STAY AWAY from this company at all costs! They have stolen several pieces of my property from the move — the most expensive being my wedding gown, which is a family heirloom. My husband and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary on 10/7 and this is what we’re dealing with now. Among many other issues, we noticed several expensive pieces of our property missing on 10/12, the day this horrific company partially delivered our belongings. Currently looking into our consumer rights, filing complaints with BBB and the state of California where they’re based, contacting the attorney general, etc — I want my property back from these thieves. To make matters worse, we didn’t hire Seventh Generation. The company we hired was Allegiance Moving and Storage who also turned out to be liars and con artists as they are actually a “moving broker.” They outsourced our cross-country move to Seventh Generation Moving and Storage, a company I would’ve never hired based on their horrible reviews. They also held our property hostage unless we paid an additional $900 the day of delivery for a smaller moving truck they ended up not even needing. What were we to do at that point? Classic company using tactics to charge customers extra money on move day. There's a reason everyone is giving them a 1 star review. This is a terrible unprofessional moving company. I have used multiple moving companies for international, interstate, and local moves and Seventh Generation are by far the worst. They doubled my cubic footage from 400 cu. Ft. To 800 and we're charging me $3,700 when they came to pick up my items (on top of what I had already paid for the move). My box and furniture count were the exact same as to what I had quoted prior to the move so there was no way it could have doubled for an apartment. They also picked up more items than expected in their move earlier in the day and told me because of that, they didn't have space in their truck? As a result, I had to leave many of my personal belongings behind and arrange to move them myself. Extremely unprofessional. The foreman and his team were rude. They were not willing to help reduce cubic footage and disassemble simple items like desks or chair legs so that it could take more space in their truck and they could charge me more for cubic footage. The moving team made this move very stressful. They left my desk in an elevator and didn't even load it into the truck and left. They also left behind the power cord for my TV and didn't pack it while they wrapped the TV. Finally, a lot of our furniture was damaged, boxes were damaged along with their contents and you could see the truck was loaded in a very haphazard manner. 7th generation moving and storage was contracted to do our long distance move from California to Washington through nationwide movers. We had picked nationwide because the great reviews and amount of time we were told they would get our stuff to us. Initially the local pickup went very well they took everything with care loaded it into the truck and made an inventory list of everything they took from us. The issue started with the lack of communication once our things were in their hands. We understood that of course long distance moving takes time. They took our things Sunday Feb 12th. We were told they would call us when they were en route to destination and gave us an estimate of Feb 17th to drop off our things at the new place. Following days we had not heard that they left and it was after 2 days of calling that we were finally able to get a hold of someone. On the 17th they called and said they were en route and we would get our stuff by the 20th or 21st. Great no issues with that. The frustrating part was after when the 20th came around they told us 8am. After 8am came and left with no update we called again and they said 12. This same process went on for 2 days and they insisted they were 45 minutes away. This was frustrating trying to accommodate due to work schedules and other activities. We would have no issue if they had been up front and said it was taking longer than anticipated. when they finally arrived on the 22nd they came back with extra fees not in the contract. They wrote in a fee to use the reserved freight elevator in our building. They also attempted to charge us a waiting fee while we contacted nationwide to see if we could get this charge removed. They told us it would be a 200 elevator fee on top of a 200 waiting fee. We were able to decrease the fee to 100 but nowhere in the contract was there anything about a elevator fee until they wrote it in. On top of all of this I have many missing items and broken items. One of my couch feet is missing and the walls in my new place are dented and scratched from their attempt of getting all our stuff in. The boxes were completely torn and dirty. Many of the boxes had dirt inside them getting on our items. Boxes marked heavy were stacked on top of boxes marked fragile. They were completely unprofessional and rude as well. It seemed like the team was in equipped to handle this move. I do not recommend them for long