Our South Florida moving company was founded in 2003 and maintains its 50,000 square foot offices in Pompano Beach, Florida. In 2023, Colonial has nearly 250 employees nationwide with warehouse / office locations in New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Texas, and California. We are a family-owned and operated moving company that focuses on long-distance / interstate moves for residential, commercial, and corporate relocation throughout the U.S. Colonial prides itself on moving logistics and productivity technologies to keep costs down. We are also committed to safety, which is why we voluntarily get Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections done every 60 days on our moving company fleet. The DOT requirement is 12 months. CVLU is our enhanced on-site training facility, which features an entire staged home including fully equipped kitchen, dining, bedroom, living room, etc., and even lodging for our out-of-town trainees. This allows our staff to experience hands-on training on handling all types of household furniture and items. We’ll pack it, stack it, but never crack it. Colonial Van lines was founded by the Disorbo family, but the story starts in the 1980’s when Mr. Disorbo borrowed $2,000 from his dad and began helping Broward County families move with his truck and limited storage in his garage in Coral Springs, FL. The Colonial Van Lines founder was 21 years old. The moving company innovator opened his first moving company, The Right Move in 1988. After that, the Colonial Van Lines founder is credited with creating the moving company brokerage business by closing the gap between home moving customers and independent movers, whose equipment is often idle and costly. The moving expert and entrepreneur also leveraged his analytical thinking to help start several successful moving companies that are still flourishing today. Three decades later, Mr. Disorbo is still innovating with his newest Florida moving company – Moving Squad.
