Please be aware of this company "The Altar Boys" it is the worst kind of moving company you can ever make business with!!! Don't let them entice you with their prices!! Not true!! Don't let them convince you with their services, they get low paid sub contractors to do the job, who couldn't care less for you and your belongings!! Once they get you, there is no one assuming responsibility for your stuff. No manager, no sales person, no foreman NO ONE will help you!!! My nightmare began on April 27th when moving company called Rigo's moving took my belongings from Ontario CA to Idaho. I was promised a delivery date of May first, but 21 days later nobody could tell me what happened with my stuff!! After many attempts of getting hold of someone I heard different stories from a woman called Mary and a guy called Anthony. Stories including that the truck had a blown radiator to the truck got impounded by the police somewhere in AZ because it got involved in an accident. No explanation, not a human being available to talk to me. A lot of phone hung ups, ghost transfers etc. Finally, on May 19th a completely different moving company delivered my severely damaged goods. A lot of stuff is just missing and in one box I didn't pack I got two smalls plastic bins with stuff that don't belong to me. Again nobody has answered my many calls!! SCAM!! Please read full review. I would give zero stars if I could . Again just telling me what I wanted to hear..however it's been months now and I have not received my deposit back into my account, I contacted Fred back this week for him to tell me that he would not do anything for me and just block my number. I wish this on no one as these people are completely a unprofessional company and taking advantage of us in distress during our moving process. I want to be upfront: in the end, the cost to move to Oregon using Altar Boys was comparable to other companies. However, there is no way I would ever recommend this place to anyone for the following reasons. I chose to use Altar Boys because they gave me the lowest rate of $3.40/cubic foot for moving from CA to OR. I gave the salesman a meticulous spreadsheet of everything I owned complete with measurements. He told me it would come out to 992 cubic feet.l, and I confirmed with him that he reviewed my spreadsheet and factored in the inevitable additional space. He said that he overestimated to factor that in, and I signed the estimate. One day before the move, a man from the company called me to discuss my inventory. I sent him my spreadsheet to review, but he would not look at it. After discussing my inventory, the man said that my cubic footage was actually around 1300 and that my estimate would increase by almost $1000. When he sent me the revised estimate, I noticed that the price per cubic foot had changed to $3.65. When I asked him about this, he immediately put me on hold and put his manager on the phone. The manager said that my original estimate was wrong and there was no way he would honor that price. At this point I was feeling helpless and I didn't know what to do. I called around, and there were no other options. On the day of the move, I threw away several pieces if furnature to try to get the estimate back down to 1000cf. When the movers arrived at my home, they looked at my stuff and told me that there was no way it would fit into 1000cf. They said that it would take about 1500cf. This would have increased the cost by another $1000, and I started panicking. I told them to do the best they could and stop at 1200cf, and I would dispose of the rest. A couple of hours later they told me that they had reached 1200cf in the truck. At that point, I had a lot of furniture left including my couch, coffee table, three book shelves, my bbq grill, and my entertainment center. I began panicking even more. How could there be so much left? Looking at their truck, I knew something was off. They had only filled about 30% of their 26 foot truck. I started taking measurements and it was obvious that I still had much more room to fill. After arguing with them for 2 solid hours and having my engineer friend calmly explain the math, they finally agreed to finish loading the truck to the correct measurement. In the end, I still had to leave my couch and the movers broke my entertainment center, but my belongings arrived on-time. The company who delivered our stuff was a different, sub-contracted company. They were pleasant to deal with and they worked hard. All in all, it was a traumatic experience using this company. They were not upfront about their prices, and they seemed pretty deceitful. SCAM! Please read! Would give zero stars. This was a absolute nightmare. Moving is already hard enough and the man named "fred" seemed nice on the phone giving me the best price for my move from LA to Kansas - however there's a reason why it was the cheapest option, because it was a total scam. He quoted 1700 for my move when other moving companies quoted me double that..so of course I was interested in the best deal. But that was the first red flag. My roommate used a company called "visions moving" and that is what I looked up for the reviews (which were good) and so I called "visions moving" and that's the company I thought