5 crew with unlimited to and from trips for a particular amount. Option B) 1 truck. 3 crew members with just one way trip for a much lesser charge as compared to option A. For our use case, I went with option B as it made most sense. The crew and the truck or Three Men and a Truck came right on time. Along with the crew, a site supervisor also comes to sign some paperwork and will walk through the whole house and inspect the items that were discussed during the initial phone call so that there are no surprises for both parties at the end. I think this alone is a great added process to ensure the quality and both parties know what is going to happen and what won't happen. The crew worked very very very hard. They moved heavy furniture from upstairs, treadmill from upstairs, disassembled beds and zip tied the screws to the beds in a Ziploc type bag and WROTE on the bags id this screws are for master bedroom or kids room. Wow, attention to detail, A+ for that. Apart from very minor scratches the moving process went smoothly. Even when the guys took lunch break, they communicated that this lunch break won't be billed. On 10/7/2021 my parents used this companies service. The move went ok. They were going to transport their own TV's but the movers insisted that they could do it with no problem and if they were nervous about it to buy the insurance. Welp they broke a tv and now after immediately calling they've denied their claim stating that welp you checked all the boxes. I was on their website and they have what's called their "grandma rule" they're definitely not living up to this rule and would reconsider using them as a mover!! The insurance doesn't even work. We chose Two Men and a Truck Sacramento for our move yesterday because we had used their services 5 years ago and had a great experience. Unfortunately, this time left me disappointed. For one, our refrigerator door handles were removed and never put back on. (I had to go back to our old house to locate them- they're still not on). It wasn't even addressed. I didn't realize it until they had left. I saw one of the men struggling with my daughters crib - which is understandable- but when I went in to look at it later, I noticed that a metal support piece had been bent quite a lot in the struggle. When I brought it up, my comment was largely shrugged off. My husband and I have sheets of glass on each of our dressers and neither of them were put back on after moving. (I can't even find one of them) Also, I was called 1/2 way through the move to be informed by someone else that essentially some glass was broken in transit (no descriptions what kind of glass it was) neither of our movers even mentioned anything to us. I had assumed they had spoken to my husband but they hadn't mentioned it. We were operating in good faith that our property would be properly and reasonably cared for but by the end of the day, I was disappointed at the complete lack of communication and the lack of attention to not only detail but to base expectations. In total, they offered to pay me $30 for two damaged pieces of furniture, which were a complete loss. Then, when I attempted to communicate with them to arrange payment, they failed to respond and never paid anything to compensate me for the losses. I am completely livid with the awful service that we have received from this company. In 2020 we needed to move twice, and we not only hired Two Men and a Truck for their "premium" packing service, moving our possessions into storage, and moving them from storage to our new house two months later, but we got their maximum insurance (which cost $600 on its own) to protect our stuff on top of all of it. It started in September, where a misguided but well-meaning representative talked us down from hiring 5 men and two trucks to three men and one truck for the initial packing and move. This ended up being a disaster because what should have been a 1-day pack and 1-day move ended up being 2 days of packing and a rushed move that ended up going into overtime. Also, because of how badly the timeline was thrown off by insufficient staffing, we were not provided the promised dump run to get rid of the furniture we were not taking with us, and were offered nothing in terms of alternative or compensation. We had to hire a third party to handle it on another day. A couple of months later the sale was finalized on our new home and we were able to move in, this time insisting on 5 men and 2 trucks so that we could get the move done in one day and try to avoid the previous disaster. I would like to note here that we did not take any of our possessions from the units at any point between the moves. Here are some of the things that went wrong: My husband's late-1800s antique bed frame (a gift from his grandmother) was damaged during incorrect reassembly (by the same movers who took it apart only hours before at my mother-in-law's house) The sand bags that weigh down our backyard umbrella were deliberately left behind at the storage unit by the movers (we know it was deliberate because they moved them from the front of the unit to the back before they "forgot" them) and had to be retrieved later when it was raining and dark The movers had to be told multiple times where certain pieces of furniture needed to go, and still managed to put them in the wrong place, as well as leaving clearly labeled boxes on the wrong floor, let alone the right room Upon unpacking boxes we discovered a number of glasses and pieces of cookware were not just cracked, but smashed and dented (including small appliances like a crockpot and a rice cooker) We discovered that our refrigerator was not stored properly (the doors were not propped open) resulting in the thing being full of black mold which we had to clean out before we could safely use it A 14-pound crystal award received for 10 years of service at the company we worked for was haphazardly thrown into a box of DVDs and electronics without so much as a paper wrapping to indicate that they even tried to protect it, resulting in multiple dings and cracks on an item that cannot be repaired or replaced (and last we saw ones like it were being sold online for anywhere from $5000 to $20,000) At this point, still having some faith in the