I got a quote that changed twice in the move, I was lied to about being the only person on the truck for the delivery and it would be a straight shot over to my destination. I was attacked verbally by the owner when I called his company out for lying to me and not performing to the standards that they set for me to gain my business. They damaged nearly all of my goods and furniture. They do not call you back when they say they are going to. You would do well to steer very clear away from this company because all it will bring you is a lot of money taken from you, horrible customer service, no empathy, damaged items, and damaged home. I have made several attempts to reach a resolution with the business and all it accomplished was being accused of threatening the owner which I never did, lack of follow up on their end, and just got sent a claim email with no regard or care at the fact that my items were destroyed and the pain and grief they have caused me and my wife. Shane explicitly told me that he was having a bad day and was having issues and then during that conversation, it seems he projected it onto me as a concerned customer who feels that his money and goods were in the wrong hands. I cannot stress this enough to anyone this company does not care about you in any way. They only care about getting your money and they will lie to you to get you to sign the contract and then when you have no other choice they will flip the script on you multiple times. Avoid at all costs and go with someone who will take care of you and respect you and your things. Update received a call from john on June 14 at 8:55 AM. The call from john he was very adamant and upset that the reviews were still up and that the letter wasn't signed. I let him know that according to your letter it was good for 90 days. John with a quick and harsh tone replies back "no it's good for now". I replied back to him letting him know that's not according to the verbiage of the contract that you've sent me. I can hear someone in the background giving john instructions and then he goes ahead and asked me again "so are you going to remove the reviews or not". I let them know I'm still thinking about it and I have these 90 days to go ahead and decide on it so I'm not appreciating feeling rushed and if you guys were such a great company you wouldn't be calling me demanding that I remove my reviews. John then asked me "so what are we doing here are you just trying to bust my balls". I can continue to hear someone giving him instructions in the back and then john replies to me "so I'm just gonna go ahead and have Shane send a void of contract". I then let John know "You know if Shane is there in the background he can just talk to me directly ". The phone call that abruptly hung up and I did not receive a call back. This direct attempts at trying to gag me and cover up the damage that they know that they've done is complete proof that the lack of integrity that this business has. My integrity is worth more than the $1100 that they were trying to give me in a settlement to hide the truth of this business. Agility Van Lines - Worst Move Ever!! We’ve moved 13 times in the past 27 years due to military and government service. This was by far the worst experience ever and I’m writing this to hopefully prevent someone else from going through what we went through. Here’s a quick summary if you don’t have time to read the entire review: - Showed up to do an hour of work the day after they were initially scheduled to arrive - Only does owner-inventory estimate instead of the more accurate and common in-person/video/facetime estimate from a professional estimator; this leads to a low estimate; it sounded like a good deal – read on… - Lack of video or in-person estimate allows for a bait-and-switch type of (con?) methodology, ultimately resulting in our cost doubling from approximately $10,700 to over $21k the first day of the move - Crew was consistently late throughout moving process - Only sent three crewmembers to move a four-bedroom house, resulting in longer than usual packing times - Did not bring enough packing materials. Many things just dumped in wardrobe boxes, despite having made at least one extra trip to Home Depot for packing materials. - Failed to professionally pack the truck twice, resulting in leaving a substantial amount of belongings that cost us an additional $6,000+ for another company to finish what Agility could not for over $21k. - Owner Shane Young deflected responsibility, telling this customer that I had to address an issue with the driver and not him, the owner of the company. - Uses a volume-based model instead of the more common weight-based model for cost. Despite paying for volume, the driver did not fill the second truck and made several comments about how his truck was already overweight. We did not pay for weight. We paid for volume and the truck was not filled. - Please read the reviews for this company online. Not just the good ones, sort by the 1-star and less reviews. Many of them are almost the exact same experience