Please, be careful. These are actual photos of how this crew packed our belongings into pods. Furniture was not properly wrapped, headboard/ footboard of our bed wasn't wrapped at all, they put the heaviest of boxes on top crushing all the lighter boxes beneath - the list goes on. The price they charged was ASTRONOMICAL compared to the amount of time it should have taken to complete the job. After bleeding the clock for over 4 hours to move 3 rooms, I started moving boxes into the garage myself. I reached out to Hunter Armstrong twice to try to rectify this situation - both emails have gone unanswered. (He was very quick to respond to my email requesting a quote before all of this happened.) I hired them to pack my house for staging. They sent 2 guys for $120 per hour. I had and still have several moving boxes. Because they charge for boxes, they didn't use mine. I'm selling my couch before moving. While packing they packed a power strip with a plug for the electric recliner. Literally detached it from the couch and packed it. I went in the pod to see if I could find it. I have not yet. What I did find were several half packed boxes. I've attached some photos for reference. So point one for them They clearly don't have common sense though because they put my flat inch 65 inch tv standing up in a corner with nothing to keep it from falling so guess what happened? It took a week for ME to contact the company to follow up with the claim I filed and she said she would have to confirm the settlement for my tv with the president even though the movers flat out said it was their fault and I provided a receipt for the tv I bought less than six months before they broke it. They never called to approve the settlement and Hunter the so called manager can't seem to call me back even though he's apparently the only one who can give me any info on where my check is or how much it is for. It's been two weeks of "we put the check in the mail." And there is still no check. I had a package from New York get here in three days but a check mailed from Austin to Austin is two weeks late? I call bullshit. I have not heard from anyone and no matter how many times I call, I can get no real answers. The cherry on top? The mover decided after breaking my tv it was a good idea to get my number off my paper work and start texting me to ask me out. WTF??? Had them move our entire 3000 sq.ft. household locally in Feb. 2020. Hunter Armstrong gave us the impression that they would be a professional and reliable company. During the move, a book case was destroyed (literally fell of the truck and broke into pieces) and our piano was damaged. It took them 8 month to send somebody to repair the piano, and over one year to finally settle for the book shelf - AND the check was smaller than we agreed upon. Attention, they were hiding behind a technicality that makes them liable only for 50 ct per pound of damaged good. This means if they drop your Chinese vase worth thousands, they are liable for 2 lb x $0.50 and get away with paying one dollar in damages. Calls were usually not returned, they went through 3 employees who handled our claim and the outcome after one year was absolutely frustrating. I would NOT RECOMMEND Blue Whale Moving. Read More

I've used Blue Whale Moving several times in the past. The moves themselves haven't always gone 100% smoothly, but I understand that sometimes things happen. And I've appreciated the genuine effort they've put into making things right. Until now. Blue Whale has some good folks on their staff. Several years ago I used them to move across town, and on the morning of the move, no truck arrived. After a while I called to check in, and long story short: one of their drivers had failed to show that day. We would be waiting a while until another of their crews could finish up and come do our move. One of their office employees came by personally and apologized. She also waited and kept reaching out for updates, keeping the lines of communication open and keeping us apprised of what was going on. Eventually we got a crew, and some extra movers. They knocked out the move crazy fast, were extremely professional, and knocked a good chunk of money off the move as an apology for what had happened. More recently though, I'm left wondering if more and more of those good people have just moved on. My wife and I bought a house this year, and when we moved in, the movers they sent struggled to get our couches up the stairs, and in the process, they dropped one of our couches at the top of the stairs knocking loose several steps. When I let the movers know what they had done, rather than apologize or accept any responsibility, they said "whoever built this house did it in a rush," and tried to blame the broken steps on shoddy construction. I let them know the stairs had survived 25 years just fine until they dropped a couch on them, and we went on with the rest of the move. The next day I filed a claim with the company. That was over three months ago. After not hearing anything for several weeks, I called. The employee who handled their claims said he would contact their vendor and I should hear from them in the coming days. Another week or so passes by, and I hear nothing. So I call again. Again, "any day now." Weeks pass, and after a seemingly endless game of phone tag, I get ahold of Hunter, who lets me know that the employee who handled their claims left the company abruptly, but he's going to handle my claim personally. Another week passes, and nothing. I call back, but Hunter's in a meeting. I try several times before finally leaving a message letting them know I intend to file a complaint with the Texas DMV once their 90 day period to settle the claim is up. That was over a week ago, and as of this