company, we submitted photos of our damaged items to try to get reasonable compensation for everything that was damaged at the hands of Two Men and a Truck's employees. After two months of waiting, we got our settlement offer back. "...due to the multiple moves in and out of storage making it harder to ascertain evidence of when damage occurred and the varying levels of valuation on each move you had performed, that we wished to extend a cash settlement offer of $1500 for the damages that occurred." As you might have guessed we emailed them back saying that this amount was unacceptable. We are awaiting their reply and hoping that they will make things right so that I can raise this rating. I will not even go into the attitude issues of some of the movers. The above is frankly reason enough for a 1-star rating. We had two barely adult males for our move during Covid-19 who had to be repeatedly asked to wear their masks in our house, and they refused to use hand sanitizer or wear gloves. They came ill-prepared with insufficient supplies for the move and it took at least 3 times the amount of time estimated at the initial inquiry. They literally THREW items into boxes without packing them properly only to be found smashed together in the poorly arranged boxes. They brought several wardrobe boxes WITHOUT THE BAR FOR THE CLOTHES, which you can imagine was awesome for keeping clothes arranged nicely. They damaged multiple walls, corners, and floors during the move. They said they would be submitting the claims internally, but we have yet to hear anything from them. Lastly, pray to god that you do not get Melissa on the phone in customer service, because she is heartless and robotic with no empathy whatsoever though she is readily equipped to take full payment in advance! "Premium EXPERIENCE and Move. "Without the Premium Price". These guys are without a doubt! One of the HARDEST working moving teams I've EVER SEEN! I'm sorry I can't remember them ALL by name; but, in my opinion they ALL went above and BEYOND expectations! I was up till 5:00 in the morning and they had NO problems boxing things for us! Hauling containers out of the car; and, even carried my fish aquarium out to the car for me. Considering ALL the things we had to move! They were VERY FAST and VERY EFFICIENT; and, they made something like THIS! Seem SO EFFORTLESS! I have ABSOLUTELY! NO PROBLEM! With using them again! "Premium EXPERIENCE and Move. "Without the Premium Price". These guys are without a doubt! One of the HARDEST working moving teams I've EVER SEEN! I'm sorry I can't remember them ALL by name; but, in my opinion they ALL went above and BEYOND expectations! I was up till 5:00 in the morning and they had NO problems boxing things for us! Hauling containers out of the car; and, even carried my fish aquarium out to the car for me. Considering ALL the things we had to move! Terrible customer service after significant damages! We hired this company to load up our 3 bedroom house for an out-of-state move. It was a big job, but the team of three seemed up for the job and were polite and courteous throughout. Unfortunately, this is where the positives ended.. Items had been packed so insecurely and had fallen so badly against rear of the truck, that someone had to climb in and re-stack so the truck could be opened. Mattresses were bent in half; boxes of light, fragile (marked!) items were crushed beneath heavy boxes; a storage cabinet was crushed and ruined; dings and dents in our bedroom set; and the unloading team even remarked that our furniture had clearly been wrapped incorrectly by the loading team. So I took photos of the collapsed stacks and damaged items, expecting some kind of compensation or refund for such blatant neglect. I was eventually contacted by the Operations Manager for this location, named Alan Sloot. He spent some time on the phone with me, reviewing the photos while we talked. He said that what he saw in the photos was very concerning, but that he wanted to follow-up with his loading team before taking any further action. He committed to calling me back within two days, after they returned from an out-of-town move they were doing. Alas, this time passed and I never heard back. I called back and left voicemail, sent him email, but never received any further response. I even contacted their corporate offices when this all started and never got any response! So I'm gonna start by saying I've used Two men and a truck multiple times and just recently used them to move. Movers were great but I had a tv damaged in the move. So I didn't completely freak out until the next day when I had to work with customer service to be compensated for the damage tv. Tv aren't cheap and they offered .66 every pound that was broken that's about $2-4 only. Umm it was broke in two pieces. So I was basically told that I because I didn't have them box the tv up I'm out of luck. Completely unfair. Both parts of the tv were broken. Obviously I could not watch all of the loading happening as I was busy running last minute errands and tending to the kids, etc. They got everything in the truck with 23 moving blankets to spare that we ended up returning on our way out of town. All seemed fine and good until we started to unload. Numerous pieces of furniture were damaged and/or broken (including a custom built kitchen table and bed) as well entire pieces of furniture not being wrapped in blankets. You would think that if we returned 23 blankets, that they would have wrapped everything they possibly could. Nope. Our kitchen buffet was packed standing on end with no blankets around it. Resting directly on the floor and rubbing against the side of the truck all the way there. Not sure what the movers were thinking, but they did a horrible job. Just look at the pictures and decide for yourself if you want these guys moving your belongings. To make matters worse, I have called three times now to complain about the service and file a formal complaint. Every time I call they transfer me to the general manager and say that if he doesn't pick up then I will get a return phone call back in 48 hours. Three calls from my end, and not one call back. I wanted to work this out amicably, but case is now with the credit card company and insurance.
