If you’re looking for a white glove experience, this is not it. I used Sheridan Brothers for a move one hour from Rochester. Three guys showed up. The guy in charge with the iPad dropped my dresser mirror on the windowsill, chipping the sill and staining the wood on my mirror with the paint from the windowsill. I didn’t notice until after they left. I was in the room when he dropped it, and the broken piece that came off the windowsill mysteriously wandered away. I don’t have over the top nice things, but for the price of movers I expected a little more professionalism, productivity, and after that incident, honesty. I had a one bedroom apartment, and they were with me from 9am-4pm, including an hour lunch. There was a very low sense of urgency, and the day could have been completed much sooner. Toward the middle of it all, I chose to (after hiring movers) LEAVE SOME OF MY BELONGINGS IN THE OLD APARTMENT FOR ME TO RETURN LATER TO PICK UP BY MYSELF because I just wanted it over. It was taking forever, the guy in charge was outright complaining, and the overall attitude was that every minute was just dreadful. I concur. It was dreadful. I’ve never hired movers before, and I can tell you I will never hire these guys again. In the end, I paid almost $2,000 (100’s of dollars over the quote) for a one bedroom move. NOT WORTH IT. DON’T DO IT. After ravaging my wallet and damaging my brand new apartment, the guy in charge got his iPad and took a quick survey that was meant for the customer (that’s me). He filled it out himself and gave Sheridan Brothers a five star rating. It was the quickest I saw him move all day. I didn’t say anything because at that point I just wanted them gone. So please don’t pay attention to the collectively higher star rating you see elsewhere online as it is falsification of documents for personal gain. I am leaving this review so that I am heard, instead of one of Sheridan Brothers’ employees acting on my behalf. I usually would never leave a bad review, but for two grand I think I deserve to be a Karen. If you’re considering a move, try a professional moving service and not this local getup. Not impressed. In the interest of full disclosure, the youngest of the other two helpers was nothing but diligent. I really hope he finds his way to a job where his talents and skillset can be recognized and celebrated, and he has room to grow. Give him the iPad, he deserves it. Read More

I had Sheridan Brothers move me last week (7/6/22). While the movers were kind and helpful, at the last minute they spilled the dresser drawers out of the the dresser, breaking one of the drawers. (I had asked multiple times if I needed to remove the drawers or secure them with a strap or tape and was told no). The movers took the drawer with them and promised to have it back to me the next day. It was not returned. I called on 2 days later to find out what happened and the bookers/ dispatch were totally oblivious to the event. Hours later they tracked down what happened and the piece. I was told they’d fix it and return it to me on Monday (7/11/22). When I didn’t receive it Monday, I called again to ask what was going on. I was told it stayed on the truck and they would not now fix it because it is “partial board” and they won’t fix that type of furniture. While I was frustrated to learn this nearly a week after my item was broken, I was more frustrated with the lack of communication and responsibility for an item left in their care and they had NO CLUE where it was. I called again Tuesday (7/12) to find out why I was again told that the broken drawer would be returned, but it was not. No accountability- just said “the guys got back late and couldn’t get it to you”. I was promised it would be delivered on Wednesday. Again it was not. I just called again to ask WTF was going on? Again no accountability. I was told “yesterday was crazy” and they just didn’t get to it. The woman then told me she’d track it down and call back later today. I demanded that I receive a call back within the hour because I have called them almost every day to follow up on their broken promises. I also asked if I could just pick it up, and there was hesitation but I could. The lady then called me back in 15 minutes to say that it’s be delivered between 2-4 pm today- while I’m at work. Fine. Leave it on the front porch. We’ll see if it actually happens since I’d been made this prime at least twice earlier this week. DO NOT trust the movers to move your furniture with the drawers in, especially if they easily roll out. DO NOT trust them to bring your stuff back- fixed or not, because they won’t do it in a timely manner, even with kindness and lots of follow up. Side note- up until this lost drawer event, I was extremely happy with the company and the movers. In fact, I tipped them $100 each! But the lack of urgency and response from the dispatcher/ schedulers has been ver disrespectful. Their employees broke my stuff, didn’t report it, and they won’t fix it (which is fine cuz I can do it), but now to not return it for over a week is ridiculous. Prices have gone up significantly for the Sheridan Brothers, I’d thought they were good movers and I’d spring for it. Paid almost $1k to have two guys move furniture for 3 hours. I sit down and after a long day of moving want to watch some TV, it’s broken. Try to follow-up with the business and they claim TVs need to go in a special container — they’re not supposed to move TVs, and my generous tip may “make people do things they’re not supposed to do.” Weird how I tipped after the move, so how would that incentivize them? The guys told me they’d take the TVs as they were, I didn’t expect it. I said “are you sure you can take these?” They’d said they’re small enough and mentioned nothing of needing a TV box, I told them to be careful. Business says I didn’t sign up for some reimbursement policy so I’d get $0.30 per pound for the broken TV. For the money I’d spent and to be mistrusted and spoken to coldly by the business I’m very disappointed. Will not be doing business with this company again. Read More

I contacted Sheridan Brothers online and received all the information I needed from Jennifer, who was courteous, knowledgeable and quite accommodating as I decided on a date. She got right back to me every time via email, which I find easier than trading phone calls. The truck and the guys arrived just before 8 as planned. I packed all my stuff quite well and labeled everything. They did a quick survey of my stuff and went right to work. It was one of the hottest days of summer, but you wouldn't know it from the speed at which they packed up my 4 room apartment into the truck. Door to door it was 3 hours and that includes the drive to Gates and a little snag that was entirely my fault (neighbor needing to get out of the driveway mid loading). They safely negotiated my things down a tight spiral staircase and down a narrow driveway. The guys were awesome. Ricky, Louis and Shane (I think). They took great care in making sure everything was where I wanted it once we got to the house and were on the their way in no time. They were gracious and professional. I made sure they had an endless supply of water and Gatorade and they were not only grateful, but humbled. Plus, they were fun and funny!