we had with Agility Van Lines. We contacted Agility Van Lines in mid-July based on generally positive reviews on Angi (formerly Angie’s List) and another moving review site ([*** Link removed ***] I did not dig deep enough into those reviews, because although you’ll see several glowingly positive reviews (are these legit?), you’ll find many just like our experience. I should have looked further and also looked at the Yelp reviews, which are a lot more like our experience. There are enough reviews similar to our experience that I have to wonder if any laws are being broken. We will be reaching out to federal authorities to find out. Our initial contact was with John, who sent us a link to their online estimate tool, because unlike every other company we contacted, Agility would not do a video estimate of the size/weight of our household goods. This is an important detail anyone moving should pay attention to and one of the reasons I feel like they rely on customer ignorance to take advantage of them. Get a professional estimate done! On 15 July 2021, John used our online estimate to generate a ‘Binding Moving Estimate’ showing a Total Moving Estimate of $10,701.21. This included full packing and exclusive use of their 26’ moving van for their estimated volume of 1768 cubic foot. There were a couple $100 fees for stairs over a certain number at both pickup and delivery. The agreed upon move date would be Sunday or Monday 1 or 2 August 2021 and would be confirmed a day or two prior via phone call from the company. I believe we received that call on 30 July explaining that they would now be arriving the morning of Tuesday, 3 August. Tuesday morning came and went and when we called to find out when the crew would be arriving, the company had them call us. They explained that they had left that morning from Florida and were delayed in storms in the Carolinas. Clearly they had no intention of arriving Tuesday morning if they left Florida en route to Virginia that same morning. They finally arrived at 7pm and after walking around the house, the driver stated that they wouldn’t be able to take all of our household goods and would need a second truck. After a little math, the driver explained that it would double the price of our move. Not understanding how this was possible, I was put on the phone with the owner, Shane Young, who explained that he needed to confirm we needed another truck and I had to sign another binding estimate on the spot or nothing would be moved. I had already taken off work for that week and selected Agility over a couple other companies, so we were in a tight spot. Either agree to double the initial estimate to pay for another truck or miss more work at an unknown date in the future hoping we could get another company. We signed the second document and at some point the driver or Shane explained that we weren’t actually getting a second truck, but instead would get the same truck making two trips. This would extend the timeframe of our move. But wait, it gets better. We subsequently found out that Shane couldn’t handle the expense of sending this crew right back and instead they would have to take a load to Pennsylvania and then another back to Virginia before being able to get the rest of our belongings. Teddy and his crew were at all times polite and kind. No problem there. I do have a problem with a professional moving company packing by volume without much skill in packing. Little effort was made to efficiently pack the truck to maximize the volume we had paid for. Even less care was taken on the second trip where the truck was not filled despite leaving a garage-full of items at our old house. The driver made several comments regarding the weight of his truck being over its limit, a fact he tried to prove by showing us the tires (?). The problem with this excuse is that we did not pay for the shipment by weight; we paid by volume and the 26’ moving truck we paid for was not full. The crew was only able to work for an hour Tuesday night before they had to leave to a nearby hotel and said they’d return in the morning and call before arrival. They did not call until another Agility employee, Denise, called them to see where they were. They gave us an arrival window of 0830-0930 but didn’t arrive until 1045. Halfway through this first packing day the crew explained they did not have enough paper so we gave them some that was left over from our previous move. They made mention of having to go to Home Depot to get more packing materials, boxes, etc. By 7pm the crew had still not begun loading the truck. They eventually loaded over half of the truck and departed at around 11pm, saying they’d be back by 9:30 to finish packing the truck. They said they weren’t going to get more packing materials because they had enough to load the truck with the items they already packed. They did not call or text in the morning until just after 10:00 saying they were about 35 minutes out. They ultimately left late afternoon/early evening Thursday night and would drive overnight arriving sometime Friday