Buyer beware here. After my experience, I can't recommend them. They weren't cheap either, so this wasn't a "get what you pay for." For starters, they didn't bring the right size truck, resulting in me having to go back, on my own, to get things. I stayed in the area, but what if this was an out-of-the area move? That's major no bueno. They were hired to move my stuff, plain and simple, and they failed. And upon leaving, I pointed out a couple items, heirloom antiques, that hadn't been put on the truck. One was an outdoor table/chair combo right next to the front door! Yea like I'm leaving that. The other they didn't have room for, so my real estate agent came and got it for me. The foreman blamed me for not pointing it out in the first place, because it was behind the front door! A good crew would have done a once-over before leaving, because moving is stressful and you don't always catch everything. I had to put the majority of my stuff in storage, so it admittedly wasn't a simple move. Hence two stars instead of one. I also believe Spartan Moving damaged a table lamp but didn't tell me. How do you withhold information like that? I won't know for sure until I get the stuff out of storage but I'm pretty confident it came from that lamp. The room only had a few items in it. When researching moving companies I was already very impressed with Spartan Moving Company's professionalism and friendliness over the phone. They gave me a rough estimate of the cost based on the square footage of my home and how many rooms I had. When moving day came they arrived on time and were very detail oriented with everything they took inventory of while loading the truck. Everything was protected and the wardrobe boxes they provided complimentary were a lifesaver!! They also made sure to point out if anything was already damaged which was thoughtful. Since we were moving from northern CA to southern CA it took a day until the movers arrived to move everything into our new home. I hate leaving bad reviews but here I am. There were 3 things that went wrong in this move and that's too much to overlook. 1.) Felix told me 3-4 movers would be there on move day. Only two men showed up. What would have taken 3-4 hours took much longer as a result. Not okay. Don't show up with 1/2 to 2/3ds of the crew you quote people for. 2.) the company moved our stuff into storage. When they got to the storage unit they piled all the boxes in completely haphazardly with no thought as to providing a path to access the boxes. They were just crammed in. 3.) now that we have moved stuff from storage into our house, we found that Spartan rolled up one of our rugs and folded it in half - completely ruining the rug. We have to throw out this expensive rug because someone folded it in half. Whyyyyyyyyy? So with these things in mind you know what to look out for if you decide to hire Spartan. Read More

We had a terrific moving experience with Moises, Jose, and Camilo who helped us move from a 3rd floor 3BR to a 6th floor 2BR within San Francisco. Specifically, they were champs who went above and beyond, as our building's elevator was broken the day of our move - and they still moved everything within 7.5 hours. Not a single dish, cup, or screen was broken - they were flexible, customer service oriented, and cheerful through the process. They also broke down and re-built a king size bed, computer desk, and entertainment center for us. My only advice for the team is to double check the moving rate listed on the contract slip (ours was off by $10/hr but was fixed expeditiously) and to provide a more detailed invoice with the moving supplies (we received a flat amount - wasn't line itemized.) Felix and his crew at Spartan Movers were excellent. They were not only on time, but very efficient and organized. They wrapped up our furniture methodically and carefully. And, when they had to negotiate the steps and tight corners in my home, they communicated with each other to watch our newly remodeled floors and walls. Felix even patiently carried our furniture long enough for us to place felt pads on the bottom to prevent future scratching. They were also happy to rearrange our furniture as we decided the look of our room. A great bonus was Felix' concern for my pregnant wife's exposure to dust and tried to clean my furniture himself; truly endearing. Check it out! They have nearly 500 reviews with 5 stars!! IT IS WELL DESERVED! They came in and quickly started working. I appreciated their swiftness and efficiency! Everything was boxed and wrapped carefully. Spartan Movers had all the supplies and tools ready. I didn't need to call beforehand to order a certain amount of items, they were already well prepared for whatever was in my house. I moved into the 6th floor of an apartment building, I thought they would be turned off by the amount of stairs they needed to climb with our stuff but they were so sweet and more giggling about how there are a lot of stairs. Super nice men :) I appreciated all of their hard work! PRICE: it was 165/hour for a large moving truck and three men to help which is cheaper than most moving companies around San Francisco (I called around). They charged for extra boxes, tv box, mattress covers, and more. Anything extra was around $5.. Not bad. Best of all, everything arrived safely :) They are truly professional hardworking movers! I used Spartan moving to move from San Francisco to Burbank last week. I called for an estimate and talked to the owner David. I told him which day I wanted stuff to be picked up and he told me when it will be delivered. On the day of pick up I had all the boxes ready to be loaded and they packed the remaining furnitures in blankets and wrapped it. On the day of delivery they set the boxes where I asked them and put my bed together. All the movers worked hard, no slacking, and whole process was smooth and speedy.
