I was with my friend the day she was moving and they were so egregiously bad and crooked, I had to do a review myself. Let’s start off with OVER $12,000 DOLLARS WORTH OF ITEMS STOLEN. BEWARE! Chris is one of the most unprofessional individuals I came across as I was present for the phone calls, and they blocked my friend’s number from the company so she wouldn't ask for her stolen items. My move with Safebound went without an issue thanks to the hard work of David, Manuel and Maxi. They were respectful, clean and were careful to take care of my belongings during the move. I really appreciated the team for their professionalism. 12/1/23: Update- As I was unpacking, I noted kitchen items that were missing but thought I just had not unpacked them yet. Now, I have completely unpacked and the items are likely all in the same box somewhere but not in my home. I followed up with my prior building and no boxes were reported left in the loading area. It is annoying to know that not all my boxes made it during a local move. I should have counted the boxes with the lead mover before and after. When I contacted Safebound, the customer service person was pleasant but did not offer a resolution. There has been no follow up with this company. Read More

I have used Safebound's full-service, full-truck moving service for an interstate move from Boston, MA to Dallas,TX. I recommend this service to anyone who is interested in timely, hassle-free, courteous service. The movers were Mike P and Tomas Castillo Nunez, two excellent human beings who are experienced in what they do, and it shows. This kind of moving service is never cheap but it was still good value in my opinion. If one wants a tight delivery window for an interstate move, one needs to get a dedicated truck and crew. Patric and Frankie at Safebound have clarified this and also presented other relatively inexpensive alternatives that require one to tolerate a more flexible delivery schedule. These guys have done a great job in packing, loading and transporting my household items. During the moving job, we realize that the household items had weight and dimensions more than what was estimated. Thanks again for the help guys. 4/19/23 Update: Our items finally arrived and the movers were unable to assemble the bed. My wife and I had to do it. My $3,000 TV, which is just over a year old and was working just fine before moving, now does not turn on. Sony customer service rep advised us to take it to a repair shop. Thanks guys! 5/3/23 Update: TV repair shop completed a diagnostic and concluded the TV panel was damaged. They suggested the damage was likely caused by mishandling of the TV (dropped, rough handling). They informed me a panel would cost about $2,000. I was asked by Safe Bound to fill out a claim and per policy they would pay .60 cents per pound of the damaged TV (49lbs). So, that means I would get around $30 total for a a TV that cost me $3,000. Frankly, I’m not going to bother filling out this stupid claim. 12/20/23 Update: On September 22, Zac Reid, general manager from Safebound called me. He stated how he noticed my review and apologized for how things had turned out. He also said they wanted to “make things right” and offered to buy a new TV of equal value. I mentioned that I’ve already purchased a new TV and to my surprise, Zac, suggested Safebound could send me a check for the damaged TV. I honestly did not think he was being serious but he was. Without getting into to many details Safebound did “make things right”. I was not expecting this because they could have easily ignored my situation and I felt it was necessary to thank Zac and Safebound for trying to do the right thing. If you are looking for the best movers in town look no further, Safebound Moving and Storage is the BEST moving company I have ever hired! Nathaniel Jocelyn was our luxury moving specialist who organized everything from start to finish. From dealing with their sales and customer service team to the crews that showed up at my home, they could not have done a better job at everything that my move required. The team showed up on time and with clean trucks, plenty of packing supplies, and every tool they could ever need for any type of relocation. We moved locally in Wellington and they were able to pack and load our belongings efficiently and safely. We had a lot of large items to move like a grand piano and a fully loaded hanger which proved to be no problem for Safebound. Nahuel, Dave, Miguel and their crews showed their expertise as they packed not only 2 trucks, but also 2 auto carriers with our cars and precious airplane all safely loaded and secured. Having professionals arrive with smiles on their faces made the entire process stress-free and effortless. Absolute nightmare of a moving company. Safebound failed me at multiple levels of their company and hardly seemed to care. The salesman was difficult to get in touch with and when I finally did a video call with him to show him my inventory, he grossly underestimated the size and amount of items and gave a false quote. I was called at the end of my guaranteed 2 day pick up window (the window stated on the contract SafeBound signed with me) and informed that the movers would not be coming to get my stuff. This was AFTER my exact pickup time had already been confirmed. They told me that was this because their management has to failed to account for how long the other pick up of the day would take. Instead of sending a new truck or offering a solution, they passed along this burden to me, the customer, and told me they would not even arrive until the next day, when I was supposed to have left the state. This majorly disrupted my travel plans. Even when promised they would arrive as soon as possible the next day, they didn’t arrive until after the new confirmed pickup window, which I later learned was because one of the employees decided not to show up to work that morning, which delayed their arrival by several hours. And worst of all, they lost my antique hand-painted end table, and it was a weeks-long struggle to get any form of financial compensation for this loss. In the end, they offered….get ready….