Jackson Movers extensively damaged several expensive pieces of furniture and my new refrigerator. They also lost the box springs to my queen bed. To date, they have only offered me only $124 as compensation. BEWARE - there are so many issues with this Company, it is hard to list them all. Here are some of the major problems that I experienced: (i) long delivery delays, (ii) subcontracting of delivery to an independent trucker who hired unqualified people off Craig's List to unload and move my furniture into my house - they caused extensive damage to walls and floors, (iii) Jackson Mover's Bill of Lading limits its liability to $0.60 per lb for each piece of furniture - I was not even offered that much, (iv) in order to submit a claim for damages, you have to produce all types of documents (including receipts for each piece of damaged furniture - even if you purchased the piece years ago) and pictures of the damages taken at time of delivery, (v) you cannot have the damaged furniture repaired until after your claim is settled, which can takes months, (vi) you cannot withhold money for damages at time of delivery, as you have to pay CASH or Post Office BONDS at time of delivery BEFORE they will take your stuff off the truck - no inspection for damages is allowed before such payment, and (v) the contract is very one-sided - very unfair to the consumer - read it carefully before you hire them!! Unfortunately, getting the furniture to actually be delivered to NC was a huge problem as Jackson Movers subcontracts this work out - in my case, to an independent trucker. That truck driver hired unskilled labor with no moving experience off Craig's list to move my furniture into my brand new house. They did extensive damage to my walls and floors - for which they have no liability under their contract. There was extensive damage to furniture as well, either during the move or while in storage. I have attached pictures showing some of the pieces that were damaged, there are a lot more. In addition, they lost the box spring to my queen bed (which they have claim to have no obligation to replace under their contract). I made the mistake of not buying insurance from a separate insurer for this move - Jackson Movers is offering only $124 to settle my claim for all the damages they caused. I did not accept this offer. The whole experience was a nightmare. I would have been better off using UHaul!! On last thing to be aware of, WATCH OUT out for Jackson Mover's contract -it is terrible!! It limits their liability for damage to any piece of furniture (no matter how valuable) to $0.60 per LB!! They are the worst moving company we have ever employed. Close to $10,000 worth of furniture was damaged, and a claims process almost makes it impossible to receive compensation. Jackson Movers was subcontracted by National Moving Services/AmeriSafe Moving. After reading horrifying reviews about Jackson Movers, I reached out to AmeriSafe to ask they not use this subcontractor. They insisted that for my timeline we needed to use Jackson, and that they've had nothing but positive experiences. My move was on Friday, and 85% of my property was damaged. Boxes are smashed in, ripped up the side, and busted in. Both my queen bedframe and full bedframe were damaged. The jewellery armoire's lock was busted open with the legs are missing, and I don't know what jewellery is missing just yet. Our of five bookshelves, only one was undamaged. TV stand and my work desk were completed destroyed. Boxes marked FRAGILE GLASS were found smashed at the bottom of box piles from when the movers unloaded everything into my living room. Plastic tubs are completely bent out/sides warped out from being at the bottom of too heavy stacks. I'm missing a violin. The driver said when he arrived to pick up the load, he started taking pictures as this was one of the worst moves he'd seen. The movers said they didn't load the truck and couldn't be responsible, even though they were stacking boxes incorrectly and they themselves broke the guest bed. Any time I mentioned that the boxes were being mishandled, I was simply told "we didn't load the truck, we just unload it." The movers that loaded the truck did a great job and nothing was damaged. But between unloading the truck into their storage facilities, reloading a new truck, and unloading at the destination, there was major mishandling and breaking of my property. They do indeed tape directly onto furniture, which peels off paint. The stickers they use to identify cargo does not come off and will have to be scraped off most of my belongings. I have one shot at filing an insurance claim and cannot amend if I find more damage/missing items, and 9 months to go through all my property to assess what is damaged and missing. Shawn Williams at Relocation Nation Moving stated that the wait time to receive my furniture would only be 1-3 business days and he also stated my contract came with insurance but it did not. My furniture and inventory was held for 2 weeks until I received it on March 24, 2023 in Camp Springs, MD. In addition, I had to buy clothes to wear valued up to $100.00 because of the 2-week delay in transporting my inventory and my own clothes were packed away so I could not access them. When the furniture was finally delivered there was EXTENSIVE damage!!! It looked like my furniture was thrown around. There was deep scratches and deep marks/indentations on all the wood pieces as well as the wood on the corners of the furniture was broken off on many of the pieces. Also, some of my ceramic items and glassware were completely broken. My furniture is Thomasville, so it was very expensive and costly to get these pieces repaired. JM and RNM refused to pay for the damages and I had to pay about $2000+ for the damage to my furniture. I would recommend to the public NEVER to use them because they are a rip-off and irresponsible. The purpose of this review is to inform the public of my HORRIBLE moving experience with Relocation Nation Moving (GulfStream Van Lines) and Jackson Movers because it was an Absolute Nightmare! On Friday, March 3, 2023, I selected Relocation Nation Moving (RNM) a broker in Florida to transport my inventory and furniture from North Carolina to Maryland. The RNM customer representative I worked with was Shawn Williams. RNM then hired Jackson Movers (JM) to transport my furniture. On March 9, 2023, JM picked up my furniture from my home in Huntersville, North Carolina. There was an issue when they arrived because Jessica Smith from RNM did not send the updated inventory list to JM, and therefore I was charged an additional $1000.00 for the move. My furniture and inventory was held for 2 weeks until I received it on March 24, 2023 in Camp Springs, MD. We used Jackson movers for a Long distance move .. we gave the agent our inventory .. which was very accurate and even less furniture than what I had quoted .. the loaders came and we’re charging us for over 500 cubic feet more than what was quoted and almost twice the price .. everything was wrapped good except .. We used Jackson Movers to move from Texas to Florida and hired then for a full pack and move, and I regret ever using them. I recognized issues immediately, but we closed on our house and had to be out within a few days so we couldn't cancel or replace them at this time. It has been 6 months now, and it still makes me cringe. 