distance moving but will say the local team that picked up our stuff was very polite and friendly. Seventh Generation was subcontracted through Allegiance Moving Co. The process through Allegiance was professional and customer service friendly. I felt like a valued customer. I wasn't aware that the move was being subcontracted out, so I made my money order out to Allegiance. The movers of Seventh Generation waited patiently after packing up my home for me to go back to the Post Office and retrieve a new money order. I was told by Allegiance that I will receive a call when my items arrived in state and then I can give the movers my new address. I waited 21 days, I called SG, and spoke to the rudest person. His tone was aggressive and I asked him, "why was he speaking to me as if I did something wrong by calling and asking where my things would be here." There was a miss communication between Allegiance and I, that SG does not have in their contract. Even if it was my misunderstanding it could have been explained to me professionally with a courteous tone. I believe it was Brian I spoke to. After the ordeal was rectified. I was told by Brian that they had 21 days from a date to deliver my things. A week later someone else called, a very nice gentleman to confirm the address and let me know I had 2-3 weeks and my items will be on the way. The polite gentleman also mentioned they as in SG will give me 24 hours or more as notification of drop off. As I explained to him and Brian I needed the notification because I had to ask for time off work. The gentleman said, no problem they understand, he went in and gave me explanation on how they worked with another mover to accommodate their move. One week passed and I didn't hear from SG, I didn't expect too because the time-line was 2 -3 weeks out. As Iwa boarding a plane SG Brian calls and tells me my items will be there Saturday-Monday. I explained to him I was leaving town, he told me if I don't get my things that weekend he can't quarteantee when I would receive them again. It could be weeks or month out and I will be charged. It wasn't what he said, it was how he said it. I wasn't speaking to him in a harsh tone or yelling or being rude. I was being extra polite because they have my things, it's like being nice to the nastiness waiter because you don't want them to spit in your food. I exited the airport went home. I called SG back 10xs or more before they answered to confirm I will be home to receive my belongings. I was given a text message of 8-11am on Saturday. They came late, with an apology and great customer service. I don't recommend SG if you have to deal with calling into the office with questions and concerns. The movers, the ones who do the heavy lifting where nice, polite and professional. I do not know if I received all of my things because I wasn't able to use their check list to check all the boxes. It has been 6 days since I received my items and I still looking for things. I would have liked them to have allowed me to check things off. I recommend numbering all your items yourself to have a count. When they deliver, you will know if you have everything. The movers had great customer service, polite and communicated what they will do and explained the moving process. Office staff; abrupt, defensive and short tempered. My best friend recommended Seventh Generation Moving company! I am so grateful for the recommendation. My movers Juan and Carlos were absolutely wonderful. They were on time, had the most friendly and positive demeanor. They kept me laughing and feeling at ease through the move! Everything got done under two hours. All my belongings were padded up perfectly, and moved from one apartment to another swiftly. The guys unpacked everything and put together my bed for me. These guys are pretty darn good. It's Saturday morning and the movers I book text me at 6AM informing me they would need to push back our appointment from 8AM to 2PM. Then at 2PM I get a call informing me the movers will not make it. What do I do then? I jump on Yelp and start messaging every moving company I could find. Fortunately, Seventh Generation was available. I spoke to them through Yelp and booked their services by about 2:30PM-3:00PM. They arrived at 3:30PM with their truck and 3 movers. Jeez, talk about a fast response time... Price - Very fair. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. Service - Their lead mover (I think) walked through the apartment and we discussed what was to be moved and what wasn't. Super nice. Easy communication. They start and wow, these guys don't stop. I was a bit concerned these guys may move slow in an effort to run up the bill. Not the case at all. If anything, I felt bad that they were working so hard. They worked hard/quickly while always maintaining a very pleasant demeanor. This left me with no choice but to tip them well. Especially since we didn't finish the move till about 11PM. Its important to note that they packed/wrapped everything incredibly well. Not a single item was damaged... until I got I got to them... Would I use them again? Absolutely.
