Even 6 months after the move I'm finding things that we're subtly broken by Piece of Cake Movers. Move with them if you want your stuff in pieces! Most of the broken things were obvious up front at least like my desktop computer which has been packed in the manufacturer packaging. FedEx shipped that with no issues, but Piece of Cake found a way to break it into pieces, crushing the front of the case and damaging the contents inside. Many other things (especially moved Kitchen appliances, like the espresso machine I just learned no longer turns on) were less obvious. We still have a box or two we are just dreading opening based on the sounds coming from inside. You'd think their movers would spend a second to ponder why the quiet box they packed was suddenly jingling after they threw it into the truck. Amazing service! We couldn't be any happier with how our move went. Everything from A to Z was handled efficiently and professionally. The email communication was fantastic.. Ellie, our representative was super helpful and always responded quickly to any questions or concerns we had. The crew arrived on time, and WOW do they work hard! Alejandro and his crew are like a well oiled machine- within minutes of arriving and assessing the situation, it was a whirlwind of wrapping and protecting all of our furniture, getting it down into the truck, and onto the new location. They took excellent care of all of our belongings, above and beyond what I expected. Piece of Cake Moving really lives up to its name. Moving is one of the most stressful things but they made the entire process such a breeze. PART 1 Sammy (Left) and Skander (Right) were excellent workers. They came 5 minutes early and finished very quickly. Everything was handled with care and they used blankets, boxes and bubble wrap to keep everything safe. Their attitude was great and they were really nice and cool to talk to. They respected our apartment and the building. I was nervous about the move at first, but after meeting the guys I knew we are in good hands. Thank you Adrian too for setting everything up and answering all my questions PART 2 Sasha Bajic (Left) and Zoran Stojkovic (Right) Did an excellent job with the dropoff of our items. All of our items were received in perfect condition, and they did the job very quickly. They built all the furniture back very fast and correctly. I was not home until they were almost finished so my wife was the one who was with them. She felt very safe and comfortable being home without me because they were very nice and respectful. Their communication prior to arriving was also excellent. We were the last move on their truck and they had already traveled over 1000 miles and did 3 moves before handling our move. However their attitude was still great and they worked very hard regardless how exhausted they must have been. My experience with piece of cake as a whole was as excellent as I can express. Both moving crews, the pickup and dropoff crew, were legitimately happy for my wife and I to take this next step in life , and they were happy to help us with this move. I had great conversations with both crews. I worked with Piece of Cake to move between boroughs within NYC, and used their unpacking and packing services with plastic bin rentals. For a one-bedroom it costed around $2,000 including tip, which was reasonable. (Cost would be lower if you packed yourself, of course, but I very much appreciated the convenience of the packing service.) They brought a team of three people, and the experience was fantastic. Everything was packed and unpacked safely, with nothing broken. They took extra care with pieces of furniture that were a bit more delicate. And at the destination apartment they put everything in its place the best they could. The staff were very nice and professional, and helped out when they realized I underestimated exactly how much stuff I needed to move. My big recommendation is that if you use packing/unpacking, have a plan ahead of time. This isn't a criticism of Piece of Cake, it's just reality: things will go much more smoothly if you have an idea ahead of time where you want all your furniture and belongings to go in the new apartment. POC has now moved me twice - and both times were SEAMLESS. How it worked: called up POC and talked to Lukas - who became my email buddy. I basically told him what i was moving and he'd give me a quote or two. I'd realize i had more, and he'd adjust the quote if needed - and sometimes not - because he just added it in with the rest. The cost of moving PLUS packing was extremely fair and a good value so i tacked that on in the end. Not having to pack up my kitchen can be considered a previously undiscovered joy in life. After that, Lukas stayed in touch and told me when to expect the movers and provided all the paperwork my buildings needed as well. Day of - Ivan - the move leader texted and called to let me know they were on their way. Ivan came in early to assess what was needed, and then he, Tamir, and the 3rd strapping dude packed up my life in a matter of hours CAREFULLY and professionally. Not a single broken thing - (compared to 4 huge items from my previous movers ugh.) These guys were amazing - moved me out and then in to a new place and were friendly, funny, and