Set the scene: moved CA to AZ Contract gave 8 hrs of labor. They pack everything and move it into storage unit. Mover said he'd just give me wardrobe boxes for expensive coats as the boxes were previously used anyway. Gave each mover $50 tip during packing and another $50 for unloading. Packing went great as far as I could tell (they were in multiple rooms so didn't see it all). However, they had the person receiving it at storage keep the door open, she didn't see what was going on in storage. They literally tossed it all in there and even put a raw wood coffee table against the steel wall (see photo). Communication is greatly reduced when you have a complaint. Was told I'd get a form via email but never did. Then again, at 60 cents per pound regardless of actual value, it's not worth it. To make it worse, the actually emptied those wardrobe boxes and took them back, leaving coats and hangers loose (seen in photo). Finally, repacked my storage and easily created more room without tossing mattresses and desk on top (seen in photo). Summary: as far as moving companies go, I'd say it was average. I've been moved by the military many times and this was par for the course. It's not a 1-star, nor a 5-star. Merely average. The worst is that I wouldn't have given them the second half tip for the absolutely terrible job of storing it all. Excellent service. Harris and his team of movers were informative, on time, and prompt. The 3 movers were extremely helpful, flexible, and hard workers. They were cautious with my belongings and ensured nothing was broken in the end, including my upright piano which was my heaviest and most delicate item. I felt taken care of and Grizzly Moving services made the move a lot smoother. Plenty of heads-up with detailed info before the move-in date made the communication and move-in day flow as smoothly as possible. Once they took a look at everything they said that it would be doable to do the move by 4:45pm and once again assured me that if they couldn't finish on time that they would deliver the rest of the furniture in the morning. Unfortunately the move took longer than expected. The movers didn't get to the storage unit until 4pm. Once they got there they took everything out of the truck and put by the elevator. They then proceeded to rush everything to the 6th floor. They were in such a rush that everything was put every which way inside the storage unit and dragged onto the floor. This caused damage to my sofa, a dresser, a lamp and they cracked a bed frame that wasn't wrapped or protected by anything and was dragged on the floor. Because the movers rushed everything inside the storage unit, the sofa was left standing vertically which would cause structure damage in the long run when stored like that. I had to hire someone to get everything out and organized in a way that would leave space for the couch to sit horizontally. On top of this, they are refusing to pay me the .60 cents per pound in damages that is required by California law. Update: I have now been sent emails from their "customer service" calling me "hostile" and wanting to make "an enemy" of them because I wanted them to take responsibility for their damages. They've taken no responsibility and instead are blaming me for their lack of communication. Review updated with proof of their responses. Their movers caused this damage to our home and yard. I specifically told them not to use the gravel driveway because it would not support the weight of the truck and it was too small to turn around in. They used it anyway, causing extensive damage to the driveway. As you can see, there are deep grooves that will require to be dug out with a tractor and refilled with dirt and then the gravel. Due to these divots, water collected further exacerbated the issue. We cannot use the driveway at all right now. They also forced our shed door to shut in a way that made it it sit askew. To open it, we had to break the door off the hinges. Due to it being askew, it was not closed properly and had a gap at the top causing leaking inside and water/moisture damages to gym equipment that cost thousands of dollars. Things were thrown together haphazardly, are rusted and will cost a lot of money to repair. I've moved many times in my life, and Grizzly Movers was by far the best moving company I've ever worked with. They are extremely professional, reliable, and very transparent. They worked quickly and efficiently, making the final cost less than I expected (and when does THAT ever happen?) The crew--Ritchie, Eddie and Jose--were friendly and polite, and even helped me with a couple of things that technically weren't a part of my move. Of the numerous moving companies on Yelp I've tried, Grizzly moving is definitely the most friendly and hardworking people. When they state no hidden cost, they meant it! Honestly, I've done plenty of moves with different companies on Yelp. So I know when someone quotes you low to get your business and start charging you everything from gas/boxes/plastic wraps. All of a sudden your $100/hr quote becomes a $1,000 invoice. They provided a large truck and even uhaul boxes that helps with moving clothes, I know that those things are usually pretty expensive to buy but it make moving clothes on hangers so much easier to transport without stuffing it into a random box during a move. A close friend whom we helped with the move chose them for a move to California from the east coast, and not only were there no surprises, but everything - from the first telephone inquiry to the final piece of furniture being delivered, went well. Contrast that to any of the van lines and even some of the smaller movers. And unlike the other movers, they moved everything from Atlanta to San Diego in three days. That includes the loading and the unloading. The van lines needed 21 business days to move the same inventory. 