We moved our daughter from LA to San Diego in the same day. I contracted Allied Moving and was referred to Blue Chip Moving as they were the local providers. Bruce, the sales rep, was very helpful and reasonable. To minimize the time (and cost) the movers needed to pack, Bruce documented that we had all her boxes and furniture in one spot. A list of all items with dimensions, including furniture, was provided. The sales rep acknowledged that the furniture, TV, and canvas painting needed to be wrapped and protected. The contract even stated that the TV needed to be in a box. The moving coordinator Carol contacted me and assured me that all movers were employees of Allied or Blue Chip, and not 3rd parties or subs. However, when I asked the movers if they work for Blue Chip or Allied, I was told that they were from another company and they do work for Blue Chip. When the movers arrived, the experience was unpleasant from the beginning. 1. The movers admitted that they did not bring any boxes or packing materials because they "had lots of big moves earlier" and only brought used paper and blankets. I was also told that they emptied the truck because they didn't know how much stuff we had, but I had provided a detailed itemized list with dimensions and the estimate used my list. 2. They did not want to wrap the couch or bed in plastic and I had to insist on wrapping to keep the items clean. They just wanted to cover it with used pieces of brown paper. 3. They did not secure most of the furniture ; my husband was there when the truck was opened and saw that much of the furniture fell or shifted on arrival to San Diego. 4. Specifically, a favorite wooden dresser in great condition arrived in San Diego with significant damage to three of the handles. When packing, the movers took the drawers out and moved the empty dresser but refused to put the drawers back into the dresser because it "would save time on arrival". I was assured that they would be secured. On arrival to San Diego, my husband saw that the dresser frame had fallen over onto other items and the drawers had slid on the truck floor. After the movers left, we noticed that one handle was split and two handles were missing wood. The movers never admitted the damage and never gave us the pieces that had broken off for repair. 5. The movers were always rushing, banging the items in the walls. We did not feel that they cared about being careful, only trying to get back on the road as quickly as possible, because they wanted to drive back to LA. In regards to timing, I paid for 11 hours but they showed up at 8am and left at 1:30pm, with traffic taking only 2 hours to get back. They were paid way more than the hours they spent and I am upset that they rushed so much when we did everything to make the move easy so they could take more time to be careful with our items. What is most disappointing is that the move coordinator emailed me afterwards asking: "Hi Leticia, I wanted to check in with you to see how everything went with delivery. Did you have any questions? " I described the issues and she never responded back. Why bother sending the email? I realistically expect that things can get damaged in a move, but much of this was preventable. The price was reasonable with no hidden fees, just as quoted. The crew were respectful, responsible, and caring for us, our senior parents, our belongings, and the houses. They showed up early and did a wonderful job. They used protective carpets to protect the floor and the stairs. They packed furniture well with blankets and tapes. They disassembled and reassemble furniture and beds, and put them in the places we wanted. No missing boxes, no damages to both houses (old and new), and personal properties, although they put some boxes in wrong rooms with the boxes and the rooms labeled respectively, but that was expected for a big move and a big 5 bedroom house, minor things compared to the overall excellent job. Bradley Taggart, Laney O'Toole, and the driver Keith were very professional, polite, and nice. Bradley came to estimate and gave great advise on how to pack to save money on the packing. Brad was quick to reply our texts and emails and a great communicator. We felt much better after his visit. He was really helpful and took away our worries. Laney was very polite, she coordinated the move and let us know when the driver and crew will come to load and unload. She was very helpful. I had Blue Chip pack and move us locally in Orange County on Halloween during the covid pandemic. The crew was very respectful of the situation and wore their PPE the entire time and did their best to make sure we felt comfortable with their presence in our house. Our move lasted three days and we just had twins (3 weeks old) with that being said, they were especially considerate of what was to be packed and when it was packed and help ensure we had all necessary items readily available as we needed them. They made sure to ask if they ever had a question on what or how we wanted something packed. When we delivered, all boxes were appropriately placed in the correct rooms and made unpacking easier than I thought it would be. Just had the worst experience. This was a military move. Every one of these items was boxed and/or wrapped by the moving company in New York. Our understanding was that all items would be put away in CA in the same manner that they were picked up from in NY. All of our folded clothing was unpacked from boxes and thrown onto our bed along with our perfume and colognes. 3 trays of my make up were unpacked from boxes and thrown onto the bed. My bare wax candles were unpacked from boxes and thrown onto our bed. 2 glasses of marbles (used to hold make up brushes) were unpacked, unwrapped and thrown onto our bed - loose marbles just thrown onto a bed. The bare wax candles bled all over our comforter and expensive restoration hardware bedding. These items are now stained. We would have rather have left all items boxed that were already neatly folded as opposed to these items being thrown onto our bed. We now have to refold everything making double triple work for us. Seems extremely odd to me to just spitefully launch people’s clothing, perfumes (these things are glass with fluid in them), makeup and bare scented wax candles all over a bed. Just had the worst experience. This was a military move. Every one of these items was boxed and/or wrapped by the moving company in New York. Our understanding was that all items would be put away in CA in the same manner that they were picked up from in NY. All of our folded clothing was unpacked from boxes and thrown onto our bed along with our perfume and colognes. 3 trays of my make up were unpacked from boxes and thrown onto the bed. My bare wax candles were unpacked from boxes and thrown onto our bed. 2 glasses of marbles (used to hold make up brushes) were unpacked, unwrapped and thrown onto our bed - loose marbles just thrown onto a bed. The bare wax candles bled all over our comforter and expensive restoration hardware bedding. These items are now stained. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! Let me just start by saying, if I could give zero stars, I would. We moved out of our home of 22 years into a temporary arrangement for a few months while our new house was being finished. We talked to Joseph Martin at Blue Chip who said they were part of the Mayflower company and even gave us a glossy pamphlet (photos attached). He said we would get 2 trucks and 4 movers, one truck to pack vaults (in front of us) to go to storage and the other to move some of our stuff to our temporary place. What ACTUALLY showed up was a very small truck and only 3 movers, who were from SAVON NOT BLUE CHIP. They had apparently contracted this job out to another company, unbeknownst to us. Because this obviously was not what we contracted for, and it was way too small, my husband had to borrow a family member's truck and make two trips back and forth by himself. I spoke to Mr. Martin, who was incredibly rude and asked if we "want to move or not" and told us to just let them pack it. He was not at all accommodating. Trying to make arrangements to move into our new house was almost impossible. It took a week for someone to get back to my husband regarding a date. Now, moving into our new home, the second photo is what showed up. As you can see, this is not remotely like the truck in the pamphlet and we were wary of even talking to these movers. It was the tackiest make-shift moving truck. After starting to unpack the truck, it was very apparent that much of our furniture was not cared for during the trip. Our brand-new custom sofa (which had not been wrapped like the photos) had holes and was completely ripped on the bottom, not to mentioned soiled and stained in many places. Boxes that had "fragile" clearly written on them had been crushed and tossed about carelessly. Attached is a photo of a piece of my late mother's crystal, one of the many pieces that was broken. Our total for the pick-up was $2422 and they took off $400 for the missing truck and missing mover, however I think those would've cost much more than $400. *DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY* Read More