just hardworking AF. A pizza party post-move outside was the least I could do for them. But POC didn't stop there - I'd also rented pink plastic boxes and the satisfaction of emptying and breaking down a box was different bc these just stack up to the ceiling - so called them and had them pick up ASAP. Giant Crossfit looking man rolled in and carried out 30 plastic containers like they were kids toys. From start to finish POC was EXCELLENT. Piece of Cake Moving was a last ditch effort to move from NYC to NC. I thought I was able to do this on my own, but this was far out of my league - but not for Piece of Cake. When Mustafa and his team showed up, they got to work!! Not only did they packaged and secured my valuables, they confirmed with every piece of my precious cargo! They were empathetic, professional, courteous and very personable - like they saw it in my eyes that I was at a crossroads and didn't have a map to follow. Not only was I able to see that they knew how to properly pack all my belongings, I was able to leave without even worrying about my contents, since it was securely supervised at every step of the packing process. From the pictures, you can see how well everything was well protected from nicks and bumps, and packed into the truck with such care (even my fragile items were set to the side before being handled!) If I ever move again - I'm definitely calling on Piece of Cake and specifically requesting that Mustafa hand picks his team to support me on what was a very stressful time, to become something that I can really focus on... leaving my loved ones behind. I have yet to receive my stuff on the NC side (since the long distance move requires a range and I elected the shipping, since I couldn't afford the move to move), but I'm told that I get a tracking and all the advanced monitoring of where my belongs are... something that I was worried about at the beginning, but not any more... if the transition was anything like the on-time pick up and the service I was provided - I can actually sleep at night until my belongings arrive!! We hired Piece of Cake to move us from Jersey City to Washington DC. When all other companies declined to make the trip in one day, and quoted us 2.5x the cost (for delivery windows ranging from 3 days to 10 days), the obvious option was Piece of Cake. The agent we worked with was very responsive and helped clear up all questions we had, even the night before the big move. The crew showed up on moving day and immediately got to work. They carefully handled everything, asked us any questions they had about our belongings, and worked efficiently. Unfortunately, they got caught up at a weigh station for a couple hours and then had to take a detour. They kept checking in with us to let us know their progress throughout the night. They showed up at the delivery address at 11pm, and while we were exhausted, they were in great spirits and quickly unloaded the truck and put our furniture back together. Make sure you get insurance & take pics/vids of your items before they start packing, in case you get the type of movers that would cause such damage and then want to claim the item was already in such condition. Everything was going well until I realized they had damaged my bed frame while packing. I had even asked that they be very careful with both bed & bureau -they're black and any little scratch would be very noticeable. Thank God I happened go in the bedroom while they were still doing the drop-off of my boxes. When I asked for an explanation, especially given the rest of the bed frame was well packed with covers before they sealed with tape, this young man claimed the bed was already in that condition, & that they “don’t use covers on these parts of the bed”. Simply nonsense. And what a convenient coincidence - so the rest of the bed is pretty much intact but for the specific massive, peeled spots on the panels where it was taped/removed/retaped w/o covers. It was all infuriating to say the least. Maybe if he had been paying more attention instead of on his phone the whole time he was packing he’d have noticed he had not yet wrapped the two bed panels together in a cover before using tape on them. Getting some compensation from the Co. took a few emails. Nobody called even when I asked twice to be contacted on the phone. UPDATED: Piece of Cake readjusted my extra charges after a further conversation with them. I’m very thankful to the office staff for helping make it right. I moved out of my NYC apartment to another apartment in the neighborhood, with a third stop at a storage unit. Also used their packing service. I meticulously outlined everything involved in my move, down to the fact that my couch would likely not fit in the elevator, though all other items would. I was quoted $1,400, which has to be paid in advance. Other moving companies I’ve used in the past require only a deposit, and when they arrive do an audit of the inventory. Usually if there are any modifications to the quote, moving companies will adjust the price after they walk through the apartment but BEFORE beginning the job, at which point you sign the new quote in agreement and pay right before they start. When the 3 movers arrived, I emphasized and reiterated that the couch