21 business days is a month or more. But Grizzly was there when they said they would be, handled the loading like the professionals they are, drove cross-country, and unloaded everything - all in the allotted three days. I was concerned about our friends using the van lines and some other movers, since they subcontract the move to unknown players. And using a company that would be holding all of your worldly goods for 21 business days instead of the three days it takes to cross the country didn't seem to be the best choice. Moving is so stressful without your movers compounding that stress. I feel fortunate to have found Grizzly and to have selected them. I cannot commend this company and its management team enough. If you are looking for an honest, reliable company that truly puts their customers first, work with Grizzly Moving. I originally contracted this company for a local move. Unfortunately, they'd encountered a labor shortage and had to outsource the move to another company called Move Square. My only negative comments with Grizzly Moving is that: 1. They did not communicate this with me and I only found out when Move Square showed up at my door. 2. I wish they'd researched Move Square before outsourcing to them Move Square had done a terrible job (just stay away from that company if you happen to come across it). They managed to rip my couch and damage the elevator in one fell swoop (picture a battering ram) and damaged a lot of expensive electronics. Even worse was that Move Square's owner was completely unprofessional and refused to provide any reimbursement. He constantly talked over us and hung up whenever we tried to call and put in a claim (... Which is probably illegal?) My saving grace was Grizzly Moving and its management team (specifically Arthur and Damian), who acted as a liason to Move Square. Move Square seemed to behave a little better when talking with Grizzly Moving (seeing as they got jobs out of them). Both during and after the move, Arthur constantly made himself available to hear out my concerns and took time outside of his work day to try and persuade Move Square to do the right thing and provide reimbursement for the items they'd damaged (maybe even the legal thing?). At the end, when Move Square still refused to take any accountability, Grizzly Moving stepped up and provided me with a partial reimbursement. Even though it was not their wrong to make right. If this is what Grizzly Moving does for their "almost" customer, I cannot imagine the lengths at which they'll go to provide for their actual customers. Awful experience. I would avoid at all cost. I had a move scheduled for May 29th of this year. It started with the driver showing up with the wrong size truck. I knew immediately that was a mistake. I hired Grizzly Moving for a recent move in Carlsbad and was very happy with the service. I requested a quote for my move and received it right away. I looked into a number of other moving services and ultimately went with Grizzly Moving because of their professional and enthusiastic attitude. On the day of the move, the team lead for the move called me about 30 minutes prior to arrival. After reading all of the good reviews on here for Grizzly I decided to hire them for my move yesterday and they certainly did not disappoint. I had to move the contents of a 2 bedroom condo in Oceanside up to a house and storage unit in Pasadena and did not want to go through the hassle of asking friends and family to help move and to rent a moving truck. Worry no more! we have moved many times but never used a mover because we were always afraid of the stories that we had heard. We called Grizzly and used to be pay by the hour option. Based on the great reviews, I called up Grizzly Movers to help my elderly parents move from SD to central California. From my first conversation with team coordinator, Arthur, I felt like my folks would be in good hands. A team of four professional, showed up the day of the move to pack up the apartment, Denis, Andrey, Slava and Nick. They were all incredibly nice and hard working. Within a few hours everything was loaded up on the truck, all carefully wrapped to protect each item from damage. I hate wasting my time writing reviews, but this one deserves a minute! About a month ago, I hired Grizzly Movers to help move my mother from Denver to San Diego. My mother has a lot of irreplaceable and antique items like a dining set that my grandfather built. Although I was very resistant to the idea of spending a fortune on long distance moving of things that aren't probably worth even a half of the move cost, as I love my mom, I still did what makes her happy. Finding a moving company in itself was a stressful and time consuming process. I learned that most companies would take up to a whole month to deliver my mother's possessions. And whether do they think my elderly mother is supposed to stay for a whole month? I live in a studio and I am not about to soend a few thousand dollars on a whole month of motel. The best I could find was about a week delivery for over $3k and I had to hire a local moving company at both locations to load and unload their container (which would cost me additional $1,000 or so on top of the 6 nights of motel cost). Oh, and the $3k is not even a guaranteed price, it is just an estimate and the cost might still get higher if the load turns out to be heavier than what they estimated. And after reading their contract, I saw that they make you sign waivers pretty much for everything. Broken, lost, stolen items - not responsible. Delay in delivery - not responsible. They said they would be making stops all along the way and picking up more shipments. They said they cannot be responsible for anything because there will be a bunch of other companies handling my moms stuff at each stop and therefore their company cannot take blame for any stolen or broken things. To sum it up: "we will take your crap and deliver it whenever the hell we want, we will charge you however much we want, and if something is broken or lost, f*kc off!". And these clowns are still in business somehow! I am so glad I backed out of this last minute and continued looking for a long-distance mover. Then, I came across Grizzly and I saw that they claim that they would "beat anyone's rate for a dedicated truck". When I called, Arthur explained to me that a dedicated truck means that they will not add loads or stop anywhere and they will go straight from Denver to San Diego. On top of it when they send me paperwork, there was no unreasonable waivers, the time of the delivery was narrowed down to a 1-hour window on the morning of the 3rd day after the loading. Arthur sent me a binding quote with a low set price on their company's official paper with their logo and everything. To be safe I had another company quote me a dedicated truck, and they came up over $1000 more expensive! To sum it up: they provided a guranteed price backed up by a dociment and it was lower than hiring the "other guys" + loading/unloading + motel; when their crew finished loading they felt bad that my mom would have to part with her belongings for 3 days, so they ended up driving down to San Diego only in 2 days! They delivered everything without a single scratch, and Arthur called me a few hours after they left to make sure we are happy (this was very touching that he called and I was pleasantly surprised). I don't know about their local moves, but I definitely recommend Grizzly Movers for any long distance out of state moves!