$35 as compensation for the loss of my property. When working with SafeBound, you are Bound to have a headache. Save yourself the trouble I faced and work with any other movers. Updated information. We had been working with this company and had come to an agreement for compensation on our end. At that time several months ago, no more responses from the company. Supposedly some of the employees involved with this debacle are no longer working for them. It has been MONTHS since any of our calls have been returned. We have been in contact with Angi's List who states they also have tried to resolve this issue. We have tried everything, calls, emails. I have had my items delivered from storage through them and that was all. ZERO compensation for my storage fees, zero compensation for massive amounts of breakage and negligence in the handling of our stuff, zero compensation for our thousands of dollars of lost/stolen items. At this point we will be seeking alternative means for recovery. The total lack of unprofessionalism from this company astonishes me. One star is two stars too many. My mother and I used this company for 2 separate moves. They were both Coming from the same house and going to 2 separate locations. We received 2 quotes, one for each location that wete way underestimated. And at this point we believe that to be deliberate in order to win the contract from competition. We were advised when the moving truck arrived that we would need to pay $400 in cash for each of the 2 deliveries. We were never told this in advance. The trucks ended up being 4 hours late and banks were closed. Luckily at this point we got the cash from the ATM. At this point the driver walked around and looked at the 2 deliveries and gave us a price of double each of our 2 quotes. This outrageous increase in price left my mother unable to take some of her furniture. After the furniture was loaded we filled out paperwork. On the paperwork is a spot for the earliest possible delivery date. We were given a guarantee that the trucks would arrive no earlier than that guaranteed delivery date. As we were traveling a far distance to get home, We picked the following week.. At that time we were advised that we will receive a 24 hour notice as the remaining balance would need to be paid cash upon delivery of our items. None none of this happened. The truck arrived 2 days early and luckily we had just arrived back. Unable to get the items delivered to the house because it was 2 days early, I was forced to purchase a storage unit. I have tried to reach out to the company via email via phone calls and via text. I have not received a return call to date. Delivery was 5 days ago. Upon inspection we have 7 to 10 missing boxes, broken items, crushed boxes and who knows what else we will eventually find. UPDATE 7=27: I still have not heard back from Safe Bound. While they stated in the response to my review that they are working on my claim, I have received no communication from them. I am looking into a small claims court suit, filed by my fiancé, against Smooth Lines and Safebound. UPDATE 7-25: I have not heard back from Safe Bound. I was told by a customer service representative from Safe Bound that I needed to contact Smooth Lines, however, they are saying, as I originally had known, that it has to be Safe Bound I file through. Also, there is an easy way for the Customer Care Team to resolve this issue, schedule someone to come out to fix the damage, or give me a refund so I can schedule any pay for someone myself. Smooth Lines stated that they did not do the delivery. I hired Safe Bound moving to move furniture from my fathers house in Indiana to my house in Florida. They hired out to a third party, Smooth Lines relocation. This is absolutely ridiculous that this happened. This damage needs to be fixed properly and fully. My walls need repaired, my entertainment center needs repairs. This should never have happened and I am very frustrated. Safe Bound came highly recommended, and I had put my faith that it would work with only a few minor scratches at most. Not major damage to my wall and plaster and an entertainment center partially unusable and ruined. This was a very expensive entertainment center that has major damage. I understand they had a long day with traffic and such, but that is no excuse for the major damage that happened. This is over $900 in damages. 1. When booking, and several times throughout emails, I mentioned that the moving truck had to fit in my driveway, because there was nowhere else for it to park, per my HOA rules. When the truck arrived, it was a large Enterprise truck that absolutely did not fit in my driveway and also took up the entire road. I had several neighbors that couldn't make it through the one way road. We specifically paid extra so there would be a smaller vehicle that could fit in my driveway. It did not fit in my driveway. I was told by the driver "Well, this is what you get when you pay for that, so it's this or nothing". 