Comically bad service. I chose them based on the smooth sales pitch. That was a mistake. 1. The movers were 1 1/2 hours late. The foreman arrived around 10:15am (vs. 9am promised), looked around, and only came back to start moving with a team of 4 (vs. 5 promised by sales) at 10:40am. 2. There was a lengthy period from about noon - 4pm when very little got moved from one apartment to the other (move was to across the street). By 3pm my husband decided to move stuff himself. We also noted at the end of the move that his edible weed candies were missing. Could be related or separate incidents. 3. They bashed up my refrigerator, and the dresser wasn't padded in the move and got some scrapes (pictures attached). 4. They were hired to put stuff away, but it was mostly dumped in piles. 5. They didn't finish moving everything from my prior apartment. I called for them to complete the service the next day. The sales guy (after mixing me up with another irate customer) then asked me to pay more to complete the service. I said no and had to hire two people to move the dishwasher and finish putting everything away (for a much more reasonable price). Some of the things left behind included part of the refrigerator, curtains, bathroom stuff. They offered a partial refund for the incomplete service, but only offered $126 for the damaged refrigerator (very hard to close the doors now, over $1000 in damage if I replaced the broken parts), and nothing for the stolen property. Update: I just did part 2 of my move from Manhattan to the Hudson Valley. Sergei + team were great: they came early, hustled the whole time, and moved tons of heavy stuff up two flights of slippery stairs and through the heavy snow. Sergei helped me move furniture around in the new location, unwrapped and reassembled furniture pieces. The guys were friendly and professional. Thanks Imperial! .. From Dec. 5th: Oshane (Roy) + Team were my heroes today! I was ghosted by another moving company and sitting on my floor surrounded by boxes in tears. A friend recommended Imperial - I called and was able to book an emergency move 2 hours later with a very complete phone intake. Oshane was incredible- so though, professional. It was really outstanding service - I feel I dodged a bullet by not working with that other company. I felt so taken care of and relieved. Though not inexpensive it was worth every penny for piece of mind. I will for sure call these guys again and cannot recommend them highly enough! Read More

Imperial Movers committed to delivering my items on Thursday, October 21st. I received an email from Ruma Ferduous at 8:48 AM that said, "I was told they are getting ready to deliver so should be happening in the next hour." She wanted me to sign off on the final payment, however, I refused. Who signs off on items they haven't yet received? I told her I would sign once the items arrived at my address. She then told me the driver refuses to deliver my items without final payment. When the movers finally showed up well after 6:30 pm, I asked them if they refused to show up earlier because of payment and they said no. Additionally, they showed me a series of calls and text messages to get the move done. Ruma lied! Prior to the move, I sent Ruma a photo of my bed and I confirmed with her via an email dated October 20th at 4 pm that they will bring tools to reassemble the bed. They showed up with no tools which meant they had to leave the job to buy tools further delaying completion. They were gone for about thirty minutes. At midnight, they left with the bed not fully put together and said they would return the next day. The entire top of the bed was not installed (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO). A move that should've been completed in one day now took a total of three days . On Friday October 22nd, they arrived late afternoon to install the top portion of the bed. I called them to come out on Saturday because the bed was coming apart (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO). Beyond that, my bed is now damaged in two places (SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS). Since Thursday, I've called Ruma repeatedly. She has not answered one of my calls or replied to my numerous emails. When I initially booked the move, she told me her office has nothing to do with the NY office yet she sent me an email informing me to contact the NY office with any issues. If I knew they were connected in any way to the NY office, I would've found another company because I had a bad experience with the NY office last year. We used Imperial Moving & Storage for a local move in downtown Manhattan in late Sep 2021. Our contact was Mario. We had a two bedroom apartment that needed to be packed and moved. Many of the large furniture items didn't need to be packed or moved, so keep in mind this was just for boxing our personal affairs mostly. They were scheduled to come the day before to pack but arrived three hours late so they only had a couple of hours to pack into the early evening. The day of the move they also arrived late which became an issue--in NYC, buildings only allow moves to occur during certain times, and we only had until 5pm to use the elevator. This created a situation where they were still packing until 3:00 and rushing. They packed up the TV last...only