Unprofessional Service, Incomplete Job, and Insulting Compensation – Beware!!! I recently hired AB Moving Company for a move and had an incredibly disappointing experience. I strongly caution anyone considering using their services for the following reasons: **1. Unprofessional Behavior:** One of their movers left in the middle of the job. This left us stranded and significantly delayed our move. **2. Incomplete Service:** We discovered that some of our items were left behind at our old apartment, causing added stress and inconvenience. **3. Property Damage:** My TV cabinet, which retails for $400, was damaged during the move. Despite this, the company offered a measly $50 as compensation. **4. Unauthorized Breaks:** The movers took multiple unauthorized breaks, which we did not agree to pay for. This extended the time needed for the move and inflated our costs. **5. Poor Customer Service:** The supervisor, Trey, avoided me at all costs when it came to resolving these issues. This shows a complete lack of accountability and customer care. After nearly a month of waiting for a resolution, the company offered a paltry one-hour refund, which doesn't begin to cover the damages and inconvenience we've suffered. Ab Moving Company scammed me out of what was a easy move that should’ve only taken 3 hours They took 4 hours to pack up a single-story home that only had one full bedroom worth of furniture (one bed that I broke down myself, two nightstands, and two dressers). In the living room (one TV stand, one regular sofa, and one love seat). A washer and dryer set and a refrigerator. The rest of the house was already packed up and ready to go before they even got there (see pics). Then, when we were finally ready to go, they decided to tell me that they cannot take the toll road and that if they do take the toll road, it’s $2.50 a mile so they took the Backstreets which took an additional 40 minutes. I was so frustrated. I just had them move the furniture into the house and drop everything else in the garage. All in total I spent $814 for five hours of work…. Their excuse was you should’ve paid for an extra person which makes no sense because I used to work for moving company and I know exactly what I’m doing and if they moved with any type of sense of urgency, we could’ve completed this in three hours. And to add insult to injury, they did not even pack the truck the correct way, so I had to rent a U-Haul to get the rest of my things out of the garage… Oh yeah, on a side note, one of the movers told me that the dispatch office was trying to get them to charge me 2 hours to unload the truck and they didn’t because I told them I’m not paying another cent.. Beware! Our quote was way off, and we ended up having to pay much more! The move took many more hours over 2 days instead of the quoted 5 hours, plus we had to pay extra trip fees to move! We went through our house room by room, gave accurate square footage, disclosed large items, etc., but AB Moving grossly underestimated the truck space and time to move us. They did not send large enough trucks and knew it upon arrival. They worked slower trying to make it fit in the smaller trucks but couldn't. The guys were nice, but almost double the high end of their quote is not acceptable. Filing a claim after the move to recover some of that money as suggested by AB Moving resulted in no refund! We fed 6 guys lunch, had cases of water available and tipped each one generously. We even overlooked several damaged and broken items (due to inadequate shrink wrapping) thinking AB Moving would make it right. They did not. Maybe the quote was an error? Maybe the guy who gave the quote was new? However, it feels an awful lot like bait and switch. Can't say enough good things about AB. We rescheduled once because my household was sick and then AB rescheduled because of the road conditions due to bad winter weather in the Dallas area. Not once did customer service make me feel uncomfortable for rescheduling. When the movers showed up for our final date, they were awesome. Got everything loaded up quickly and took care of everything they handled. This was a long distance move and they got to the destination quick and unloaded quickly. The destination was at my elderly mothers place 200 miles from Dallas and she was very happy with how everything went. We will definitely use AB for any future move. Can't say enough good things about AB. We rescheduled once because my household was sick and then AB rescheduled because of the road conditions due to bad winter weather in the Dallas area. Not once did customer service make me feel uncomfortable for rescheduling. When the movers showed up for our final date, they were awesome. I used AB Moving for my move out of a 2300 sq ft home on April 29th to a storage unit. My team was personable and respectful, but it was afterwards that my experience went south. I had explained to the crew that there was only one piece of furniture that I wanted them to take care of: our marble top dining table. I even purchased the heavy duty furniture pads so that it would not be damaged. However, as you can see via the photos, the table was damaged and the wood base needs to be replaced. I contacted AB moving to submit a claim, only for the table. They damaged several other things during our move, including our Sleep Number bed, Ikea closets, etc., but I did not claim any of those items. Because Ikea-grade furniture usually doesn't survive a move, and the Sleep Number bed isn't completely unusable. AB Moving immediately denied my claim, saying that the crew said it was not their fault, and closed the claim. No further followup. Don't expect anything from these guys post-move. I went with them as they were competitively priced and had good reviews. I ended up paying $1200 for a 2300 sq ft home (quoted for 3 hours, took 8....and we almost completely packed everything ourselves in boxes), an unusable table, broken furniture, and a torn bed. Pro: Let me start by saying this company's only saving grace were their actual delivery guys (Justin and Primo). These guys were left to pick up where their company fell short. They were very swift, efficient, and respectful. Con: My delivery time was pushed back 4 times at which it ended up being scheduled outside of my intial 1-4pm window. Was told they could reschedule me with a new crew who could arrive earlier, but turns out they didn't (and no one ever called to confirm), but in the end they did get me with a new crew. ‍ If you're confused by my explanation that's exactly how I felt every time I talked to them. Communication could definitely be improved upon. Their business states that