2. Upon completion, I noticed they took the corner off my wall, made a few dents, and scrapes. As you can see from the pictures below, we just finished painting the evening before. We didn't have anything moved in, this was all brand new damage from the movers. 3. My entertainment center is incredibly damaged. One bookshelf has a door that no longer closes. Nearly everything is scratched in some way. A few scratches, I wouldn't have minded. But there are scratches on nearly every piece of furniture that was in perfect condition upon leaving my fathers house. REPOSTING SO NO ONE MAKES THE SAME MISTAKE I DID USING THIS COMPANY: Most inconsiderate and unprofessional moving company I have ever used. Total con artists at every single level of this company. Will, the salesman, was difficult to reach and when I finally did a video call with him to show him my inventory, he completely underestimated the amount and size of stuff I had, and when the movers arrived I was quoted an EXTRA $1300 to what I had originally been quoted. The next set of lies from Safebound came during my contractual 2 day pick up window. Safebound called and confirmed a pick up time during the second day of my 2 day pick up window. Then, during the pick up window, Safebound called and told me they would not be able to pick up my stuff that day due to their incompetence and misjudgment picking up an earlier shipment that day, even though I had been waiting around all day for them and was guaranteed to have my items picked up that day. I spoke on the phone with both Caley and Nora at Safebound, who both lied and assured me they communicated with the driver and he could be there at 7 am the next day (which was already out of my pick up window on the contract safebound signed with me). I was supposed to have left the state by that time but safebound gave me no other option but to wait on them. The next day, when the driver still had not arrived on the later end of my pick up window, I called the office and was not able to get in touch with anyone till 9:30 am. The driver did not show up after until 11 AM (outside of the latest time of the pick up window I was given). The driver, Miguel, was extremely rude and unprofessional. He did not communicate with me whatsoever or give me any sort of 20 minute warning (which safebound promises their drivers give) before arriving. Caley, the manager, assured me I could speak to her regarding a discount for the huge inconvenience caused by this entire nightmare. Of course, when I called Caley before submitting my second payment, she had just left the office, in the middle of a weekday, to start her weekend early. When my items were delivered, it was realized that Miguel, the incompetent driver, had miscounted my inventory and my end table, hand-painted for me by my mother, had gotten lost. Safebound never found my item and I am now in the process of filing a claim for it. Please, whatever you do, DO NOT USE SAFEBOUND MOVING COMPANY. Use a professional company that cares about its customers and values customer service. Every single person who works at this company- from Nora to Chris to Caley to Will to Miguel, is an absolute liar and will do whatever it takes to get as much money out of you as they can. I am still in awe of how this company can treat people the way they do and remain in business. I have reported their negligence and their unethical profits before people business practices. Before safebound responds with a message saying I am not in their system as a customer ( as I’ve noticed they do with any negative review), I have a bill of lading and inventory list I can upload to this review to prove otherwise. Update regarding Safebound's reply saying their "Client care manager" will contact me: Customer/Client care did contact me, however, like everyone else at this company, Andrew, the Client care manager, lied to me. He pretended to have sympathy and care about what Safebound put me through and even told me he would rectify it by reimbursing me for a portion of the moving cost. After trying to contact him multiple times to follow up on this reimbursement, he never replied to any of my emails or phone messages and I never received any sort of compensation. ORIGINAL POST: I had a long-distance move (which may be a different experience than a local move), but in sum: the customer service was painful, the move took a lot longer than I expected, my 65 inch TV ended up smashed/unworkable, and they asked me to pay for two of their parking tickets Full story: I sought moving quotes from South Florida to NY. Brightline moving called, and they gave me a great quote. I was in a good and trusting mood that day, so I booked it on the spot. They had a fair amount of positive google reviews, although the complaints on the BBB website were pretty scathing (https://www.bbb.org/us/fl/west-palm-beach/profile/moving-and-storage-companies/safebound-moving-storage-0633-90350582/complaints). Closer to the date, I got a call from Safebound moving. They were handling the move. During the move day, they tried to charge me for a distance fee because the truck had to park a little further down the road. The foreman also told me that I was allotted 300 cubic feet and that my furniture/items were more than this. I found this hard to believe, given that I was shipping less than what I provided on the inventory list. I decided to leave some items behind (a