I've used their services twice (first time in 2022, second time 2023). The first time was great, so we hired them again a second time, which was not good. I want to emphasize that the majority of negative feelings pertain to the physical moving stage, although the coordination leading up to it could have been smoother as well.
The good: The people who I directly worked with, Dylan and Andres, were pleasant people.
The bad: The coordination leading up to the moving date was a bit sloppy. We confirmed a move date via email and phone but they delayed sending me the written contract. When I asked about it, they said they were in a scheduling conflict because a different client cancelled their move, which affected the driver schedule to pick up our stuff. Bekins asked if we could reschedule my move date. I was hesitant, so they eventually came around and honored our original date agreed upon.
The ugly: During the physical move, our items were either damaged beyond repair, damaged but functional, improperly assembled.
1) Handmade glass sea turtle ornament from Hawaii was hanging on the wall next to our office desk before the movers started. During packing, I saw it broken on the window sill. 6) Damaged wrapping paper. A new roll of gift wrap paper was crumpled into the box with other items, making it no longer suitable as gift wrap.
7) Damaged table dinner mats. 2 dinner mats were used to wrap around silverware, instead of using packing paper and keeping the mats flat. The mats are now crumpled.
8) Missing/loose screws from office desk. I told Andres that the desk feels wobbly, and he said it was like that before moving. That is not true. I found 3 screws on the floor later in the room that secure the desk foot to the leg. I had to flip it upside down and screw them in myself.
9) Incorrectly assembled bed frame. The queen bed frame's side rails were installed upside down, so the stop blocks for the mattress slats were on the wrong side. Consequently this caused the mattress slats to move around, and cause instability of the mattress on top. I had to disassemble and correctly reassemble it myself.
10) Damaged handmade wooden clock. A wooden piece was snapped broken.
11) Damaged baby high chair. The plastic parts were scratched/gouged by metal poles from a disassembled clothing rack. The items were clearly not packed appropriately to prevent causing damage. Read More

I've used their services twice (first time in 2022, second time 2023). The first time was great, so we hired them again a second time, which was not good. I want to emphasize that the majority of negative feelings pertain to the physical moving stage, although the coordination leading up to it could have been smoother as well.
The good: The people who I directly worked with, Dylan and Andres, were pleasant people.
The bad: The coordination leading up to the moving date was a bit sloppy. We confirmed a move date via email and phone but they delayed sending me the written contract. When I asked about it, they said they were in a scheduling conflict because a different client cancelled their move, which affected the driver schedule to pick up our stuff. Bekins asked if we could reschedule my move date. I was hesitant, so they eventually came around and honored our original date agreed upon.
The ugly: During the physical move, our items were either damaged beyond repair, damaged but functional, improperly assembled.
1) Handmade glass sea turtle ornament from Hawaii was hanging on the wall next to our office desk before the movers started. During packing, I saw it broken on the window sill. When I asked the team if anyone knew what happened, they said they found it broken on the desk. All I know is, it was intact before they arrived, and broken after they started. If it is true that they found it broken, I think that they should have called me over immediately to tell me that they found it broken, but they did not. They also took no care to avoid the broken shards, so those shards were found later in the packing, and on top of the desk.

They were amazing. Super detailed and careful when they were packing up our house, a bit too careful. They wrapped up little legos in paper, a Vaseline container in paper, a towel, etc but I appreciated it. It's better to be over protective than have all my things break. They were pretty quick and my final price was not tremendously over. Every time we've moved in the past, we ended up paying thousands more but this time it was very minimal. The guys were really nice and friendly.
We had some difficulty getting the 18 wheeler in our new house but they rented a small uhaul truck to go back and forth, which I knew was a total pain but they did it and still had a smile on their face. It was also 100 degrees out, not a complaint.

I can't recommend AMS Bekins highly enough. I just relocated from Diamond Heights in San Francisco proper, to north Scottsdale, Arizona.
I had to hit very specific dates on very short notice, both for my move out of my condominium in San Francisco, and for my move-in in Scottsdale Arizona. Bill the estimator came to give me the estimate for my move. He was great, and turns out his estimate was spot on with estimating the weight and number of pieces that I had to move. More importantly to me, he listened to my needs and date specifications, and then clearly communicated back to me about what AMS Bekins could and could not do, which was perfect.
Austin came next, who coordinated the entire move. Austin's communication was constant, professional, and spot in. It was clear Austin was working very hard to make sure I would be a very happy, satisfied customer - and his efforts worked - I am very happy satisfied customer!!!
Last I want to call out and really complement Eric, Who not only was part of my packing and unpacking crew, he was the moving van driver who physically drove my stuff to Arizona for me. Eric communicated every step of the way, plus was always professional and polite - and really just a first class, Nice guy!