morning. My wife and I loaded a 15ft UHaul about ¾ full and departed at approximately 11pm to drive overnight to our new home. We arrived a couple hours before the crew. Upon arrival, our dining table had a huge gash in the surface and the legs of our coffee table were broken. Although kind, the crew did not point out this damage to us when they placed the furniture in the house. The crew departed to make their other shipments ultimately returning to our VA home on 10 August. After loading for almost two days, they ultimately left a large amount of things in our garages. After spending over $21,000 for moving a four bedroom house, I asked the owner whether he was able to do anything about all of the inaccuracies, delayed times, unexpected cost, etc. He said he would look for available dates and come up with an estimate to move the rest. After calling him back a couple days later, he explained that he was unable to guarantee a delivery date so would not be able to provide the service. During my initial call, I complained about one aspect of the second shipment and Shane told me I had to address the problem with his driver, so I had to remind him that it wasn’t my job to address problems with his employee; it was his (the owner’s) job to do this. On 8 September, we accepted delivery of our remaining household goods by another moving company. The new moving company conducted a video/FaceTime walkthrough estimate and ultimately charged us by weight - $6023.34. So, to recap, our four-bedroom house cost us over $27,000 to move, an amount more than some of our overseas moves cost. Fast forward to mid-December and I still haven’t posted this review, but we just opened a box in the garage that helped motivate me to finish and get the review online. In a wardrobe box where they had dumped various household items, which is nowhere close to the proper use for those boxes, we found a moldy, half-eaten Wawa sandwich! One of the movers left, intentionally or not, a half-eaten sandwich in our moving box. Agility Van Lines located in Ft. Lauderdale FL. Type: Full Pack Total Cost for the move from Tennessee to Florida: $6020.15 Pick-Up Date: June 29/30 (two-day window) per contract. Notice given to Apartments that last day would be the 30th. All Utilities and Power shut off on the 30th. Actual Pick-Up date July 3rd. 3 Days in Motel: $420 Payment to Apartments for 3 Days extended to hold furniture: $ 159. The day the movers came to pick-up furniture they told my husband and I that it would take 7 hours and we would need to find a place out of the apartment to be. Which we did. Into about the 5th hour, my husband and I were sitting at the pool we heard a siren and then the Fire Truck stopped in front of our apartment. We went to the apartment. We were standing outside in front of the apartment when one of the movers came out. I asked if they had done anything to trigger the fire alarm and was told no. We then went back to the pool to wait the other 2 hours when we were told we could come back. After an investigation from the Fire Department and the Apartment Management it was suspected that there been smoking marijuana in the storage closet directly attached my apartment. No one at that time was around my apartment except for the movers(no one physically saw the movers smoking) and keep in mind they had ask us to leave the apartment for the 7 hours it was going to take to move? Delivery of the furniture: 2/7-day window and you guessed it; it was delivered on the seventh day. Motel: $ 700 I asked them not to drag the furniture as it would damage the floor. I was ignored. Damage to floor done. Damage also done to many pieces of furniture and glass items. This damage was done in the packing not the delivering. Boxes were labeled but if it said MB, it could have Kitchen and Bathroom things included. All the boxes appeared to just have items thrown in. Glass items not wrapped. Clothes had wardrobe boxes, but the clothes were just dumped in not hung up. I have made many moves and never had my furniture damaged and broken glassware. The movers that delivered the furniture could not find the screws to put the mirror on my Chest and they were just going to leave. I asked the call their office and see if they could ask the drivers who packed furniture if they remembered what they did with them. Driver called and was able to locate the screws and mirror was attached. Items missing baking pans 4 and bedside clock. Total for move: $ 7159.15 plus tips I cannot in good conscience recommend Agility Van Lines not to mention if what were suspected did happen and they were driving under the influence there could have been a tragedy. Delivery of the furniture: 2/7-day window and you guessed it; it was delivered on the seventh day. Motel: $ 700 I asked them not to drag the furniture as it would damage the floor. I was ignored. Damage to floor done. Damage also done to many pieces of furniture and glass items. This damage was done in the packing not the delivering. Boxes were labeled but if it said MB, it could have Kitchen and Bathroom things