Despite the challenges of an 80-degree day and a broken elevator, the workers managed to move everything from my wife and I's apartment down six flights of stairs. It’s taken me a month to do this !!! But life’s been so busy ! Steve and Jonathan were amazing! From the start in Brooklyn to the finish in NJ ! Wow they packed everything and made this move unbelievably EASY! they treated every single piece of my furniture, like it was their own. They even wrap my salt and pepper shakers. I’ve relocated 6 times within New York City, and my recent move with Roadway Moving was by far the best and least stressful experience. Working with their team for the first time, I am grateful for their kindness, professionalism, and overall wonderful service. Moving in New York City can be complicated and stressful, but this time, I actually enjoyed the process. The Roadway team arrived on time, quickly assessed everything in the apartment, and devised a plan for the day. My husband and I didn't have to lift a finger; we even had time to take our puppy to the dog park! Despite having many large and fragile pieces of furniture, including a massive marble table from the 70s, a glass coffee table, and two oversized gold mirrors, the Roadway team handled everything with the utmost care. I booked Roadway because I had to move unexpectedly in short notice and I couldn't have possibly done it myself. I packed most of my things but when they arrived, they helped me pack the few items I had left quickly. The foreman, Richard was amazing and he assured my family that our things were in good hands. They even moved our refrigerator down the stairs with no problem! When we arrived to our new house they didn't waste no time and got straight to bringing our stuff upstairs. Although we had so many items they managed to get everything done in just a few hours. I've moved around a lot when I was younger but never with a moving company. Over the last 30 years, we have had more than 12 corporate moves all over the country and dozens more local ones in multiple states and cities. This was my first time using movers and Roadway Movers made my move SO easy and stress free. They were super responsive and helpful from the very beginning. After I reached out they promptly called me to go over all of my belongings and move details. Every person I interacted with (from my move coordinator to the movers themselves) was so kind and helpful. The movers arrived early, with masks on, and within just a couple hours I was settled into my new apartment. They really went the extra mile too. I had some miscellaneous stuff that I hadn’t packed and they boxed it up for me in no time, they disassembled and reassembled all of my furniture, put all of my boxes in the correct rooms, and to top it all off they even hung up my hanging clothes in my new apartment. Can’t recommend these guys enough if you have an upcoming move! My husband and I moved cross-country from San Francisco to Boston and the entire process from consultation to delivery was so seamless. We went with their full-pack service and it was worth every penny (they packed EVERYTHING for us, we literally did not pack a single box, so were able to enjoy the last few weekends leading up to our move instead of being stuck at home packing). I have moved a few times and this one by far was the best moving experience I ever had! The team was so professional and helpful! They provided me with lots of boxes to pack all my belongings a few days before my moving date, then on the day of my moving they finished up packing all my glassware, mirrors, frames and sensitive items very meticulously to make sure nothing would break. I've moved a lot in the past several years, but my move a couple of days ago with Roadway Moving was by far the smoothest. Richard + the team were right on time at 9am in the morning, and got all of my boxes and furniture out of my old apartment in the East Village within an hour and a half. From there, I met them at my new apartment in Kips Bay, and they had everything there within the next hour and a half. All of my furniture and boxes were transferred safely with no breakages, and Richard + team also helped me to break down and re-place my furniture. My family had a great time moving with Roadway Moving from Los Angeles down to Orange County. This was our 7th move in the past 8 years and we wish we had found them way back for our move #1. This wasn't an easy move going from the steep hills and many steps of Laurel Canyon down to Orange County and a brand new 3 story home making sure not to ding any of the new walls and railings. All which was a success!! Gary, Carlos, Felipe & Luis worked so hard and diligently the entire day and late into the night and even returned a few days later for more items that didn't fit into the truck. True professionals in every sense of the word. We went with pack and move which was a DREAM! These guys are EXCELLENT packers they honestly packed better than I ever would have taking great care to protect fragile items and write IN DETAIL the contents of each box. They were FAST! I just completed my move yesterday and everything was EXCELLENT. I cannot express how happy I am with all aspects of the process. I will start by saying I did a ton of research before selecting my movers. Roadway had the most transparent pricing and best customer service. I had about 50 questions all of which my sales rep, Tony, helped me with. I opted for the full move with packing service (highly recommend). The day of my move I literally did nothing and just sat there while 3 men efficiently and carefully packed every single item in my 1 bedroom NYC apartment. Update: -------- I was contacted by the owner of the company and customer service manager the day of my initial review. I was very impressed with their immediate response. They looked into my case and acknowledged my issues. They mentioned that the time of my move was their busiest season which may have affected the quality of care. I have been promised a generous reimbursement (20% of what I paid in total+ stuff we left behind) for my bad experience and they have assured me that they will look into it to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone again. For their prompt reply I give them an overall 4 Star! Where do I begin. I write this honest review because I was fooled by the amount of great reviews for this place and was very disappointed. The sales manager was professional and looked up my address on google maps to make it seem like he's served people from there before. The Movers on the day of, spent an hour filling paperwork for me to sign. They