desk, a chair, a mirror, a nightstand) so I wouldn’t have to pay that fee. Once my furniture was in storage, it was impossible to find out when it was going to ship. I emailed/called numerous people from Brightline and Safebound, but no one could give me a clear answer. I spoke to one of the employees on the phone, and he told me he didn’t care about my frustration and that I was being a d*** . My furniture ended up shipping 2 weeks later. They’re legally allowed to do this, which they liked to remind me on multiple occasions. It was supposed to arrive on a Thursday between 12-2, except the driver told me at 2 that they had an issue with the warehouse, so it would arrive the next day instead. They arrived the next day. There was plenty of parking space available in front of the building, but they somehow ended up getting 2 parking tickets! They told me that it was my responsibility, but that I should fight the second one. They were in a rush to get out. When I unpacked the TV box, I noticed that the tv had completely cracked and was unworkable. I’m now filing an insurance claim. I’m happy my furniture finally arrived. And the price was reasonable. During the move day, they tried to charge me for a distance fee because the truck had to park a little further down the road. The foreman also told me that I was allotted 300 cubic feet and that my furniture/items were more than this. I found this hard to believe, given that I was shipping less than what I provided on the inventory list. I decided to leave some items behind (a desk, a chair, a mirror, a nightstand) so I wouldn’t have to pay that fee. Once my furniture was in storage, it was impossible to find out when it was going to ship. I emailed/called numerous people from Brightline and Safebound, but no one could give me a clear answer. I spoke to one of the employees on the phone, and he told me he didn’t care about my frustration and that I was being a d*** . My furniture ended up shipping 2 weeks later. They’re legally allowed to do this, which they liked to remind me on multiple occasions. It was supposed to arrive on a Thursday between 12-2, except the driver told me at 2 that they had an issue with the warehouse, so it would arrive the next day instead. They arrived the next day. There was plenty of parking space available in front of the building, but they somehow ended up getting 2 parking tickets! They told me that it was my responsibility, but that I should fight the second one. They were in a rush to get out. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The lies began as soon as I spoke to the sales department. By the way, these guys have a bullpen sales force that lies about their names and give false testimony to the fact they are reputable and care about each customer. The move out was torture where a team came in and threw my personal property around and laughed about it. I would have stopped everything that day but my home was sold and I had to vacate. These so-called movers destroyed almost every single thing they packed. They doubled the price given after several video conferences denied my access to the storage facility and in plain language are simply criminals. Boxes were smashed, expensive items broken, furniture not packed just squeezed into the truck and in several items vanished nowhere to be found. They are reimbursing me for the damaged items and the rest of my experience with the company. *** Go on this ‘one star’ moving journey with me utilizing Safebound Moving and Storage: I called Safebound Moving and Storage and talked to them about my moving needs. They seemed really great and facetimed me to see what I had in my apartment. I told them how many bins I would have and we wrote all of my items down. They then gave me a reasonable price that I accepted. When moving day came they walked in and changed the price, even though no items had been added to the move. They increased the price by $1,000 and since I had to be out that day I had no choice but to accept it. Praying that this would be the only hiccup in the process. Oh how wrong I was. I was then told that my items would arrive to me in Northern New York within 7-14 days, but most likely within 7. I called on the 7th day asking if they had any idea when my stuff would arrive and they informed me they had yet to load it onto the truck. On the 14th day I tried again and was once again met with the answer, it has not been loaded on the truck. Almost 3 weeks had passed before I got a phone call that my things were on the way. I received a phone call from the movers that they told me they would be here on Friday at 8:00am. So I got up early that morning to await their arrival. At 10:00 am they called me and said “we will not be there until tomorrow after 8:00am.” Slightly annoyed but understanding I waited another day. The movers then arrived at 7:45 am, which I am not complaining about but thankful I was up and ready to meet them! They brought my stuff in a U-haul and told me their moving truck broke down, they had to unpack and repack everything on the truck, they decided to take their time getting to me, and they slept in their truck that night. When they opened the truck it was clear my stuff had been carelessly tossed in. Bins were turned sideways, misshapen, lids halfway ripped off, items were scattered all over, and two lamps were smashed to pieces. Still I held my tongue and just hoped I packed everything well enough that it didn’t break in the incredible mishandling it went through. When everything was off