included. All the boxes appeared to just have items thrown in. Glass items not wrapped. There's no way I can recommend Agility Van Lines for your move. Here was my experience: I booked a specific range of dates for my move because I was going to be in town to finish packing and to make sure the move went well. I was promised that one of those dates, Saturday or Sunday, would work. On Wednesday, I got a phone call to check in and was told it would definitely be Sunday. On Thursday, I got a phone call to finalize the inventory and was told Sunday was the day. But on Saturday a completely different person called to say no one was available on Sunday. I told them that wouldn't work because I had to get back to work. They said they would call back. Hours later, no one called, so I called instead and left a message. The owner, Shane, called me and said Sunday would work. A driver was in the area and would be available for the move. The driver would call late Saturday night to give me a window. No one called Saturday night. Sunday, around Noon, I called Shane again and told him no driver ever called me. That's when he told me no one would be coming. I told him that wouldn't work and he needed to find someone. He said he couldn't, that things happen that are out of his control. I asked him if that was all he had to say to me. I had to prod before he eventually said all he could do was offer me the equivalent of one hotel night for my inconvenience, or $150. I told him I'd have to take a day off and that would cost me a lot more than $150. He said that's all he could do. I told him he could do more if he wanted to but that he didn't want to and that the way he conducted business would certainly be reflected in my review. At that point, he suggested I was blackmailing him, that if he didn't give me more money, I'd write a bad review. Of course, I said no such thing. At that point, he said I'm not the kind of customer he wants and that I should cancel and he'd refund my deposit. I was furious at that point but didn't want to make a rash decision. I told him I'd call him back. I spoke to my wife and we decided to cancel even though we had a short window to move before our house closed. I called Shane back and told him. A couple hours later, Shane called back and offered more money, close to what I would have lost in a day's work, to keep our business, apologizing for the previous interaction. I spoke again with my wife and we decided to take the offer. I wish we hadn't. Shane asked us to pick a date and time and he would make it work. We chose Wednesday around Noon. My father came in from out of town to handle overseeing the move as I had to get back home to work out of state. Once again, the driver never called to give us a window. On Wednesday morning, I had to call and was told the time should work that we had provided but the driver would call. When the driver called, I was given a window of 4pm to 7pm... so not Noon. They finally arrived around 4:30pm. At 7:30pm, my Dad asked how much longer it would be. The movers told him they weren't going to finish that night because they were reaching their hours limit. That's the first we heard of that. After rescheduling for a time that worked and changing my father's schedule for the one day he would be in town, they weren't going to finish. My Dad got on the phone with Shane dumbfounded that they would again be jerking us around. He may have used some language you don't use around kids. After my Dad told me what we going on, I called Shane who decided the biggest issue to discuss was how disrespectful my Dad was to him over the phone. It's truly amazing how clueless Shane is about how business should be done. I was getting jerked around again and this time my Dad was getting caught in the crossfire. At that point, there was nothing that could be done. The movers left and returned the next morning to finish loading. They arrived two days later at our new house and unloaded relatively quickly. Unfortunately, in both the house we were selling and the house we're now renting, the movers managed to bang furniture into walls leaving damage. Perhaps it was only having two movers for a large job that lead to some carelessness. In the end, you get what you pay for. This was a relatively low bid compared to what we've normally paid for a move. When the sales person pitched me on it, he said the reason they charged less is because of their more efficient business model and because they charge by volume instead of weight. Agility Van lines is a classic bait and switch company. The first set of movers were awful. I am not sure if they are coached to nickel and dime the customers as much as possible throughout the day. We paid more than 2K over the original estimate ($6,000+) for a 1,700 square foot house 3bd/2bath. A flight of 12 stairs are "free" in the contract. We had 12 stairs. But, then the mover wanted me to pay more because they had to go up AND down the stairs! Even the owner said that wasn't right, but refused to return the extra charges to us. We had a number of lamps