Ok, so. #2 son is adulting with his first grown-up job in New York. But he's 22 which means his brain isn't fully developed so moving from L.A. is a little disorganized. Who picks up the slack? This mom does. (This is a review of CA-NY Express, not my parenting skills.) Stepping into his storage facility is stepping into the chaos of his psyche and by the time the movers arrive I'm pretty much losing my mind. The details aren't relevant, these guys were angels sent from heaven. "Hey, we got this. You can relax." Really? Can I? Just let the professionals handle it? They totally did. Mattress bagged and boxed. Bed frame and headboard blanket wrapped and taped. MCM nightstand - same. Surfboard DOUBLE boxed. They even helped the other stressed out lady down the hall. She says thanks for letting me borrow your mover - hey, he's his own man and is just nice that way. A superhero, if fact: watch him lift that desk into the truck all by himself. Done and done - I don't really care what shape it's in on arrival in Manhattan. This is who I'm calling when it's my turn to move there. PS: shout out to Elizabeth from the main office, too. Not only honored a quote from three months earlier but managed calls from both me and the offspring like an international diplomatic negotiator. BEWARE!!!!!! The absolute worst moving experience I have ever had. Please READ!!! The moving of my items was done in the most unprofessional manner - my boxes were neatly packed and loaded in NY and through transit the boxes have been thrown around, poorly treated and extensively damaged. My previous move with this company 4 years ago was VASTLY different the boxes were all delivered in tact none of them damaged. This move is absolutely horrible, the leg to my VERY expensive desk is broken and was properly packed in NY, during transit it was thrown around and handled poorly like ALL my other ITEMS. I am missing a box and the other boxes were thrown around and almost ALL are broken in some way. And the wardrobe boxes are all smashed. In addition, the delivery day and time allocated was not honored - the drivers never showed up and I had to call to see where they were, only to have the delivery moved due to their lack of communication and poor time management. On the delivery date the movers smelled of alcohol and in all honesty, as polite as they were my storage unit should've been packed better. I will never use this company again, I am so upset and disappointed that my property was damaged and I am missing a box of items that were labeled "HOME" because those items were not to be left in storage but to come to my house because they are valuable. The missing box apparently never made it to the LA warehouse or is lost at the warehouse as it was marked as never being loaded on the truck. I even scheduled my move date two days earlier was told I was saving $500 ONLY to be charged the additional $500. I stayed in a hotel in order to accommodate the move date. I tipped your men between both pick and delivery ONLY for my things to be thrown around and treated like trash. I can not believe this - you have lost a customer and I will not recommend this company. BIGGEST INSULT - the claims department offered me $168 for the damage and missing items. I truly believe every company is measured by their customer service and I want to give a huge shot out to the new customer service manager Jonathan! Although there was an issue that needed resolve after I moved he went above and beyond to take it upon himself to find a resolution to fix my issue which in turn made me feel like the company truly cared about my experience. The part that took the cake was that he wanted to FIRST know from my point of view and about how I felt about everything that happened and that's truly what meant so much! We recently used CA to NY express for our move from NY to San Diego, I can't say enough about them! Everyone we met from the company was helpful and professional. Noel came to the house for the estimate and he was great, we felt comfortable with him immediately. He answered every call, email and question we had. The movers came as scheduled and were excellent. They packed our furniture very well and they were quick. Delivery came as promised on the day and time discussed. The CA team was equally as impressive as the NY team. There were no surprise fees, they unpacked all the furniture and assembled everything they had disassembled. I am happy to say that every piece of furniture made it with no damage, even the pieces made of particle board (which everyone says upfront there is a good chance will break). All the boxes were accounted for and out of 80+ boxes maybe 4 had some light damage, but absolutely nothing broke. I have very delicate pieces lots of glass wear, and holiday china and glass as well as porcelain houses; not one piece has any damage. I highly recommend this company for any move. Read More

(*Make that minus 5 stars if possible) Disgusted and disheartened. Priceless loss from these people. CA-NY Express moved us from Silicon Valley to Brooklyn last year. They packed my husband's 40-year professional library and papers into a truck with a hole in its roof. A rain storm completely soaked almost 30 professionally-packed boxes of irreplaceable papers, signed manuscripts, family photographs. All of my own graphic design printed samples from 30 years were destroyed. It's not quite a year and I am still sickened by the loss. My renters insurance from USAA was only able to compensate for basically the weight of the boxes. (How much does your signed doctoral dissertation from 1982 weigh? Or how much does your mom and dad's wedding album from 1946 weigh?) I just got notice that this company will not even pay the few hundred dollars deductible after the insurance company paid what they could. Really? Shame on these people. They were so personable and available before this happened...then they went stone silent and left me on my own. For some reason my review keeps getting filtered out -- I booked the company because of the high yelp rating, and only after the fact realized that the "Unfiltered" ratings were a whole lot lower, and many, many people have had the same experience I had. My move with CNYX has been a total disaster. Unexplained lateness, lack of credibility about price, items damaged beyond repair, and zero responsibility after the fact. The insurance person, Tamir, admitted that the company was at fault but just said it was all my fault for not buying the extra insurance. So, buyer beware!