their priority is to reduce stress, but all they did was induce it, as I had other deliveries that I had to be available for. Stressful and inconvenient. Update: After further inspection of my items I found that they did damage some pieces (couch, dining table, armoire) because they were scraping it against the wall. This moving company scratched and deeply gouged so many pieces of our furniture! We are devastated! We moved from Austin area to DFW area. We contacted AB movers due to the good comments we read as well as family using them previously. We were told during the consultation that everything would be wrapped with plastic, covered with blankets and cushioned to protect our pieces. This was not our experience. The furniture was first taken to their storage facility in Plano for 4 days until we could move into our home. So a different crew was used. As they were moving things in, a chair was brought in with a torn off arm, and various pieces were clearly gouged. Where was the protection and cushion they promised?The guy just sat the chair down and went out to bring another piece in. Where was the ripped off arm? 85% of our furniture was damaged! Some of the pieces were wrapped with plastic, many were not. The plastic was as thin as Saran Wrap. It was scraped off with damage. We just received a quote to refinish the damaged items. Some can be finished here, some have to be taken in to shop. Almost $10,000. We asked a full refund of our move which was 5,000. They countered for $400!!!!! What a joke!!! Refused!!! Then they came back with $800, (plus change), which they said is their final offer. This amount isn't even the amount that they are mandated by the state to pay for furniture damage, which is .60 a lb. Don't use this company! This was pure negligence!!! They do not get one star. We were told that they would find a contractor to come fix the floors and about a month later they sent an email claiming that they had spoken to the movers and the movers claimed that the damage was pre-existing. They don't have anyone to talk to on the phone and send you straight to a automated voicemail and do not return phone calls. Twice I requested that #ABMoving send someone to my property to review the items to be moved. Twice I was told it was unnecessary - that per the supervisor's estimate, "only two-thirds of the truck's cargo space" was being used. This is supposed to be what they do for a living, so I didn't press. I would hear from the movers that before they left their offices, they suggested to their supervisor that these items wouldn't fit on this particular truck. The boys stated that the supervisor acknowledged that this was likely true and laughed - sent them anyway. Around 11AM, the young men let me know they didn't think everything would fit. I asked that they call their office. Apparently, their supervisor visited my property to meet with his team. He never presented himself or asked to speak with me; I didn’t know he had been to my home until later that day. Meanwhile, the young men crammed what they could into the moving truck but left a number of large items behind. It was already late into the evening when we arrived at the storage facility in Austin. The young men were apologetic as they unloaded the truck. I still had not heard back from Management by the time they were finished - yet the young men needed a signature. I explained that I wasn't comfortable signing until I spoke with their boss. We finally got him on the line and I explained that several items had been left behind. I explained that since the house was being listed for sale, that the items had to be removed ASAP. Their supervisor was very apologetic. Said he would work with me to resolve the issue. I reluctantly offered to drive back up the next morning and rent a U-Haul to complete the move myself. They apologized that this was likely the only good solution if I needed all the items out by the next business day but urged me to go ahead and sign the moving documents and credit card slip knowing that that they would reimburse for reasonable expenses. The next day, two of us took a day off of work and drove up to rent a U-Haul and pack the items ourselves. I sent #KennyBaker, the President of AB Moving, an itemized account for two vehicles and the rental of a U-Haul. Not for labor. Not for our time. But for a U-Haul truck and gas/mileage. A few weeks later my reimbursement request was denied. I lobbied DISCOVER to contest the charge. They did. AB Moving then sent a poorly worded response (below) where the President of the company states that ‘they provide free estimates but that I did not request one.’ Absolutely false. He then goes on to point to a signed contract and credit card statement that I acknowledged the move - with no mention of his staff urging me to sign both with the understanding that they would reimburse for my expenses. To the extent that we "filled a truck and two SUVs" is not a reflection of my inability to estimate a move correctly - rather theirs. Also, with no straps, items were put into the SUV to prevent the large, free-standing items from moving around and harming them. Which is EXACTLY what happened to all the items which were transported in the back of said moving truck when the large items slid around. Make no mention of the fact that a second trip was required to collect the second SUV as someone had to drive the truck back to Austin. I tried reaching out to the President of AB Moving (Kenny Baker) and left him a lengthy voice mail. It was never returned. I can tell you, as a former business exec for a large firm, I have moved several times (~10) over my career. I have NEVER had a problem accurately describing my inventory. In summary, I could NEVER recommend AB Moving given how poorly they addressed their failings at the onset of the move, during the move and then after the move. Monday, first thing in the morning we tried to reach out to a man, which they said was their boss and they asked us to tell him about the damages. First it went to mailbox, then later the phone was disconnected. We called the main sales line (which you will discover is the only one they answer) and we finally got ahold of a customer service person. She told us we needed to file a claim and send it back. We did and she auto-replied saying she would get back to us in 2 days. 5 days later she hasnt and I struggle to find her (if you dial 3 on their phone you will see). I left many voice messages and she never replied. Friday afternoon one of their sales person finally transferred me to her phone line, after mentioning all the facts the call suddenly dropped and she never called me back.