wrapping it in a moving blanket. On the other end, they made us pay for the move before finishing unloading. The foreman kept saying, 'this is it, we are almost done'. Meanwhile some items like the TV were not brought up. He waited till the very last to bring up the TV because they knew they had dropped it (huge dent on the corner and TV falling apart). The crew did a nice job acting surprised when they finally unwrapped the TV. In addition, they also banged up our walls including two dents and rips in brand new wallpaper in our new place. Now, of course, it's incredibly difficult to get responses from the moving company. We have called and/or emailed 6 times and have managed finally to get Kevin on the phone. Three weeks later and we are still being given the run around. Accidents happen, it's what we do to rectify those accidents that reflect true character. I've never written a negative review on a company because I always assume maybe I just got them on an off day, but our experience was so bad that I thought I should at least let others know some of the "fine print" so that you can do some additional research before booking. We have moved across the country a few times and I'd recommend CA-NY Express movers if possible -- we had a good experience with them but they were unavailable for our move from NY to LA. * Day of the Move: The movers showed up 8 hours late (at 5pm) and were in our building until midnight moving our stuff out. This violated our building policy because you cannot move out after 4pm. We never thought this would be an issue since we had confirmation that they'd be there at 9am. To top it off, the driver blamed us and said that our printed confirmation of arrival time was wrong... ok. * Waiting for our Stuff: The contract specifies that they can take between 4-14 business days to arrive. It took 24 days (16 business days) for our stuff to actually arrive. They do offer to compensate you $15/day (not much in my opinion) for each business day they are late. We asked for our $30 refund over two weeks ago and are still waiting. * Day of the Delivery: Again, they were late by 5 hours on a time they committed only 24 hours before. The movers showed up in an 18-wheeler, which we were never told what type of truck they'd be in. Obviously, an 18-wheeler will block traffic on most streets (?) and we were told that in order to get our stuff we'd have to give $1,000 cash that day so they could secure a smaller truck. Some of our stuff was dinted and not put together correctly, such as my son's crib. Honestly, I didn't even notify them of the broken furniture because the experience with their customer service was so bad that I just want to be done with them and not have to go back and forth over email like before; my sanity is worth more than my dresser (shown below). The in-between customer service is also seriously lacking -- I wouldn't say that anyone at the company is overly-friendly except the Sales department. When you email them questions, they respond with highlighted parts of your contract and not direct answers. At one point, while waiting for our stuff to arrive, I actually was laugh-crying because of how awful the customer service was when asking a simple, "Is there an updated ETA? We are beyond the ETA previously provided." I am sure this company delivers furniture with a better experience for others -- based on their reviews -- but if you are considering them for long-distance I'd ask a lot of questions upfront and consider other options. I usually don't write reviews, but the guys from Imperial Moving really blew my mind. They came recommended from a friend who moved with them a couple times in the past and it Imperial definitely didn't disappoint. Everything started with a phone call. Initial conversation with the representative was clear, informative, helpful and even friendly - which is second reason why I reserved the move with them. I felt like I could trust them and they were very responsive over the emails. The guy I spoke with even asked for the photos of the apartment and the furniture that I am moving so that there aren't any surprises on a date of the move. When the actual day happened, they arrived around 30 minutes early and even suggested to wait for me if I am not ready to start with the move before scheduled time. Pavel and the team wrapped everything perfectly and even though I used to live on the 4th floor they carried my items to the truck with such ease, fast, carefully and without any issues. Also, their truck is very clean and it gave me peace of mind. My biggest concern was wrapping of the TV, my grandmother's mirror and my new mattress but they did it so well so nothing ended up being damaged. Once we arrived to my new apartment, they were patient while looking for the parking. They arranged my furniture they I wanted them to and helped me with unpacking. I hope this review can save at least one person from an utter nightmare that I have been going through. I have very similar experiences as the other 1 star reviewers, so I am left to believe that Imperial simply buys better reviews. I moved with Imperial December 2020 and everything that could have gone wrong, did. I was assured multiple times that the estimate is for the maximum you would pay and if we have less stuff, it will be less. When movers