Overview of issues: * Poor | negligent packing, loading and delivery * Over $25,000 in damage * Horrible service: lack of accountability The damage was so extensive, and the service was so bad, it's hard to know where to begin. I moved from a 3-bedroom apartment in Atlanta to Chicago. Everything from the packing to the loading and the delivery was terrible. The team was slow and unprofessional. I caught one of the guys sitting on my balcony talking on the phone more than once and the team spent more time complaining and yelling at each other than getting the work done. 15 hours after they arrived, they still hadn't finished the loading. I sent an email to let them know about the issues I had (not knowing what was to come) and to tell them they needed to have at least 4 people for the delivery. There were no apologies from them and the broker, International Van Lines, washed their hands of the matter. When the delivery was done, there was extensive damage to everything - furniture, artwork, clothing, lighting, and kitchen and decorative items. Two console tables had large gouges and scratches. One of them was bent in the middle because a heavy crate was placed on top of it. My concrete living room tables had chips all over them and they somehow managed to damage the top of one, which I assume could only be done by dropping something on it. The frames on my bedroom dresses and a wooden bakers rack were bent, and several crystal objects, including a lamp were shipped or completely broken. I had several items that were professionally crated prior to the move and although each one was marked with "TOP" and arrows pointing up to show how they should be kept, every single one of them (6 in total) was placed either sideways or upside down, causing damage to all my chandeliers. I later realized that neither of the movers spoke or read English, which also explains why a lot of my items were not placed where I asked them to be. I had to hire another company to move some of the furniture and rugs after the delivery. What was really infuriating was the negligent way they handled everything. Before the movers arrived, I put all my hanging clothes into garment bags so that it would be very easy to load into the wardrobe boxes and keep them from getting wrinkled. All they had to do was grab the garment bags and hang them on the bar of the boxes. Instead, they chose to roll up all the garment bags and shove as many as they could into a wardrobe box. Every single article of clothing I had was wrinkled, most of which had to be professionally pressed. They also placed some oil paintings in boxes with kitchen items instead of in cartons specifically made for artwork. Two of the pieces were from my deceased parents. The damage from working with Cosmos was upward of $25,000 so if you use them make sure you get a lot of insurance and are ready to spend a lot of time documenting the issues, coordinating repairs, and understand you will spend a lot of money replacing all the damaged goods. ZERO STARS!! My fiancé moved here to Oregon from Georgia. Our initial quote was $4000. They showed up at the house and by the time they were done it was $11,000!!! We had no choice, she had to move and they had already began packing. To make things worse, when everything was delivered, I checked every box and furniture off the inventory. There were missing boxes and damaged items. We filed a claim. There was at least $3000 in damages and missing things. We got $201.00 back. My mother moved from North Carolina to Maryland. We contacted Cardinal Van Lines and spent over an hour on the phone to ask questions pertaining to the move and my mom's furniture. What we learned when the company came out to pack the home is that they contracted the job out to another moving company by the name of Cosmos Van Lines. The guys wrapped the furniture really well. The rep told my mom since there was not an immediate destination, the furniture will be stored for 45 days free of charge. We were okay with that because my mother was house hunting. She found a home and the furniture came on a trailer with three other families furniture. As the movers were unloading we noticed some pieces damaged. When asking the movers what happened, their response was the furniture was loaded and we just hooked up the trailer, you have to take this up with the main office. I contacted the office the next business day and I was told to submit a claim with pictures of the damaged furniture. They responded the claim was received and it would be reviewed. The claim comes back denied. Mind you my mom paid for insurance up to 50k because she wanted to make sure her furniture was protected and they said that coverage was for freight. They came back and said I should not have paid the movers or signed off if there was damage. The movers clearly said they don't have anything to do with it and contact the office. My mother is a senior citizen that paid over 13k for this move to receive some pieces totally destroyed. Once I figure out how to upload more pics I will add. Read More

I want to write this to help others make the right decision for themselves. It took 45 days to receive my things. They estimated $3,800 and at the last minute, I decided to increase the size of storage to make sure I was estimating right. I received a new estimate of $5,400. Which was a lot but worth being over and I was assured that we could adjust if we overestimated the space. I was in another state and had a friend let the company into my storage unit to pick up my things. They made my friend sign a blank document before loading my things. I was assured everything would be signed electronically. Then I got a call that evening demanding money and they said the price was going to be $7,400. It took two weeks to finally have someone answer me and I got hung up on many times. I asked them many times about where my things were so I could pick them up myself. They would not tell me. Finally, I filed a complaint with the bureau about the company and Cosmo finally shipped my things a couple of days later. Not sure if filing the complaint made them finally take action or not. When they arrived they wanted full payment and wouldn't give me my things until I gave it to them. Even though, they owed me money for being late. When they finally moved my things they had random men show up that had ragged clothes and had scars all over their bodies. They sincerely looked like drug dealers.