would not fit in the elevator and would need to be taken down the stairs. The lead mover said okay, and I took him on a walkthrough of everything else in the apartment. Nothing was adjusted at that point. As the packing proceeded, I noticed that the boxes were only being filled about halfway or 2/3 of the way. 20 boxes were included in my quote so I wanted to make sure they maximized usage of each box. So I kindly asked that they fill them up more. They continued to fill them only partially (pictures attached), and the lead mover still called the office to revise the quote to include more boxes and “additional packing services”. The office said the price increase was $400, making the total now $1,800. Because they used 32 boxes instead of 20. Four hundred dollars. For 12 extra boxes... boxes that weren’t even necessary in the first place. I contested the increase, and the office suggested we wait until the move was over to finalize the revised quote. Then came the issue of the couch which, as previously mentioned, was outlined in my description and discussed first thing with the mover. The lead mover said he had to call the office because the couch wouldn’t fit in the elevator….. which we’d already discussed. At this point I’m livid, because he was acting as if we’d not just discussed it a couple of hours earlier. He was rude, curt and dismissive. He calls the office, the office calls me, and I reiterate AGAIN that this was all mentioned in my description and asked that they please check my original submission. I told both the movers and the office that it seemed extremely dishonest for me to have had a full conversation with the mover about the couch prior to them starting the job, and for him to not call the office for the adjustment until hours in…. because he knew I would have cancelled the job upfront. Now I was stuck, with 90% of my stuff already in the truck. The couch was another $300 for taking it down 3 flights of stairs. I kid you not. So it went from a $1,400 quote to $2100 in a matter of hours… and that’s before tip. Our move with Piece of Cake was so much easier than moving by ourselves and the pricing was reasonable. We were moving from/to one bedroom apartments in Manhattan. We selected to get 30 plastic bins for packing. The bins were delivered as promised and included zip ties to close the bins, labels and packing paper (similar to the paper some retail stores use to pack fragile items). The bins held quite a lot, but we used all 30, to our surprise. Once a bin was packed, I made a label which got zip tied to the bin. Filled bins stacked easily. On moving day, the movers arrived within the time period we were given, and they called immediately before they came. We had two very courteous movers who worked very efficiently. They reviewed what they were to move and what we would handle ourselves. The bins were taken to the truck first. Then the furniture was taken, wrapped in moving blankets when warranted. At the new apartment, furniture was brought in and placed where we indicated, then the bins were brought in. It really was a ‘Piece of Cake’ using their service. BUYER BEWARE! Run far, far away from this moving company. They make promises they cannot keep, treat your personal items that you entrust them with like absolute garbage, and then disregard your grievances. The only thing that was a “piece of cake” in this entire $3,015 move was paying them. From that point on, customer service reps were unwarrantedly rude when I called for an update, even though I cited that texting the number as instructed in one of their emails was getting me no ETA update or response whatsoever. I was told to not call, that I’ll be sent an email when they have an update. On the final “guaranteed delivery date”, I placed a call to this business asking when I should be expecting my items and was told my items were still in New York, they hadn’t even attempted to deliver my items yet. They make promises they cannot keep, treat your personal items that you entrust them with like absolute garbage, and then disregard your grievances. The only thing that was a “piece of cake” in this entire $3,015 move was paying them. From that point on, customer service reps were unwarrantedly rude when I called for an update, even though I cited that texting the number as instructed in one of their emails was getting me no ETA update or response whatsoever. Truly amazed at the quality of service of this company. My preferred movers had quoted me $700 more than these guys. I picked Piece of Cake because their pricing was one of the most competitive on the market and they had the quickest ETA for long distance moves (1-14 days). Not having heard of them before, I carefully read reviews. I was a little worried because of one negative review on a long distance move that hadn't gone so well. Never have I come across such an outsanding service, across any industry: the reps and customer success teams were extremely responsive, from quoting to post-move. In 3 days, they quoted me, scheduled the pick up, emptied my storage unit, loaded up my items into a truck. The next day, the truck was on its way out of NY, arriving in Austin 3 days later. Total long distance move: 4 days. Never seen such perfect logistics! All throughout, I received