the truck I noticed the movers starting to jump into the truck. I asked him “Wait, aren’t you going to reassemble everything that the other movers took apart?” – Side note I just had Achilles surgery so putting things together on my own was not a possibility- The movers promptly told me “Absolutely not.” I said “But it’s in the contract I signed with the company? I have all the tools you need and can even guide you, but I can’t do it on my own in my condition right now.” To which the movers responded “Not my problem. Not my job.” Before I could look in the truck to make sure all of my stuff was off it they slammed the back door closed and jumped into the truck and took off. This company is disgusting 😠 long story short they misquoted me by over $2000 that I had to pay more. The quote was $2300 they decided to charge us $4500. They told me no more then 10 days and they delivered my furniture almost a month later! Our experience with Safebound was horrendous. They had great reviews (please sort and look at 1 star reviews, they are all consistent with our experience, leading me to believe that the other are fraudulent- for example, my husband posted a 1 star review and I couldn't even find it the next day!). They had a very friendly person in customer service, Luke, who assured me they handled all moves themselves and did not sub contract to other moving companies (the contract states they do, and they do!), so this was the first lie, though I didn't realize till too late (they don't send the full contract till well into the process). (FYI. Luke could not be reached again once I paid my deposit despite assuring me that "unlike other moving companies, I will be your one point of contact" laughable!). We added a few items on the day of our move, and so they added about 2k to our total move cost, I agreed and we moved on. AFTER THEY HAD ALL OF OUR STUFF loaded into their truck, they doubled our total cost! It went from $16,500 to $37,000. Clearly we were not prepared to pay this amount (we learned afterwards that federal law prohibits them from raising our costs after they have our items, it is called holding them hostage, rightfully so!). Given we have 3 very small children and were moving across the country, we agreed to compromise and pay them 4k more than even our revised estimate. They then took an extra week to arrive - told us 3-21 days, turns out they meant business days (business days is not written in the contract). They contracted out the whole move and it was a disaster, about a quarter of our items were damaged, our dining room table and chairs, when my treadmill was smashed (how do you damage metal that strong?!), my daughters wooden craft table, our baby changing table, and tons of other items (large mirrors completely smashed etc.). After my items were picked up, I asked if we could increase our insurance on our items because I was concerned that the sib contester may have damaged some stuff, sone they were angry we did not agree to the 37k. Michael at Safebound, who stated he was a manager told me it was too late, I have now found out that was a total lie and that you can increase insurance coverage after pickup prior to delivery. This last piece is why I finally decided to post a review - this experience has been so miserable that I didn't even want to post, but the amount of lying, deceit and preying on people who do not know the federal laws of out of state moves is completely unacceptable. Whatever you do - DO NOT USE SAFEBOUND MOVING, look at their BBB score, it is an F - trust all of the people who took the time to do these reviews to keep others from experiencing the horrendous "service" these predators provide. My move was arranged/booked for Sat 12/12/2020 and I expressed my desire for the movers to arrive at my condo early that morning as my building doesn't allow moving after 6PM. The move involved (2) pickups, the first from my condo and the second from my girlfriend’s townhouse. Contents from both locations were then to be delivered to our new house ~ 2 miles away. The Friday before, I received a call stating the movers would arrive between 7-9AM. On the day of the move, at 10AM I received a call that they now would be arriving between 12-3PM. At 3PM I received another call stating it would be closer to 4PM. At 5PM, they arrived. I expressed concern as the condo would not allow movers in the building after 6PM but figured we would try as the building would not allow moving the following day, Sunday. I left the movers to their work and grabbed dinner. At 9PM I was called as the security guard kicked the movers out of my building threatening to call the police. When I arrived back at my building, the movers were all sitting outside eating pizza and drinking Corona beers (really should have taken a picture of this). With less than half my condo contents packed and moved out to their truck, we proceeded to my girlfriend’s townhouse. The movers were able to pack her contents up in a couple hours and we then proceeded to the new house just before midnight. We arrived at our new house and the movers unpacked the contents. At a little after 1AM, I was presented with the bill for 4.5 hrs, half of this was to be billed as overtime. Obviously, any overtime would have been due to the several moves the movers did prior to them arriving to our location. As it was extremely late and I didn’t want to argue and figured I would discuss with the corporate HQ on Monday, I signed and paid the amount. We then agreed that the movers would finish