writing, I still haven't heard anything. I think there are probably good people at Blue Whale who want to take pride in their company. But whether through bad management, bad luck, or just incompetence, none of that shines through the way it used to. If we ever move again, I won't be using their services. We hired Blue Whale to move our belongings out of our home on 6/17/19, store them for the summer, and deliver them on 8/3/19 to our new home. We knew right away that they were unprepared. Despite my requests for mattresses to be wrapped and items to be padded, they did not have enough supplies and even ended up using our packing tape to wrap the few items they had plastic to cover. Parts were strewn around the house and hardware needed to reassemble furniture was left behind. When furniture was returned in August, we were shocked at the amount of damage. Even a Blue Whale employee told us we shouldn't be charged for the move and noted that almost EVERY item had some sort of damage. Hunter came out to our home the following Monday to assess the damages and told us to proceed with the claims process. I spent hours and hours putting together a list of all required information, along with countless photos of the damaged items. Hunter took weeks to finally contact us and set up an appt. with a furniture repair company. A few solid wood items were touched up, but there were several open items and the repairs were not to our satisfaction. Hunter sent a different company out to assess the damages to mattresses, fabric and leather items. At this point, we had reached the 90 day period and moved forward with filing for mediation, as his settlement offer was unacceptable and INCOMPLETE. That was in Dec. 2019. We have still yet to hear from Hunter on any plan to repair any additional furniture or compensate us. If I could give no stars, this business would deserve that. We hired Blue Whale to move our belongings out of our home on 6/17/19, store them for the summer, and deliver them on 8/3/19 to our new home. We knew right away that they were unprepared. Despite my requests for mattresses to be wrapped and items to be padded, they did not have enough supplies and even ended up using our packing tape to wrap the few items they had plastic to cover. Parts were strewn around the house and hardware needed to reassemble furniture was left behind. When furniture was returned in August, we were shocked at the amount of damage. Even a Blue Whale employee told us we shouldn't be charged for the move and noted that almost EVERY item had some sort of damage. Hunter came out to our home the following Monday to assess the damages and told us to proceed with the claims process. I spent hours and hours putting together a list of all required information, along with countless photos of the damaged items. Hunter took weeks to finally contact us and set up an appt. with a furniture repair company. A few solid wood items were touched up, but there were several open items and the repairs were not to our satisfaction. Hunter sent a different company out to assess the damages to mattresses, fabric and leather items. At this point, we had reached the 90 day period and moved forward with filing for mediation, as his settlement offer was unacceptable and INCOMPLETE. That was in Dec. 2019. We have still yet to hear from Hunter on any plan to repair any additional furniture or compensate us. I later found out that all he packed for me were my cups and plates. For hours.... "Sign here to confirm we moved everything" obviously I was in the new place now and they were ready to go to their next job, I trusted that everything was good and everything was moved out... I didn't have time to monitor every move... when in fact later I discovered that an incredible amount was not moved at all! The photos I have attached is everything they didn't even touch. I live alone and couldn't possibly do all that myself in my deadline. I called the office about my experience and she said, "I'm so sorry that happened. This is not usual. We will get people out there either today or tomorrow to complete the job and rectify this experience. So sorry about that." Whew, I'm gonna be taken care of, right? Then I get a call from one of the movers who left his jacket at my old apartment. He mentioned that they gave him a call, but he informed me that they'd still charge me an additional $120/hr. Look for the one-star reviews in Google and Yelp. THAT was my experience. Packers showed up late on Friday and didn't pack everything in the house. Movers showed up late on Saturday and didn't move everything in the house. They finished around 8pm leaving little time to get rooms situated for bed. I spent Sunday packing and moving what was left. What was packed was packed well but that hardly matters given how awful the rest of it was. Many of the boxes were not labeled. I'm opening boxes from the laundry room and garage in my bedroom. I asked the movers how they were going to protect my new and pricey mattress. "Wrap it" they said. Well guess what? I saw my unwrapped mattress on the dirty floor of the truck being lugged down the ramp and into the house. They drug lawn furniture through the house instead of going in through the side yard gate. A cable for the adjustable bed was broken and must be replaced. Daughter's vanity was reassembled with screws poking out the front. Kitchen table was reassembled upside down on the hardwood floor (no pad which is what I would use) and now has scratches on it. End tables scratched up. Refrigerator handles scratches even though they took the handles off. Dents in washer and dryer. The home I moved out of has a huge gouge in 2-month-old hardwood floors. Movers and packers smoked cigarettes all day and left butts lying around. There's