1) We let them know part of the items would be delivered to new home and other items would be delivered to a storage facility. We were told this was not a problem and they did this all of the time. In order to assist with identifying which items would go to which location, I had large colored stickers for the boxes and had items organized - as an example, in kitchen items on counter went to storage and everything in cabinets went to home. I continuously repeated myself, but they didn't pay any attention and threw items in whichever box was closest. 2) We had an initial payment ready, in the form of a money order, per the instructions provided. The foreman told us they did not accept money orders and they could not start packing until we provided payment in an acceptable form. We asked the foreman call and double check because we followed the instructions provided. He sat on phone for over 3 hours while the other team members sat and waited. Three hours later he was able to get in touch with the correct person and confirmed money order was an acceptable payment. 3) One of the team members seemed to do a decent job wrapping and packing, but the other ones didn't care and literally just threw things in the boxes. An outdoor iron piece of decor was thrown in a box on top of clothes, broom and mops put in a box with throw pillows, cast iron skillet was put on the top of a box that included bowls and champagne glasses. 4) When they were done packing, I walked through the house to find they missed an entire bathroom, to which they responded "we didn't even know that room existed", even though we did a walk through of each room and closet upon their arrival. And I found items on the top shelves of the kitchen cabinets and int the back of storage cabinets. 5) We were given an estimate for delivery, but actual delivery was 3 weeks later. During that time when we kept calling, they couldn't give us an update or ETA. 6) The delivery team was a different team than who packed us. When they arrived and started unpacking the truck, they told us it was the worst packing job they had ever seen (not that it mattered since they weren't going to help us with the claim). 7) After unpacking contents for house, they went to deliver the remaining contents to storage facility and we were told we had to pay an uncharge for a 'long haul' since they couldn't drive truck into storage facility. There is a bag of exercise bands underneath this bag is more weights in a crate and two yoga mats along with formats. Here is our pantry of goods that was supposed to be taken. Our sons room that was left a mess along with the belongings and lamp that was supposed to be taken as well. The only thing in this photo that was not supposed to be taken. Was the diaper genie located in the right corner. Hat rack that was supposed to be taken. Kitchen baskets supposed to be taken. Extra storage bin supposed to be taken. Delivery driver shows up 1.5 hours outside delivery window and his crew are not professional licensed and bonded persons as promised but his wife, his kids and his brother. They bashed my furniture against railings, walls, and windows. Initially lost my coffee table which was then delivered broken and demanded 1k extra because the 'truck wouldn't fit' even though a similar 53 ft truck had been on that same street the week before and the driver made that determination sight-unseen. I cannot begin to describe how horrific this experience was and how unprofessional and unethical these people are. I have already filed a complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for their fraudulent inducement and business practices. Save yourself the time and money and hire someone else because you won't be saving any money or time no matter what they say. Scam! Absolutely the worst most unprofessional organization. I hired these people on the promise of a 3-5 day delivery for a final cost of $6,107. Delivery was $1,200 more and 23 days after pickup. Delivered broken and damaged dresser, dining table, marble table, and coffee table. Day of pick up the driver shows up 4.5 hours after the pick-up window, increases the price, doesn't let me read or shows me the papers I am signing, he only pushes an Ipad in my face with the signature box taking up the whole page and no way to go back and read. Changed the delivery date from 3-5 days to 7-14 which is not what was promised. Contacted them a week later and delivery date changed to 5-14 business days, then it changed to 7-21 business days. Absolutely terrible. They should reimburse me for the hotel and food costs from not having my property as promised. Delivery driver shows up 1.5 hours outside delivery window and his crew are not professional licensed and bonded persons as promised but his wife, his kids and his brother. They bashed my furniture against railings, walls, and windows. Initially lost my coffee table which was then delivered broken and demanded 1k extra because the 'truck wouldn't fit' even though a similar 53 ft truck had been on that same street the week before and the driver made that determination sight-unseen. I cannot begin to describe how horrific this experience was and how unprofessional and unethical these people are. I have already filed a complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for their fraudulent inducement and business practices. Save yourself the time and money and hire someone else because you won't be saving any money or time no matter what they say. You are better off hiring someone from craigslist because that's about what you get. *** Update 1/24 I just discovered they stole a box of approximately $800 in antique glass bottles and vases! Jackson movers destroyed over $5,000 worth of furniture during a move. I went through the claims process as directed, and they offered me less than the legal amount for the damage they caused. Further, they lied about the charges per hour, overchaged me for labor and surprise charged me with material charges to the tune of over $1,500. My quote was $5,500 and the bill was over $8,300. In addition to that, they did NOT have to move two beds and two chairs that I ended up moving myself. They charged me a buiky item fee of $400 and then proceeded to BREAK the item they charged me the money for - a brand new tool chest. Further, now, when I call them, after being offered $111 for the thousands of damage they've done, I get hung up on by rude people who interrupt you while you're trying to tell them why you're calling. I'm getting a lawyer. I've waited 4 and a half months to resolve this doing it "their way" and have received nothing. Furthermore, they broke a finial off a mirror and are so dishonest that they tried to roll a ball of duct tape up and stick it back, which obviously didn't work. Today, after jumping through numerous hoops over the last 4.5 months, the only thing this company would do is hang up on me repeatedly.