in our inventory - but the mover said we didn't list lamp SHADES, and that would be an extra $300 in boxes. What lamps don't have shades?!? These are just two examples of how the costs were raised on us throughout the day. It took three movers over 15 hours across two days to just LOAD the truck. My concerned neighbors kept coming over to see if there was a problem since it was taking so long. Maybe the movers get paid by the hour? Google it - a move like this (loading only) should take 6-8 hours tops. There is a major issue with dispatch, giving incorrect moving dates, which is a huge problem for coordinating closing dates on house sales. They were three days late and ended up moving us just hours before we had to close on the house and the buyers were doing their walkthrough. I had no time time clean and ended up staying through the wee hours to prep. Almost didn't make it! Movers lost items and damaged items (rugs, mattresses, lamps, and so on). Wrapped things that did not need to be wrapped and did not wrap items that should have been wrapped. Upon delivery, one mover put his foot through the ceiling of my living room when he backed into a second floor crawl space to make a corner while carrying a headboard. They didn't measure first to see if items would fit in the new house. UNPROFESSIONAL. Stay away from this company. Far away. We sent an itemized list of damage with photos of each item to the owner, SHANE. He refuses to talk to us - wants us to go through the third-party claims company for all communication. I've filed a claim with them and have heard NOTHING. I have NEVER written a negative review in my life. I am just trying to save others from the same mistake. PLEASE save yourself heartache, costs, and a potential default on your sale agreement if you're selling/buying a home. Agility Van Lines moving company WORST customer service, NO quality assurance and ABSOLUTELY ZERO customer satisfaction. This company does not have accountability for your property. They let us know that it would be put back together once it arrived in FL. He began cursing because I told him it wasn't our fault we paid over $5,000 dollars for our service and we were getting very bad service. We told him to leave our house and he left arguing the whole way including getting into an argument with a neighbor. A couple of weeks ago the owner of the company called me to discuss what happened with our moving experience. He seems really sincere about making sure his company does a good job. He reimbursed us $300 for damages. Im sorry that I had to write the review in order to get their attention. I can only hope that this is a learning experience for the owner of the company about contracting other trucking companies to haul their loads and using workers that have no affiliation or loyalty to the company. I wish I had read the reviews on here before I hired this company. They told me they did not contract out. The guy that moved us out of our apartment did a good job. Everything was carefully loaded. We moved on Thursday. He said our stuff would arrive on Sunday or Monday. It did not arrive until the next Friday. Our stuff came on a completely different truck and was in a haphazard condition on the truck. One of the guys was wearing flip flops to unload our stuff. We tried to tell them the best way to bring our stuff in but they would not listen and insisted on unloading through the garage and going around a tight corner. They practically threw our stuff in the room. They scrapped the porcelain tiles with the hand truck. There were a lot of broken tub lids and cracks in tubs. Had a box I didn't recognize and it had a tub broken in half and it's contents. Missing a box that contained lampshades. Probably smashed it. They put a big dent in our grill. I found lots of broken glassware and a broken crockery bowl. Crocks are thick and heavy so I can only imagine how they handled the box that it was broken in. A couple of weeks ago the owner of the company called me to discuss what happened with our moving experience. He seems really sincere about making sure his company does a good job. He reimbursed us $300 for damages. Im sorry that I had to write the review in order to get their attention. I can only hope that this is a learning experience for the owner of the company about contracting other trucking companies to haul their loads and using workers that have no affiliation or loyalty to the company. I wish I had read the reviews on here before I hired this company. They told me they did not contract out. The guy that moved us out of our apartment did a good job. Everything was carefully loaded. We moved on Thursday. He said our stuff would arrive on Sunday or Monday. It did not arrive until the next Friday. Our stuff came on a completely different truck and was in a haphazard condition on the truck. One of the guys was wearing flip flops to unload our stuff. We tried to tell them the best way to bring our stuff in but they would not listen and insisted on unloading through the garage and going around a tight corner. They