Moving from Miami to Vegas with this company was a nightmare. First I spoke to a lady, Ann Mary who asked for an itemized description of all items so she could give me an estimated quote. My quote was 1700$. 2 days before my scheduled move, I receive a call that the truck was ahead and they would come by tomorrow to pick it up. It was a disaster. I was not done packing. On the day of the move, the movers tell me the space that was given to me on the truck was not going to fit all my items. After trying to call Ann Mary she never answered or cared to reach out. FYI once they know the movers are in your home and have your money they don’t care about you. After speaking with a supervisor,( who has no patience, and feels no empathy for the stress people have moving from state to state) I received a flat rate of 2100$. This excluded a 300$ deposit I made when reserving the date of the move, which according to Ann Mary it would be deducted from the total price. A few weeks later after complaining to someone who tried to help but didn’t finish their job, I received an email that my balance was $800. This was because I paid 1000$ with the movers and my $300 deposit. Now my items are in Vegas but the movers in Vegas have the contract made without the 300$ deposit making my remaining balance 1100$. I had to pay that amount if not they wouldn’t unload the truck. I tried calling the company which have always been unreachable when needed. No reply. I showed the movers the email of my remaining balance but they said they have to go with the contract they have which is understandable because the money becomes their responsibility. The movers were nice in Miami and Vegas but the company is really disorganized. I recommend they let the movers give estimates and not people sitting behind a desk not knowing what they’re doing. This was a total nightmare. Also the company that delivers is not the same company that packed your items. So yes your items get moved from truck to truck and they are with other items from different moves. Ooh and big one DO NOT ZELLE THE REMAINING BALANCE TO THE INITIAL COMPANY. I contracted A1A Movers; then acting as Official Van Lines to relocate me from Charlotte, NC to Austin, TX for a September 2021 move to storage and then on to the destination in October 2021. I had previously hired another company, but they cancelled. Last minute I contacted Official Van Lines and spoke with Kevin who quoted me $1965. Well, upon pickup the total was $2342, and the movers asked if I’d be willing to pay a tip and he’d reduce the rate. The problem is they calculate cubic feet and to give me a better deal, Kevin reduced the 300 cubic feet I had down to 250 cubic feet as a “discount”. As stated, I hired movers previously who already quoted me at 300+ cubic feet; so, I was aware of how much space I needed. Trusting Kevin, I agreed and later found out the numbers were temporarily fudged. The pick up movers offered to honor fudged numbers if I provided them a ticket. I did not agree; as I did not have the money since this was all unplanned. Due to already missing my deadline to move, I moved out anyways with the higher price. In the process, I discarded several items I had on my inventory list at the recommendation of the movers. Several days after my pickup, the driver lost the check, and I was asked by dispatch to email a new check and they’d be completely unwilling to reimburse me for a stop payment fee. After 30 days of storage, I called dispatch repeatedly to try to nail down a date. None was available, no ETA. 3 days after telling me no ETA was available. I get a call from dispatch telling me the driver was trying to reach me. I explained, I have no voicemails from anyone. The drivers were so unprofessional they didn’t bother leaving a voicemail. The dispatch representative called me on the weekend when the department was closed to ensure I got my stuff; which I appreciated. I was ready for delivery and the movers demanded cash upfront for the balance due (paying the $2342 in full) plus $400 in cash. They threatened to leave with my belongings and charge even more to come back. I almost called the police but realized they would have left by then. I came prepared with more cash because I didn’t trust the company based on my experience. I noticed as the movers unloaded the truck, the stacked heavy items, or light/fragile items. My 65-inch tv, was turned on its side and used to prop the door open (which I photographed). The movers then demanded that I help them (which I felt like I was being hostage); so I did. I also noticed my desk and TV stand were disassembled to the micro level and could not be put together as parts were missing/damaged. My TV had a crack which developed in the corner due to very poor handling. I reported it all to the moving company and they ultimately stated they are not responsible for my belongings if they didn’t pack them. I explained that under no circumstances should a TV be used to prop open a truck door while laying on its side. Nor should furniture be disassembled without my consent. The representative argued with me and said that wouldn’t damage a TV. I explained to her, I am an IT Professional and previously sold TV’s at Best Buy and I am a subject matter expert here and tried to educate her. The representative also explained the drivers claimed that the $400 charge was a “trip”; and they have no record of cash being collected. They also refused to provide a receipt. The behavior of the sales person and the drivers is very disappointing, very illegal but yet not a complete surprise. Update after response: A1A is attempting to misconstrue my review below. 1. The initial move date was moved up due to a hurricane. It was understandable and we agreed to it, but was stressful and unexpected nonetheless 2. I estimated the increased price. The point being, similar to other reviews, their estimation process consistently seems to underestimate the space you will need leading to additional charges. Be aware! 