made sure that I knew that a 15% gratuity was expected which was$700. They did not pick up my closet, the largest and heaviest item I wanted to move, because they weren't comfortable taking it down and they did not reimburse me for the difference. They made sure to take goring detail packing furniture to make it seem like they did a lot of work. The driver was very rude and the boxes I packed and labeled fragile were destroyed. After sales service was horrible, whoever called me was regurgitating the same words over and over again without actually listening to what I say. Also they didn't call as promised before delivering. Honestly I am shocked that this place has 5 stars! I had a less than great experience. I'll start from the top, but as a headline, let's just say every issue I had with them stemmed from EXTREMELY poor communication...both with me the customer and internally. The start of my journey with Roadway moving from NYC to SF was great, the sales person was awesome in the beginning. Made me feel very comfortable about my move and I felt like everything was in good hands. They were very competitively priced and seemed very fair with pricing (not trying to get you at every corner). The good news is that this didn't change. There were no hidden fees, I'll definitely give them that! You do have to use your debit card for the final balance of 80% the total bill though, so that may be why (no credit card allowed). Day of the move, I needed them to make one stop at a different location from my apartment to pick up a large piece of furniture. No problem, they charged $75 for it. Great, all set. My window to start the move was between 1-3pm. I decided to head over to that location around 1:15pm. Waited. Waited. Wasted time, but I wanted to make sure I was there for them on time. 3:15pm rolls around, I give them a call. Oh, there's been some issues, they will now be on their way at 5:30. Nobody thought to call me, or had the courtesy to do so. I wasted a couple hours already waiting for them and if I didn't call, they just were going to show up way later than the window? Keep in mind, this was my last night in NYC, I had plans that evening and the reason why you plan your day is so that you can plan other things too. Really rude. I go back and forth with them, tell them it's really not going to work. I had to change my whole evening around, wasted a ton of my time. They ended up showing up around 6:15pm. They brought extra guys so that they could get the job done much quicker, which I really appreciated. They also gave me a credit. They finished around 8:30pm. Definitely not ideal, but at the end of the day I was just happy it was done. Fast forward to the arrival in SF. My drop off location changed, I emailed my sales guy, I didn't hear back. I get a notice that I can no longer change the address, so I email reminding them that I need to. No response. So I call. No problem at all, they change the address. I confirm again that the drop off window will be Tuesday-Thursday. They confirm and say that the driver will call me 24 hours beforehand to be more specific on timing. Great! 2 hours or so after that conversation, the driver calls me and said he's arriving today (Monday) and that he needs to drop off my stuff. Yes this could be great that my stuff is arriving a day before they said, but there's something called coordination. Ummm I'm at work. Lots of back and forth, waiting around. Not just easy to drop everything?! I finally make him commit to a time and gives me a 3-4pm window, so I leave work and go get the keys to my new apartment. I say please call me when you're close. No call or text, 4pm passes, I call him and he says he's about 30 min out. Just annoying. All of our time is valuable and this waiting around game is inconsiderate. Finally we connect and they start moving my things in. As I saw my things coming in, I was a little horrified. My boxes marked "fragile" are squished as shit, mangled. I haven't had a chance to go through everything yet, but I opened one box and there were definitely things broken. Luckily the things I realllly didn't want to be broken, weren't. But that's no thanks to them, that was just luck. The guy explained the problem was my boxes. No, the problem is not putting fragile things on top. Mind you, I got all of my boxes from an actual moving company. I'm scared to go through the rest of my things to be honest. Finally they were done, the guy charged me. I didn't have the paperwork with me, but today as I looked at everything, it looks like he charged me the full price without the credit they gave me. The credit was on the paperwork I signed back in NYC. So I had to call them. The office didn't have the credit. So I had to explain everything. Now I have to wait for them to talk to billing before I can get my money back. Again, alllll poor communication. Awful!!! I will give them this. Their customer service people are really lovely and wonderful. Undecided if I would ever actually use them again or if I would recommend them to a friend. I've gotta say, these guys are amazing. I moved using them last time in Manhattan and for $500 (their minimum at the time) they moved 40ish boxes in maybe two hours. I figured since I had a great experience, I'll try them again, so called them first and got a very competitive price (shopped around to all the other movers in the area - only a couple hundred more for all my extra furniture) - so booked them hassle free in 15 minutes on the phone. great customer service, efficient and clearly know what they're doing now moving day - huge snowstorm, visibility of basically nothing and a sheet of horizontal snow outside my window. they called once before they were 30m out, brought a crew of 8 people and moved out an entire 2br (couch, tables, bedroom, tv's, chairs, 50 gorilla boxes) without blinking. they loaded everything up in about 1.5hr - carefully packing and wrapping every piece. even small details, which I appreciate - like taping each end of custom glass I made for a coffee table so the cushion pads wouldn't fall off in the move! they were professional, clean, efficient - no hidden costs, no hassle whatsoever. A year ago I moved from NYC to Montreal/QC. Roadway took care of everything for us. They packed and organized all my furniture really well, they took care of the papers I needed for this out of country move, and provided storage for a month, until we got a place in Montreal. It was a really smooth process, the costumer service and staff was polite and professional. The guys who came to pack and load the container were really efficient and had a good attitude.
