If you're looking for a bad review, this isn't it. These people are great. We sought a few estimates for a 200-mile out-of-town move. One estimate said the move would take 3 days, Prodigy said they could do it in 2, and as a result Prodigy was lower cost and got the job. 2 days to pack, and then move and unload 2 trucks on the 2nd day. Iliya came to our house to estimate, and couldn't have been more professional to work with. He gave me his mobile so we could easily communicate. The packing crew arrived on time, led by Martin, and I was impressed by their professionalism, their friendly and courteous behavior, and their willingness to be helpful. Very nice people, every one of them. We had a fair amount of furniture to move, shelving units, beds with headboards, dressers, a large entertainment credenza with large TV, and, of course, vases, crystal, plates, and glassware. On arrival at our new house, the crew took care to place every box in the proper room, and re-assembled and properly placed the heavy furniture. When I say 'place', they took the effort to make sure we eyeballed the furniture and that they positioned things where we wanted them. We had a lot of heavy items, which posed no problem for these guys, and their assistance with placement was much appreciated. As we unpacked the boxes over the next few days, what seems like an unending task, we thought we were missing one item of artwork. I reached out to Iliya, who began an internal process to see if they had it, and was contacted by Emily, who oversaw the internal effort. In the end, we found the item at the bottom of a box (packed by us!) that wasn't fully unpacked - there was no missing item after all. But I mention this as their professionalism was again in the spotlight with the sincere and coordinated effort to find what we thought was missing artwork. My last point is the longevity of employment for Prodigy's people. In an earlier move with a different company, I learned that many of the workers were contractors and floated among various moving companies. But with Prodigy, the people I spoke with had been employed by the company 5, 7, 15 years. In my book, that says a lot about Prodigy as an employer, and points to consistency in service. Prodigy movers and all the 6 men involved in our moving process were outstanding!! I must say when I price checked the company it was the lowest quote I received. Not to mention, there was no in-home estimate given. Based on the square footage of my home, bedroom count, etc, Abby said it would take 3-4hrs with 3 men and one truck. It took me by surprise and made me question, "Why? Do they do a poor job? Do they not return everything? Are they going to scam me into needing another truck?" I was a nervous wreck but in the end choose Prodigy based on all the 5-star reviews on Yelp and Google. From start to finish the communication from the office, to the men who showed up and worked hard (knowing they were paid by the hour) and in the summer heat. They cared for the furniture and belongings like it was theirs. Due to our escrow process, our furniture needed to be stored in their facility, which was another thing to be nervous about since Abby said the first 30 days were free! "Would everything come back?" All the other competition is charging for storage. Prodigy showed up yesterday with every box and item I gave them and moved it into our new home, scratch and dent free. Prodigy and their staff were exceptional and professional through and through. Veronica explained the costs very clearly and she followed up with me a week or so after the initial call to plan everything out. On moving days (we did two separate days), the moving guys, Jesus Meza (Foreman), David, Pedro, Kevin, and Jose "3", arrived within the scheduled time frame, took excellent care of protecting and packaging all of our belongings, carefully loading them unto the truck, and taking just as much care in unloading the truck at the new location. We are thankful that a site like Angie's List exists, which allowed us to find a reliable company like Prodigy Moving & Storage. Based on my own personal experience, I would recommend them HIGHLY to anyone in need of professional movers. because that's just what they were, thoroughly professional and pleasant and made the pain of moving much less painful! We had the WORST moving experience ever using this company! We have moved a lot throughout the years including overseas and across many States. I chose Prodigy due to their Angie's List reviews and couldn't believe the ridiculous and careless experience their crew provided us. I had left a couple of boxes open to put the last few pieces into and they kept trying to box them up and take them despite me telling them over and over I didn't want those couple of boxes to go and to please collect the rest of the ready-to-move items sitting there. In the end I couldn't control their rushing about everywhere and those boxes were removed giving me a problem of the last few things I wanted to chuck into them. We had our own U-haul and explained that most items would be going into ours and some into theirs to be unloaded, we had labeled things explaining which truck to move them onto and were giving them instructions, but they just kept trying to get it done so quickly that I could see them being careless and not putting things in the correct truck; my father-in-law actually had no bed for the night after our move since we couldn't get to it in our loaded up truck since we had specifically stated that was to go on their truck, so it could be unloaded and instead they had buried it in ours. We asked them no less than 15 times to please slow down, that we weren't in a rush and were happy to pay for as long as it took to get the job done in an orderly and less chaotic manner, it wasn't until they had broken a piece off of our $900 dining room table and scratched it all making us finally tell them off that they began to take their time and care more. The main guy on the crew came to look at the table and had the audacity to proclaim that our table wasn't broken, after seeing the broken wood pieces he then said it was a mickey mouse piece and didn't do anything anyway, it was actually the wood piece that stops the leaf moving too far and falling out when the table is extended to full size, so it absolutely has an important use. I had to have a friend physically go and put some of the outdoor furniture onto their truck because despite my instructions (about 8 times) to please load those things onto their truck they for some reason didn't want to.. After loading up the trucks we said for them to follow us (we were moving 10 minutes north of where we lived), they then told us they were going to have lunch for an hour which of course after ur experience with them we were not going to accept them taking some of our belongings with them in their truck off to lunch for an hour, so we asked our friend to follow them and wait for them to have their lunch before following them to our house, since we did this in front of them they then decided they didn't want to be watched (this to us said our suspicions may have proven correct) and so they stopped by 7-11 for a quick sandwich instead of taking a long lunch. It only took 45 minutes for them to unload the stuff in their truck since the majority was in our truck and they were done for the day anyway. The company did offer us 1 hour compensation back and sent someone with the glued piece of the table and a retoucher for the scratches, so although once something is damaged you can't get it back to the way it should be at least it looks much better now. Overall the crew we got rushed us so much we hated the whole move, that along with them breaking our furniture, trying to immediately lie about doing so then saying the piece didn't do anything etc means I would never recommend this company ever to anyone I know. I contacted the company to move my furniture. Prior to the move, I spoke with Cory and advised him that the lacquer furniture had to be specially wrapped. The furniture had been completely refinished 18 months prior and I was worried about it getting damaged. Prodigy had gashes and deep scratches, paint lines on every piece of lacquer furniture. The owner sent out his repair person who stated that the only way that the furniture could be repaired was for it to be completely redone. The owner told me that he would only touch it up, which cannot be done with dark lacquer. Never let Prodigy move you because they never pay for anything that they damage. The owner advised me that over the phone Prints and paintings had gouges on the frames. One American flag print had a gouge in the from of it. Please do not use this company or you will wind up in small claims court. They are the worse moving company that I have ever used. Read More