practically threw our stuff in the room. They scrapped the porcelain tiles with the hand truck. There were a lot of broken tub lids and cracks in tubs. Had a box I didn't recognize and it had a tub broken in half and it's contents. Missing a box that contained lampshades. Probably smashed it. They put a big dent in our grill. I found lots of broken glassware and a broken crockery bowl. Crocks are thick and heavy so I can only imagine how they handled the box that it was broken in. I called and called and no one returned my calls. Customer service is not the priority of this company. Once they get your money they could care less about the customer. I just saw the comment on my review from someone at agility, so I wanted to update my review. When I booked my review the representative was very helpful, and that's where helpful stopped. The driver of the pick up vehicle (an agility driver) took full advantage of my deaf mother who was there for the pick up, telling her which things he would put on the truck and which he wouldn't. He told me he would take it all but told my mother he wouldn't. Abusive. They did not "make an exception" for me to allow me to pay with my credit card, I requested this BEFORE booking and was granted, a message they didn't pass along to their drivers. The reason I posted a picture of a different moving company is because agility pulled the typical "bait and switch" even though I was assured time and time again that the drivers who picked up my things would be the ones to drop them off a completely different company showed up at the delivery. With non-English speaking drivers. I'm all about diversity, but if your drivers can not even explain the paperwork that legally binds you to a contract then they shouldn't be representing the company. My $800 mattress, my dresser and my desk were completely destroyed in transit and even though I've sent the damages report upwards of 10x I haven't received a reply or a check. And the reason I did not have to pay for the shuttle service is because the drivers DEMANDED that I allow them to put my things (unthoughtfully placed mind you) In a different unit (a non-climate controlled, smaller and more expensive unit) The driver and copilot were so aggressive with me that the guy working at the storage unit company didn't feel I was safe and didn't leave me alone with them. The driver refused to put my things in my original unit because he didn't want to damage his truck but as I was leaving a mayflower truck backed in on the first attempt to a unit next to my original unit. Pay the extra money for a more legitimate company. Agility will take advantage of the disabled, lie and try to steal from you, they bait and switch for unskilled drivers, and damage your items and ignore your points of contact when you ask them to replace your destroyed items. I could've paid $2500 for another company and still saved a substantial amount of money after considering everything I had to replace due to mistreatment of my things. Read More

Worst experience with a moving company ever. Customer service is horrible, no one ever calls back in this company. After 2 weeks when my things finally came most of the boxes had holes in them and were smashed. And to top it off it looked like the boxes were open. After everything was unloaded there was one box missing. I had the driver if I could write some notes on the receipt and he laughed at me. He spoke very rudely to me in my own home and therefore I told him to leave. We will see how long it actually takes this company to respond to me about my missing box. If I could upload pictures to show how horrible of a shape my boxes are in I would. I hope my 5 mins of creating a yelp account will save you weeks of dealing with stress and frustration. I'm not just an angry customer who was stressed out with my own moving, in fact, I wasn't stressed at all until having to deal with this company. The entire experience was just a nightmare. We recently moved from FL to CA. Everything started smooth with a well spoken and nice sale rep, Angelo. We were looking forward to honest communication and a promising excellent moving experience, neither of which happened. Just for short: * An addition $500+ charge adding to the bill after most of our stuff got loaded to the truck * Multiple phone calls to the company with no answers regarding where our stuff was at or at times, estimated delivery dates that kept changing * 3 weeks of having our bed, mattress, furniture, clothes and everything else sitting in the storage at the origin state. * stuff arrived in damaged condition, torn, worn, opened, missing. * truck and movers surprisingly showed up at a different time to deliver stuff than originally noticed. * apartment elevator ceiling got damaged during unloading I'm glad you're spending some time reading reviews before making the decision. My hope is no one has to go through a whole month of sleeping on air mattress, using plastic silverware, paper plates, and eating out, which cost a lot more than you hoped to save by going with a lower "quote."