emails, phone calls, pictures of my emptied storage, wrapped and then loaded items. Price wise, I'd say if you're coming from a 1 bedroom and it's a walk-up building, safe to say that you will shell out money but that you will get what you pay for. So I eventually decided to go with A Piece of Cake Moving. Michael and Peter made the pre-move process easy and was so patient with every logistical question that I had. Thanks guys! I also requested for their best possible crew and Michael told me that everyone's great but that they will send their best crew for the day. Yesterday was the day of the move and was told they will arrive between 8-10AM. By 8:15AM they were already in the building. Awesome punctuality and it really set the tone for their professionalism. Was fortunate that Truck 17 was assigned to work with us on our move. Marco, Philip and Vidak were incredible and were also really good guys. Within the first hour, my husband and I were in complete awe of how much they already achieved. Like clockwork! So strong and efficient! We gave each other a knowing look signifying yep 'this was worth paying for'. We would have struggled disassembling, reassembling, and would have taken forever! One enlightening moment for me was when I saw them pack a special wrapping tape around our Queen bed. And how meticulously they did it. I seriously wouldn't even have thought the need for it but that's just how they operate. I also liked that there's no set time limit, hence there was no compromise on quality of work. I also appreciate that when I mistakenly put our pack of masks in a box they already closed, they gave us both a new mask each. Really appreciated the gesture! Almost 5 hours after, with a 30 min meal break in between (deservingly so!), we resumed at our new address and they immediately got everything moved and settled in. This is the first time I've used a moving service having previously moved myself, and I can say this is the best money I've ever spent. They were recommended to me by a coworker who used them to move to Florida from NYC - she did tons of research and Piece of Cake had the best reviews AND was by far the cheapest of any of the services. So we booked confidently and got her a 10% referral bonus toward her move. Our experience started with our account manager, Vlad, who was exceptional with speedy communication by email. He made it very clear what steps we needed to take by when so that we could reserve our moving date. It's an easy $50 deposit and then you pay the balance by the day before the move. You don't have to have all the exact details (e.g., number of boxes, destination address, etc.) when you book the move - they are quite flexible to update your quote as you provide them with more information. Very transparent too in terms of what all goes into the price (# boxes, furniture, mileage, flights of stairs, etc.). Our movers, Philip and Denis, moved quickly and efficiently while also taking extra care to ensure all of our furniture was protected with blankets, shrink wrap and plenty of tape. The company also gave us 2 free wardrobe boxes for suits, dresses, coats, etc. so they could stay on the hangers. We moved from a 700 sqft apartment on the 7th floor of our elevator-building in NYC with 55 bankers boxes, bed, couch, 2 dressers, dining room table, chairs, book shelves, etc. and they moved out in ~5 hours. They texted us an hour before they arrived the next day at our new 2nd floor apartment in Richmond, VA and unloaded everything in ~ 2 hours with just as much care as they packed it. This is the first time I've used a moving service having previously moved myself, and I can say this is the best money I've ever spent. They were recommended to me by a coworker who used them to move to Florida from NYC - she did tons of research and Piece of Cake had the best reviews AND was by far the cheapest of any of the services. So we booked confidently and got her a 10% referral bonus toward her move. Our experience started with our account manager, Vlad, who was exceptional with speedy communication by email. He made it very clear what steps we needed to take by when so that we could reserve our moving date. It's an easy $50 deposit and then you pay the balance by the day before the move. You don't have to have all the exact details (e.g., number of boxes, destination address, etc.) when you book the move - they are quite flexible to update your quote as you provide them with more information. Very transparent too in terms of what all goes into the price (# boxes, furniture, mileage, flights of stairs, etc.). Our movers, Philip and Denis, moved quickly and efficiently while also taking extra care to ensure all of our furniture was protected with blankets, shrink wrap and plenty of tape. The company also gave us 2 free wardrobe boxes for suits, dresses, coats, etc. so they could stay on the hangers. We moved from a 700 sqft apartment on the 7th floor of our elevator-building in NYC with 55 bankers boxes, bed, couch, 2 dressers, dining room table, chairs, book shelves, etc. and they moved out in ~5 hours. They texted us an hour before they arrived the next day at our new 2nd floor apartment in Richmond, VA and unloaded everything in ~ 2 hours with just as much care as they packed it.
