TWO MEN AND A TRUCK JACKSONVILLE

We are beyond comprehension with the lack of compassion, empathy, and exception. We have used Two Men and a Truck 4 times and my in-laws used them 1 time in just the last 18 months. We’re talking at least $10,000 (probably more knowing my in-laws) spent with your company in 18 months! Just after our movers came on a Monday, we had to prepare to fly to Texas to pickup my fathers ashes, drive him back along with his belongings on Saturday and Sunday, then flew out again the very next day for work and didn’t return until Wednesday, a week and 3 days after our move. On Friday night we finally had time to unpack our TV so we could try to have a night of normalcy and watch TV in our family room. We went to turn on the TV and realized what we thought was a smudge from handprints from the move was in fact was discoloring from the screen having internal break. The TV would turn on for less than a second and cut off. The crack was from pressure being put on the corner of the TV causing a compression fracture internally. We called and left a message that night and expected a call Monday. Well… no call but an email. Then a day later were told it was outside of the window to claim. My husband then emailed back explaining our extenuating circumstances and not so much of a “we’re sorry for your loss” email. On top of the TV damage we had noted damage to our headboard and dresser initially after the move, but were going to let it go. Our bedroom furniture is easily a $10,000 set and our TV at the time of purchased 2 years ago was $3000. While we know this latest move was only $1000 we have solely used this company. My in-laws are custom home builders in Jacksonville and constantly refer their clients to this company, and we are prior military and have a habit of moving frequently, and have in the past exclusively used this company. Needless to say, we will NOT recommend this company but now will highly discourage anyone from using you. Very very very dissatisfied and disappointing. The lack of empathy and understanding mixed with the refusal to make an exception (especially with how much we’ve spent in 18 months using this company) has led to this review. The movers were nice and moved the boxes and furntiture, but they did significant damage to many pieces of furniture. Our couch is large and should have been disassembled to fit through the door, instead they just forced it through tearing the upolstry. Both are beds had scratches or dark streakers in the fabric. The boxes were not neatly place in the room, so the new apartment is a mess. We called the company and asked to hold back the final payment, until the damage was repaired. They told us if we did not pay by 5PM then they would not repair our furniture under warranty. Then they put the charge through before 5PM. This is scam organization, I do not recommend using them. Update on my previous review. We requested the same guys who moved our belongings from the apartment to the storage unit- because they were awesome! The third person was different the second time- moving from storage into the new house. I was at the storage unit early and had already started packing my car with artwork and small odds and ends. The guys showed up and after backing up to the bay doors- threw open the back to a mess from the day before. Trash, blanket pads strewn about. It had rained the day before and obviously they didn't get a chance to clean out the back of the truck. Slight delay. I headed back to the unit to grab a few more things and 2 of the guys followed me back. They were briefly worried about fitting everything- we had added a little bit after they had moved the bulk of our stuff. I showed them a picture of how there was still about 8 feet of space in the truck last time and they agreed it shouldn't be a problem. Off to the races. We were at the back of the storage unit- so the carts full of boxes were a near endless cycle. I moved several carts myself, because I can't just sit and watch and because I figured any small help from me would help move things along. I did leave a little earlier than them so I could run by the bank. Once they were at the house, the new extra guy had to pull me aside. They broke my husbands clock that was over 60 years old and a gift from his mother. Irreplaceable. It was painted glass- large and wrapped by the original two guys in both blanket padding and moving saran wrap. I reluctantly took a picture and sent it to hubby. I was flying the move solo as the guys had to work. The broken clock isn't why they lost a star though- breakage happens. I actually found an entire box of glassware broken too while unpacking- I didn't report it, because in my mind- it wasn't anything expensive. Pint glasses, mugs, champagne glasses, wine glasses. Some were sentimental- but it's just stuff. The loss of a star was because for some reason boxes ended up in the wrong rooms, and not just a few. Way too many. Kitchen boxes tossed in the garage. Plenty of 3rd bedroom things in all other rooms and I haven't even gone through what is in the study yet. As I go through boxes I keep finding ones out of place. The other highly frustrating thing is how many boxes are turned upside down. I wrote on every box- on top and on at least one side. I bought color coded room stickers to make sure the boxes would land in the correct rooms. The one gentleman was the biggest culprit- I watched him drop a few in the wrong rooms, meanwhile Manny was stacking boxes for one specific room and carrying them all in together. Josh was in the truck moving boxes to the edge for the other guys to grab. I have had 3 boxes upside down with broken items. I'm no where near unpacked yet, but hopefully I won't have any more broken items. I will say their insurance was able to reach out to my husband about the clock and settle on a reimbursement for it. The clock can't be replaced, but they were at least fair in the amount offered as compensation. I would still recommend- I would just pay closer attention when off loading. Boxes should be upright and going into the correct rooms. Period. Read More