arrived, the immediately said it is too much stuff. This is kind of impossible as I lived in a walk up in Soho and the only furniture I had were: 1 queen bed + mattress, 2 dining chairs, and 2 side tables as I sold everything else. There were 3 movers and a driver who stayed in the car the entire time - ??? not sure why I had to pay for his time. Out of the 3, only 2 were actually moving while the third guy was "overseeing". It took them much longer than expected to pack and leave the apartment so when they arrived in my destination they said they only have 30 min to unload. I started unloading and helping as well as they were visibly stressed and rude. They took an hour to assemble my bed frame which they did incorrectly. They lost multiple screws and so left the bed half assembled which I only noticed two weeks later when the bed collapsed. Also the metal frame was wobbly and dented the completely new hardwood floors. When they were finally leaving they tried to argue with me for another 30 minutes about the charges, literally telling me that I did not have wardrobe boxes on my moving estimate when in fact I did. I showed them my estimate and they replied "yeah but that's your estimate, we are going by what we have on ours." Unbelievable - the estates should be the same! They basically said that they have to quote me for stuff that was already paid for, which I refused. The "leader" then argued with me that we had too much stuff and that's why they need to quote me for another hour of moving. I was moving 3 miles from a 400 sq feet apartment without almost ANY furniture and it took them 5.5 hours?! Finally since I refused to pay until speaking to the office, they reduced these overcharges down to the original estimate which I paid. Now I am still trying to get my claims through their Support center for the collapsed bed and completely damaged hardwood floors. Others seem to have a horrible experience with this process as well, leading nowhere, so I am pretty hopeless that this nightmare would end positively. But I will update this review if by some miracle it will. Right now, I am so regretful I did not go with any of the other moving companies and that I was persuaded by their fake positive reviews. I started unloading and helping as well as they were visibly stressed and rude. They took an hour to assemble my bed frame which they did incorrectly. They lost multiple screws and so left the bed half assembled which I only noticed two weeks later when the bed collapsed. Also the metal frame was wobbly and dented the completely new hardwood floors. I couldn't believe his nerve, but he also didn't speak English well, was visibly angry, and would not accept less - so I regretfully acquiesced out of sheer discomfort and inability to communicate with him. When I e-mailed them to file a claim, I was referred to their support team, who spit in my face by offering me a pittance of compensation for only one of the things they broke. When I pushed back, they told me any claim over $100 would have to be handled by a separate claims agency (who in the world has a moving claim smaller than $100?) - and this was after extensive back-and-forth of them wasting my time. But they gave me the contact info, and told me what to send over to the agency. Upon finally connecting with the claims agency, I learned that (1) Imperial did not actually tell me all the things I needed to send, and I require paperwork I don't have - just to add another fun step - and (2) it will take up to 90 BUSINESS DAYS for them to process my claim. Even then, to put it kindly, I have every reason to believe they will be just as frugal as Imperial. DON'T BE FOOLED BY FAKE NEWS, NEITHER BY FAKE REVIEWS! Imperial Moving & Storage granted me the worst experience ever about moving. Unprofessional, unreliable, unethical, dishonest... you name it. The company did a free estimate of, according to Mario, its sales representative, $1,700. According to Mario this would be the maximum that I would pay to move a 2 bedrooms apartment, if the move was done in 7 hours. My moving was within Brooklyn, only 1 mile from my previous to actual home. It's already a lot, but I was fooled by these fake reviews you can see here on Yelp and advertised by Imperial Moving & Storage as well. By the way, my moving last for 4 and half hours. They arrived on time. After half hour, the guy who seemed to be the leader, came to me and said that my moving would cost a little more because, according to him, I had more stuff than it was written in the estimate. I already felt that something was fishy, but as they were already there and I had to move out, we proceeded with the moving. In the middle of the moving, when the workers were loading the truck, a heavy rain begun. AND THEY LEFT MY STUFF IN THE RAIN FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR! Shortly after, the same "leader" came to me and said: "Enough. Your time is up." Believe or not, he closed the truck and left a bunch of things outside my home, at the front of the brownstone. They also threw a bunch of blankets on the street as well as left blankets hanging on the brownstone's fence. When we got to the destination (a mile away, as aforementioned), the "leader" came to me and said: "it's time to pay now, otherwise we can't unload your stuff." Then he presented a $2,170.00 total. I paid and he said: "Call to the office on Monday and talk to them, they will reimburse the excess charged." Then I spoke to him: What about the mess you guys left at my previous residence? You guys left dozens of partially used rolls of packing tape, plastic, rest of tape, pieces of cardboard. His answer: "If you want to, after we finish we can stop by to pick up." I thought: Am I the one who should teach you guys how to be professionals? Then they just pilled my stuff in the living room of my home. They barely took time to assemble the bed, which was so poorly assembled that I had to redo the assembling. On Monday, I called Imperial Moving & Storage and tried to speak with Mario. This guy avoided me for 3 days, then finally I spoke to him and his words were: "I am sorry for your bad experience, but there's nothing I can do. You should contact [email protected]. I sent the email, but never got a reply back. Now I am realizing that I can't find some stuff; for example, the legs of my working desk can't be found. In addition, my $4,300.00 Tempur-Pedic mattress has a big blood stain on it. With all of that said, I would like to let you know about my terrible experience using Imperial Moving & Storage. Then almost two weeks after our delivery, Avi had his operations manager ask me if he refunded my moving costs, would I remove my Yelp and Google reviews. This was after demanding a cash ransom in the middle of the night, breaking $6500 worth of our items, causing us over $8000 of unplanned hotel and childcare costs! UPDATE Oct 2018: After a great deal of effort, I managed to get their insurance company information to submit a claim. The damage was so incredible it was almost puzzling. Our marble table was shattered in numerous places. Our bedroom furniture had a gaping hole that looks like someone sledgehammered the top. Our marble table missed 3 legs that were lost in the move, our shelving was missing shelves, our marble shelves were damaged, our couch had red streaks across the entirety. I could go on and on. Every item had some sort of damage. The delivery crew you could tell was in shock as they unwrapped each item. They even took pictures as we did. All was marked as damaged on bill of goods. Update: They broke our beautiful marble table... They were SO LATE that we had to spend our extra money to spend a night at a hotel. So, yesterday was our moving day. They said they will be at our house between 1-3pm. And we called them in the morning to check if everything was on the schedule and they said they were on track. At 3pm, no one is here. When we called, they said they will be here after 4....seriously? We are moving into a condo that has a very strict regulations about moving and moving had to be finished by 5pm. AVOID AT ALL COST. We did a 1 bedroom move from Upper West Side to Brooklyn Heights and had 2 items severely damaged and 1 item STOLEN from these movers. They were very deceitful and tried to hide the damaged items (glass top for desk and edge of wooden PotteryBarn Desk). They took 3x the time to get from UWS to Brooklyn so we were charged overage for the move. RIDICULOUSLY TERRIBLE customer service. We were given compensation of only $40.50 for our damaged and lost items. The glass top alone cost $200, desk over $1,000 and stolen item (brand new Arcertyx jacket) was worth $1,500. It is an insult to be compensated only $40.50, and especially an insult when you give a nice tip to all three movers then shortly thereafter realize your stuff is stolen and damaged. I then called around and got higher prices/no availability I called back and was told the quote she provided was void as it was wrong. I then was told the day she provided (Thursday) was not available but Saturday (which was ok) was available. However I was told the price would be going up from $1650.00 to $2000.00! I then tried to negotiate and was put on hold then this other woman returned and said she went over with her supervisor and it would now be $2300! Updating my review: I really wish I could give this company more stars because I thought the movers themselves were quite good. However, as I said in my previous review, about 10 weeks passed after I was supposed to receive a refund for an over billing issue, but no checks came in the mail, and nobody responded to my email inquiries. Two days ago, I suddenly received an email letting me know that my check was mailed out late November. Normally, this would've been great news except that it was followed by another email asking me to remove my Yelp review otherwise they will be 'forced to file the suit' (see photo I've attached). I removed my first review as it was one of their conditions in order to refund my charge (which I never received), and since then I have been nothing but patient and respectful. I never expected to receive an email trying to bully me into removing the review by threatening a lawsuit. I can't say enough good things about this moving company. I used them when I moved from Brooklyn to New Jersey a few months back. Movers called both a week and a day before the move to confirm everything. On the day of the move, they actually showed up 20 minutes before the promised window which I was really impressed about. The guys were quick and efficient taking my stuff apart and taking it down to the truck.