moving the remaining contents from my condo that Monday 12/14. I did not realize until after the fact that the receipt I was given for the 12/12 move was not itemized with the hourly charges. My black Bose bluetooth speaker which was used for music/conference calls at the beginning of the day on 12/14 was sitting on my girlfriend’s desk was stolen by one of the movers. At one point one of the movers needed help moving things out of the way across the room to make room for a piece of furniture. We moved items to my girlfriend’s desk to make room. This is the last time I saw that black Bose bluetooth speaker. Later that evening we searched for it to play music and it was gone. We looked on and all around the desk, nowhere to be found. The second item that was stolen which I’m ashamed to admit I actually witnessed was when I saw one of the movers carrying my DeWalt drill bits into the truck. At the time I wasn’t positive these drill bits were mine because they are a common tool but I thought it was strange as all their tools were the Ryobi brand and these drill bits were DeWalt. The last time I used these drill bits was on the previous day to build a fence gate. The drill bits and several of my tools I moved myself the previous day and the drill bits were inside a large black DeWalt toolbox. The next day (after the move was completed), I went to look for the drill box inside my DeWalt tool box and noticed they were gone. I then realized the drill bits I actually witnessed the mover holding were in fact mine. This was chilling as I realized the mover actually opened my tool box and helped himself to what he wanted. When I looked at my credit card statement I noticed 3 charges from Safeboundmoving, one of which was supposed to be a deposit but it turns out, this wasn’t credited to the total amount I was charged and I therefore was charge almost a thousand dollars above the quoted amount. We were told that if we do not pay an additional $1000 more that we would lose our deposit. I had a blue suitcase that is very unique (not a typical cardboard box) which had extremely valuable items and when I gave that luggage at pick up in Miami I asked the drivers to take extra care of it as it was of extreme importance to me. It is exactly that luggage that they never returned, amongst many other items including 2 large boxes (again of value), a brand new expensive rug. When I asked the Michael from Safebound about how this could have happened, the answer I got was 'it happens' and on a regular basis too, EVERY MONTH THEY LOSE ITEMS (according to anther person on their team Stalky). When I told them the blue suitcase is of extreme importance, they asked me for a list if the valuable items it had inside it. I was then told I shouldn't have given them valuable items. To add to this terrible nightmare, not only did they tell use three different delivery dates and not keep their promise delaying each time but we are still without a bed. They only had one bed to disassemble and assemble, and even that they did not do. After they collect more money, they left the bed in somebody else's garage in a communal area. The ABSOLUTE worst moving company we have EVER employed. After paying around $3000, they delayed bringing us our stuff for over a week (without even telling us that they delayed it; we had to call them to inquire where our stuff was since the moving truck never came on the day it was supposed to). Second, several of the boxes came off the truck, wet and broken apart. Third, several of our items came off the truck broken. Fourth, our daybed (that the movers took apart) came off the truck missing both the foot board and the back board, thereby making it no way for the bed to be put back together. After calling the company many times, and getting the run around and blind transferred to voicemails (with no return call ever, by the way), in addition to the email they tell you to write in to that no one gets back to you on.... we finally came to the conclusion that they keep giving us the run around and not responding back to us because they’re hoping that we go away. I never got a call back before from Michael (the operations manager) or Kaley (who I guess is supposed to be the supervisor/claims contact). All we get is ‘call us back tomorrow or in a couple days’. We ended up having to buy a temporary bed for my son so that he could have somewhere to sleep while we wait for these guys to find the rest of the bed that they lost. At this point, I’m convinced they offload our missing bed parts at somebody else’s house because even when the movers were bringing our stuff into our new house, they brought in other people’s items and I had to tell them that ‘sir, those items do not belong to us’. The mover complained that a lot of the boxes weren’t labeled right, so he wasn’t sure what’s ours and what’s not. So basically, we assume that one of the movers must of offloaded our bed at somebody else’s place. In conclusion, trying to get resolution for our lost and broken items is a loss cause with this company. So save your money, choose another company to entrust your stuff to... at least if you want to make sure that you get all your stuff back. UPDATE: In February of 2021, Safebound reached out to me claiming that they have made changes to their business policies and personnel. They offered additional compensation to prove their sincerity and resolve my complaint. I accepted their offer. Original: Safebound prepared fraudulent documents and damaged our belongings during my family's