3. The signed claim form was sent from Anthem to A1A Movers on 12/10/2020, 03/15/3021, and again on 03/23/2021. I was copied on the last email sent from Anthem and even forwarded the signed claim myself on 4/13. Please fulfill this claim. 4. I spoke on the phone and emailed a quote regarding the damages to my fathers truck to A1A on 8/10/2020. Original review: The biggest mistake my family and I made when moving from FL to GA this past August was hiring A1A Movers. We have moved locally and cross-country numerous times over the past decade and never have we been so mistreated, had our belongings broken, and experienced such a lack of professionalism from a moving company. In August 2020, we moved from Miami, FL to Atlanta, GA. At the time of the move, a potential hurricane was moving toward Miami, so two days before our move, they called and said we could move the next day (a day earlier than expected) or would have to wait minimum 1 week. With an apartment lease going up and new jobs starting, we could not wait so were forced to move the next day. The initial movers were nice enough, seemed to take care with our belongings, etc. But as soon as money was exchanged and our things were on their way, the attitude changed. After driving most of the night, I met the movers the following afternoon at our new apartment to oversee the move-in. When they arrived, the driver refused to enter the complex. Yes, there are trees, but we had been assured by the complex (and have seen since) that numerous moving trucks (big and small) drive in, unload, and leave with no issues. After a few hours of pleading with them to drive in and unload, my father and I rented a small truck from a local Home Depot to begin loading items into to transport and were forced to pay the driver (in cash) several hundred more dollars as a "transport fee". So, after paying A1A Movers several thousand dollars (planned an unplanned), my father and I unloaded and moved-in a substantial portion of our belongings (A1A only sent two people, 1 of which had never done a move before). During this process, we also had to use my father's personal truck (with the agreement of the movers) to assist in the moving. Ultimately, his driver's side door was dented due to carelessness on the movers behalf (forgot to latch a back door of their truck and it swung open to hit my father's door), which they refused to help pay for and blamed us for, several of our items were broken or ruined by the tape and carelessness with wrapping them, and we spent just as much moving with A1A as with more well-known "white glove" moving services. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning...it is now May 2021. As soon as I was able to, I sent in claims documentation, photos, etc. to the claims company A1A Movers use. In December 2020, the signed claims materials were sent from the claims company to A1A. Silence. They were sent again twice between March and April. Silence. Every time I call, I am put on hold, told they don't know where the paperwork is, that they never received it, or that they would talk to a supervisor who is conveniently never there. I have still not received a dime of our claim. It is astounding that a company who makes their revenue off of customer service is willing to treat their clients so poorly. Be warned, do not use this company. They will quote you a price, charge you 50% more, and hold your belongings hostage until you shell out more to the driver for any number of random fees they can think up. After a few hours of pleading with them to drive in and unload, my father and I rented a small truck from a local Home Depot to begin loading items into to transport and were forced to pay the driver (in cash) several hundred more dollars as a "transport fee". So, after paying A1A Movers several thousand dollars (planned an unplanned), my father and I unloaded and moved-in a substantial portion of our belongings (A1A only sent two people, 1 of which had never done a move before). During this process, we also had to use my father's personal truck (with the agreement of the movers) to assist in the moving. Ultimately, his driver's side door was dented due to carelessness on the movers behalf (forgot to latch a back door of their truck and it swung open to hit my father's door), which they refused to help pay for and blamed us for, several of our items were broken or ruined by the tape and carelessness with wrapping them, and we spent just as much moving with A1A as with more well-known "white glove" moving services. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning...it is now May 2021. As soon as I was able to, I sent in claims documentation, photos, etc. to the claims company A1A Movers use. In December 2020, the signed claims materials were sent from the claims company to A1A. Silence. They were sent again twice between March and April. Silence. Every time I call, I am put on hold, told they don't know where the paperwork is, that they never received it, or that they would talk to a supervisor who is conveniently never there. I have still not received a dime of our claim. It is astounding that a company who makes their revenue off of customer service is willing to treat their clients so poorly. Be warned, do not use this company. They will quote you a price, charge you 50% more, and hold your belongings hostage until you shell out more to the driver for any number of random fees they can think up. Update after response: A1A is attempting to misconstrue my review below. 1. The initial move date was moved up due to a hurricane. It was understandable and we agreed to it, but was stressful and unexpected nonetheless 2. I estimated the increased price. The point being, similar to other reviews, their estimation process consistently seems to underestimate the space you will need leading to additional charges. Be aware! 