more but this is should be enough to discourage you from using this company. I stupidly did not read Yelp reviews, only looked at the 4.5 star rating on Google which I don't understand at all. I let the owner know via email on the next day because I was livid. Update: The below remains accurate, however Blue Whale has reached out to me as part of settling my complaint with TxDOT and rectified the matter. Blue Whale completed the move as originally quoted, and compensated for the small damages caused during the move. I've changed my score from 1 star to 3 stars to reflect this resolution. --- Blue Whale Movers were courteous but 3 hours late and did not complete the work, left furniture in dangerous assembly conditions, and left my home damaged. I called Blue Whale the morning of the move to confirm my appointment since I had not heard from them except when we first booked it. They stated that we were confirmed and movers would call us 20 minutes before arrival. An 8:30-9:30am arrival window turned into a 12:30pm arrival, with no apology or mention of being outside of the window. Once arrived, my movers were very friendly but clearly unequipped to handle my home. They had to ask to borrow tools to disassemble furniture, and tried to move the refrigerator without measuring for clearance, damaging our newly renovated kitchen in several areas. Being as they started 3 hours late, it was almost midnight when they finally arrived in our new Austin home. Understandably exhausted and ready to move on, our movers dumped all the boxes and furniture in our living room. They did assemble 2 beds before they left but 1 was incomplete and falling apart, fortunately I noticed before putting my daughter to bed. 0 boxes were moved to the rooms we designated, and nothing else was put together. We were charged $280 extra for having more boxes than we estimated, which is fine, it happens anytime you quote with movers. We weren't discounted for not moving things on the estimate, but hey, the price was pretty cheap to start. 1 lamp was broken during the move, but overall most items were handled with care. The refrigerator was banged up pretty badly from attempting to move it without ensuring there was clearance (it cleared just fine once the bottom drawer was removed), and there were gashes in the wall from furniture hitting it. The movers upon arrival told me they wouldn't hook up or install our washer dryer, saying they weren't qualified to do so. That's fine but wish they had told us this before the move, as we now have to pay someone to do it. I hope they were qualified to remove the washer and dryer in the first place I've escalated my dissatisfaction with the customer rep who set up the move the next morning, but have yet to hear back other than to say they would be forwarding my feedback for review. I hope Blue Whale takes the opportunity to make it right and either refund a portion of my move, pay for the repairs to my home, and/or have crew come and complete what we paid for. Read More

The refrigerator was banged up pretty badly from attempting to move it without ensuring there was clearance (it cleared just fine once the bottom drawer was removed), and there were gashes in the wall from furniture hitting it. The movers upon arrival told me they wouldn't hook up or install our washer dryer, saying they weren't qualified to do so. That's fine but wish they had told us this before the move, as we now have to pay someone to do it. I hope they were qualified to remove the washer and dryer in the first place I've escalated my dissatisfaction with the customer rep who set up the move the next morning, but have yet to hear back other than to say they would be forwarding my feedback for review. I hope Blue Whale takes the opportunity to make it right and either refund a portion of my move, pay for the repairs to my home, and/or have crew come and complete what we paid for. Read More

Update: The below remains accurate, however Blue Whale has reached out to me as part of settling my complaint with TxDOT and rectified the matter. Blue Whale completed the move as originally quoted, and compensated for the small damages caused during the move. I've changed my score from 1 star to 3 stars to reflect this resolution. --- Blue Whale Movers were courteous but 3 hours late and did not complete the work, left furniture in dangerous assembly conditions, and left my home damaged. I called Blue Whale the morning of the move to confirm my appointment since I had not heard from them except when we first booked it. They stated that we were confirmed and movers would call us 20 minutes before arrival. An 8:30-9:30am arrival window turned into a 12:30pm arrival, with no apology or mention of being outside of the window. Once arrived, my movers were very friendly but clearly unequipped to handle my home. They had to ask to borrow tools to disassemble furniture, and tried to move the refrigerator without measuring for clearance, damaging our newly renovated kitchen in several areas. Being as they started 3 hours late, it was almost midnight when they finally arrived in our new Austin home. Understandably exhausted and ready to move on, our movers dumped all the boxes and furniture in our living room. They did assemble 2 beds before they left but 1 was incomplete and falling apart, fortunately I noticed before putting my daughter to bed. 0 boxes were moved to the rooms we designated, and nothing else was put together. We were charged $280 extra for having more boxes than we estimated, which is fine, it happens anytime you quote with movers. We weren't discounted for not moving things on the estimate, but hey, the price was pretty cheap to start. 1 lamp was broken during the move, but overall most items were handled with care.