move last July. In working through complaints with various consumer and government agencies, they have repeatedly accused me of lying (despite evidence to the contrary) and have offered only 8% of our moving costs in exchange for our silence. I believe the public deserves to hear about my experience and include it below. Safebound Logistics sent only one person to load our belongings (Mike P.), and we saw him damage a Paloma II dining table and Andover floor mirror, both from Crate & Barrel. While loading, he pointed out to us a single shelf that was scratched, but because he did that, we assumed that he would bring to our attention any cosmetic issues he noticed. Instead, he fraudulently and incorrectly marked that literally every piece of furniture was in a damaged condition at origin. To do so, Mike P. used numeric codes that weren’t immediately clear and then pressured us to sign the paperwork quickly because he was desperate to get on the road. We didn’t notice or understand the damage codes when we signed the paperwork, and he certainly didn’t point them out. After delivery, we figured out the meaning of the numeric codes and found that those codes don't even match the location of damages we claimed. For example, Mike P. marked all 8 dining chairs, an armchair, an end table, 2 beds, a 3rd dresser, and a 3rd nightstand as scratched and/or soiled, but all are still in perfect condition. This proves that his list of damages is fraudulent. Instead, many of our items were damaged during the move due to Safebound's negligence. They even lost an essential part of our sofa, rendering it unusable. Additionally, we chose Safebound because their sales team promised that our items would remain on a single truck for the entire move, but then they then unloaded and reloaded the entire shipment. This likely contributed to the damages we incurred. While our items were in transit, I asked for a final cost so I could have a bank check ready at delivery. They emailed a final price, but then demanded another $228 in charges before they would unload our furniture. Given all of this, I believe that fraud and false claims are common practice for Safebound. We have reached out to the company directly, filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), and endured a nearly year-long settlement process with the industry-biased, third-party, CSI Pros platform. At the end of the day, Safebound offered to buy our silence for less than 8% of what we paid. All the while, they have continued to defend their incompetent employees in spite of damaged goods and fraudulent documents. Worse yet, when they replied to the FDACS, they twisted my words and then accused me of lying despite clear evidence to the contrary. In closing, here is what we learned about Safebound Logistics. Get every detail in writing, though in our case, they didn’t even honor what they put in writing. Furthermore, watch the loading crew (or individual) like a hawk. They will mark that everything you own is damaged. Read every line of every page and ask that they explain (in writing) every stray mark written on the page, because if you don’t, they will later claim it means you agreed that every piece of furniture you own was damaged before they loaded it. Finally, if you choose to entrust your belongings to them, you should definitely take out insurance to protect from the mistakes they will certainly make. Apparently, protecting your items from damage is not included in the price they will quote—it’s like a car company charging an extra fee to make sure the new car you bought has no manufacturing defects. Ok so here is the backstory on this move: I bought a ridiculously expensive 8’ 200lb mirror down in Southern Florida over the internet and needed to ship it up to Boston. Mind you I BOUGHT this thing without having a plan in place to transport it. I called maybe 25 shipping companies. Freight companies, furniture moving companies, white-glove companies… no one would touch it. They all told me the same thing, 1) it’s glass, 2) it isn’t in a crate, 3) it’s too valuable. I was at a loss. I called a buddy down in Florida (Peter Wedge – CEO luxury lifestyle concierge – out of Wellington FL) and he put me in touch with SafeBound. “They do all my stuff”, he told me “they’re the best.” I called the number he gave me and spoke directly to Mike the owner. He told me “Ben, we got this.” He gave me a very reasonable price, said he would personally go to the location with one of his guys and take care of the moving. “This is great!” I thought. One problem though, it still needed to be wrapped and packaged. “Don’t worry sweat it, Ben” Mike told me. “My job is to get it to you and in one piece, so I’ll do whatever needs to be done to get it to your door.” Unreal. The day of Mike even offered to handle paying for the mirror for me and added the cost to the bill. Like honestly, where can you possibly get THAT LEVEL of service in this day and age. ONE-STOP-SHOP. Safebound got the mirror to my apartment up in Boston about 5 days later (I was in no rush). When they showed up the delivery guys couldn’t have been nicer, more respectful and more professional. I tipped them generously and as they were leaving, Mike called me personally to make sure everything went OK. I literally spent the next 5-6 minutes of that call telling him his business was one-in-a-million and the level of specialty service these guys provide is exceptional, BAR-NONE. Seriously, whatever you’re trying to move call them. They’ll take care of it.