3. The signed claim form was sent from Anthem to A1A Movers on 12/10/2020, 03/15/3021, and again on 03/23/2021. I was copied on the last email sent from Anthem and even forwarded the signed claim myself on 4/13. Please fulfill this claim. 4. I spoke on the phone and emailed a quote regarding the damages to my fathers truck to A1A on 8/10/2020. Original review: The biggest mistake my family and I made when moving from FL to GA this past August was hiring A1A Movers. We have moved locally and cross-country numerous times over the past decade and never have we been so mistreated, had our belongings broken, and experienced such a lack of professionalism from a moving company. In August 2020, we moved from Miami, FL to Atlanta, GA. At the time of the move, a potential hurricane was moving toward Miami, so two days before our move, they called and said we could move the next day (a day earlier than expected) or would have to wait minimum 1 week. With an apartment lease going up and new jobs starting, we could not wait so were forced to move the next day. The initial movers were nice enough, seemed to take care with our belongings, etc. But as soon as money was exchanged and our things were on their way, the attitude changed. After driving most of the night, I met the movers the following afternoon at our new apartment to oversee the move-in. When they arrived, the driver refused to enter the complex. Yes, there are trees, but we had been assured by the complex (and have seen since) that numerous moving trucks (big and small) drive in, unload, and leave with no issues. At first they were great. Art in sales assured us of all our concerns, and made it sound like we were making the right choice. We had looked at many different options when moving cross country from LA to STL. We chose Official Van Lines/A1A Movers because they seemed to have better customer service. We should have went with someone else, but cost was a concern. When the movers arrived after not giving any follow up since booking, it was a different story. They rushed us and when we kept trying to tell them to pack more stuff they kept giving us the eye roll like we had too much stuff. Art in sales said they were taking every precaution during covid but all of the movers that showed up didn't have masks nor were they cautious about it in the slightest. They packed things we didn't want them to pack and when we asked if they could get it back to us within 30 min of leaving the location they were no where to found. Then when it came time to deliver our stuff to the new location it was just as chaotic and disorganized. We were traveling by car back to STL from LA and we had not heard from the movers since they left LA. We assumed because they said we could store items for up top 30 days before it arrived that it wouldn't be a problem, our bad. We received a call 6 PM on a Friday from a different person with broken english saying he would arrive the next day at 6AM and if no one was there we would have to wait another 2 weeks for our stuff and they would charge us $200 more. We were still 8 hours away from our destination and had to rush to meet them the next day. When the truck arrived our stuff was squashed into the semi and didn't look like they took much care in with our items. After 2 guys unloaded the truck in about 4 hours they demanded payment immediately. I was very dissatisfied at this point and demanded to talk to his manager, but of course there was no one available. I pressed further that I wouldn't pay until someone spoke with me about my grievances. After about 45 min they finally had someone for me to talk to, and I voiced my concerns he agreed that my concerns were valid and I requested a reduction in cost for my time and trouble and he said he didn't have the authority to and would email his superior. I asked for his superiors number and he said he didn't have one, and that his company is very very big and they don't have phone for each person, only generic numbers to there departments. I pressed further for some resolution but soon realized I was trapped and my only way to get the rest of my stuff that the movers had stopped unloading was to pay them. The whole situation was a big headache, and not as simple as they described. I feel they take advantage of there customers and hold their possessions hostage. I have moved many of times before and think if you have any other option you should choose them, as this company doesn't care about you, your stuff, or anything but money. Please read carefully Zero stars for pickup! Not recommended at all. I moved from VA to CA. My stuff got picked up on Nov 23, 2018 by this company and was told and confirmed that It will be in CA on Nov 30. We received out stuff after a month exactly. Been living without it since almost a month. Zero Stars in Delivery and Customer Service! Please read the contract carefully. The contract says they have 21 business days than commitment time to deliver the stuff which wasn't been conveyed first hand and they never delivered even within the contract period. Now I am trying to reach them and their customer care is also one of the worst. No ones picks up the call and if mistakenly some one does, they transfer you to number which no one picks up. Zero Stars in Back office staff! Please check the pictures below.The stuff is broken. Expensive coffee table is broken. Boxes are all smashed. They did not deliver me 1 big box. Also some of the stuff from boxes is stolen. The missing stuff is also been acknowledged by delivery guy but no response from company yet. Also while delivery guy tool extra 400$ because per them 12 wheeler cannot enter my community and they have to get a new truck even if the contract said door-to-door delivery.