I was speaking to the whole time. However after giving them a $300 deposit and making my reservation I noticed on the paperwork they emailed it said "alter boys" for the company name. Next red flag.. I posted pictures to show you they have the same phone number with different names - then I found this yelp with all these bad reviews etc within the refundable 24 hour cancelation period of giving my deposit.. so I called "Fred" asking to him to please explain all this. He literally could not answer as to why his company has the same phone number as "visions moving" and how I got ahold of them. He claimed they are not a broker and they are they're own company. I asked him about the bad reviews on this yelp and he claimed that people did not put on there itinerary everything they had so that is why they were charged more for there quote, so he claims "everything little thing is important" so I had him put in writing that my quote would not change per cubic square feet that we agreed on and my itinerary that I had.. but even after he did this I just had a weird feeling in my gut. So I made the cancelation request to have my deposit put back on my card and go with another moving company overall. Frank confirmed with me that he put in my request and that my deposit would be refunded back onto my card within a week, however this was 3 weeks ago and I there still has been no refund to my card. I put a claim with my bank for this fraudulent transaction hoping that I will at least get some kind of relief maybe with that to get my deposit back, but I doubt I'll get it by the time I need it for my move. Im just praying at this point and I'm scared as I am a young woman by myself struggling - already having to move closer to family for help. I don't wish this experience on anyone as it has really discouraged my whole concept of life/people. It really is the worst feeling to get taken advantage of.. I have nothing nice to say about this company. I was initially swindled by Raymond who stated that my items picked up on 10/22/2020 and delivered 10/26/2020 no later than 10/27/2020. This did not happen, not only did my items not arrive until 10/31/2020, I was told I would receive them the evening of the 10/28/2020 and then once that did not happen it would be the next morning which needless to say did not happen.. Not only did they throw my stuff in the moving van (literally one TV thrown on the top of everything the other TV crushed between trailer door and my other items, the majority of mine and my children's totes were crushed, my dresser with mirror, chest, both night stands look like they were drug along the ground, 55 inch TV shattered which was boxed in the appropriate TV box, which Raymond instructed me to get. The most upsetting of all was the fact that this company supposedly lost all 3 of my children's beds!!! yeah right!!! They were some very nice beds!!!! Just sad!!!! I filled out there "claim form". My Move from Woodland Hills to Texas. In short, they arrived exactly when they said they would arrive. The crew was clean, efficient, respectful and were good about Covid Precautions. I wish the sales guy would have been a little better at estimating my Cubic Feet, the move ended up costing substantially more than the original estimate. The delivery at destination was delayed from the estimate, but within the limits of the Contract... Delay was due to insane demand... everyone who had planned to move in March-June waited to see what would happen with Covid-19 and then all rushed the system at once in July... as there were fewer drivers and trucks available (Because everyone was at home eating up 900.00 per week on Unemployment.) they were working hard to fill the demand... so I guess thats not their fault, but a little better communication would have been appreciated. We had one minor casualty, the foot of a bed came off while loading the truck, but I noticed it after they left and took it with me, fixed it myself. Nothing else broken... nothing missing that I can tell so far. I've read the reviews here and it's clear that several of the "Low Raters" don't really know how long distance moving works. In a nut-shell, and this is how they ALL work, the local moving company comes to get your stuff in a small truck, they take your things to a warehouse, combine it with other people's stuff and load it all onto a Tractor Trailer to move several people's things at once. Its not great, it is what it is. For those Amateur investigators out there, it took me all of about 10 mins to figure out that Altar Boys is a dba (Doing business as) of Rigos Moving & Delivery, and yes, they've been around for a while and have an okay rating... its really not hard to figure out since their LICENSE NUMBER is RIGHT ON THE TOP OF THE ESTIMATE. Yes, this company uses brokers to sell their services, all of them do, its how the industry works. A word of caution to people moving across country. You are ultimately charged for the amount of cubic feet you consume ON THEIR TRUCK. Not the actual cubic feet of your belongings... the little 1-2 inch gaps between items adds up FAST! That being said, the movers did a pretty good job packing the truck tightly, I didn't feel like there were any shenanigans there. Over all...
